  • break tork

  • wait for it, wait for it, and boom

  • When it comes out the carb its not backfire its popback.

  • @nicholaslamer1 I thought it was backfire since ignition happened early at some point and 'back fired' into the intake with an intake valve still open. Then 'afterfire' when ignition was slightly too late with exhaust valve open, igniting in the exhaust?

  • ...

  • that could have been a much bigger explosion

  • Early ignition of the fuel emulsion in a combustion chamber. In addition to the fuel emulsion dominates the air.

  • Раннее воспламенение топливной эмульсии в камере сгорания. В добавок в топливной эмульсии преобладает воздух.

  • needs a new engine mount the motor is moving around a lot when u accelereate

  • i picked up an 89 firebird today and when i started it up it did that only it kept burning

  • @65438922 Ive had that happen... mash the pedal to suck it in next time lol

  • Lol my car has done that before when i was tuning it. It made my hair crispy for a week haha! If i remember correctly your timing is extremely retarded and thats what causes the backfire

  • Thats a carer/edelbrock for ya. get a holley.

    Or a tunes Quadrajet.

  • lol, thats fuckin hilarious. and I recently did that to my 76 camaro.. pushed the petal too many times while the ar was off, wont ever do THAT again...

  • @REGALBOY82, Holley will do the same thing if not tuned. They have to be tuned to your engine. They don't work exactly right out of the box.

  • need to tighten those motor mounts my frend

  • that engine is about to get up and jump the fuck out of there to say hi to the guy filming it haha

  • lmao! I put solid mounts in my chevelle and i'll never go back!

  • Cameraman: Hello there Engine *WHACK*

  • heh my bmw 315 did the same after sitting too many years, before sitting it ran perfect and after it nothing actually worked :D

  • cool story bro.

  • wow those mounts are like ahh

  • looks like the motor mounts are fucked too

  • check your timin

  • Friend of mine had a car that would shoot a 2 foot jet of flame (pop!) out the carb almost every goose of the throttle from idle...we seriously considered cutting a hole in the hood for it!!!

  • Looks like it needs new engine mounts...

    That thing is moving HEAPS

  • thats the repercussion of a nice intake valve leak.

  • i had the same backfire once so far but when i start up the engine the first piston hit was backfire and i had no hood and i saw the carb filter flying:P camaro 1971 350engine

  • your engine will last much much longer if u use an air filter..

  • Yes MOM, sorry I will get one asap

  • i did have one, we were just trying to find the problem (turned out it was timing)

  • common problem when it does that timing is the 1st think to check

  • Ya, but most people like to take them off when they are tuning their engine. lol

  • Why is the engine moving around?

  • The motor mount was bad, torn into two lol.

Doesn't matter much now, the car is totaled circa two weeks ago.

  • I also had a bad motor mount and a carb that backfired like that.

  • I had that happen to me. It killed my Edelbrock carb

  • Thats what happens when you dont have blowback protection :)

  • wow. get new motor mounts please.

  • Was having a 400 built for it, no need now as the car was totaled in a (since car) crash.

  • Reminds me "the flame mobile" A green monster car the people nexr door had that would shoot a 1-2 foot spit of flame out the carb when goosed from idle. We seriously considered putting a hole in the hood :*)

  • I have had them backfire so bad that the intake gaskets litteraly blew out under the valve cover. way too lean caused my problem

  • flameout

  • Hahahahaha! Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer....Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer...Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeer........fa-WHOOMP!

  • what car is that

  • It is a 1972 LeMans.

  • sweeeet

  • when me and my buddy where working back on his monte carlo back in high school he had a chevy 350 with a holly 4 barrel carb when it back fired it split the carb on one side it was crazy

  • like cordobaL2005 said, its out of timing, my 76 chrysler cordoba was like that too, it was 20 degrees AFTER top dead center and i burned up a holley 2 barrel....my own fault, but since then ive put a thermoquad and timed it right...cool video though. cheers

  • I think it was running lean.

It started doing that after we switched the intake manifold and carb.

And its pontiac, so the distributor gets to stay in for the swap.

A new fuel pump fixed it, tune up for peace of mind.

  • yeah, my car has done that before..

except it had shot fuel out of the fuel bowl vents the first time we cranked it..

didn't dry it off good enough though, the top of the carb lit up when we cranked it and it backfired..

    thank goodness for fire extinguishers.

  • excelent demostration of backfire

  • ive seen cars catch on fire from backfiring well they didnt have a problem anymore lol

  • whoa, somebody needs some motor mounts

  • lol
