It's not clear where they are because the first several minutes of the episode are missing. It looks as if the person who recorded this didn't set their timer properly. :)
The actual opening of this episode, if I recall correctly, established that the contestants were in Castle Tarasp in Switzerland, and gave a brief explanation of them being flown there, blindfolded, etc.
These episodes were never released on DVD and they aired back in the days of VCR, so one can't really expect great video quality. It looks as if these videos come from someone's home VCR recording of the show. That's hardly the season's fault. It's a great season, if you can just overlook the poor quality videos.
@alleswatikleukvind actually , the original "the mole" was first aired in Belgium in 1999, it's a belgian concept "de mol". The concept has been sold first too the netherlands and later too 50 other countries. So the dutch version is actually less modern that the us version.
What happened to the quality? Season one was super awesome but this... comparing this quality to any other videos just shows the disappointment this one is...
