@nicholaslamer1 I thought it was backfire since ignition happened early at some point and 'back fired' into the intake with an intake valve still open. Then 'afterfire' when ignition was slightly too late with exhaust valve open, igniting in the exhaust?
Lol my car has done that before when i was tuning it. It made my hair crispy for a week haha! If i remember correctly your timing is extremely retarded and thats what causes the backfire
lol, thats fuckin hilarious. and I recently did that to my 76 camaro.. pushed the petal too many times while the ar was off, wont ever do THAT again...
Friend of mine had a car that would shoot a 2 foot jet of flame (pop!) out the carb almost every goose of the throttle from idle...we seriously considered cutting a hole in the hood for it!!!
i had the same backfire once so far but when i start up the engine the first piston hit was backfire and i had no hood and i saw the carb filter flying:P camaro 1971 350engine
Reminds me "the flame mobile" A green monster car the people nexr door had that would shoot a 1-2 foot spit of flame out the carb when goosed from idle. We seriously considered putting a hole in the hood :*)
when me and my buddy where working back on his monte carlo back in high school he had a chevy 350 with a holly 4 barrel carb when it back fired it split the carb on one side it was crazy
like cordobaL2005 said, its out of timing, my 76 chrysler cordoba was like that too, it was 20 degrees AFTER top dead center and i burned up a holley 2 barrel....my own fault, but since then ive put a thermoquad and timed it right...cool video though. cheers

Early ignition of the fuel emulsion in a combustion chamber. In addition to the fuel emulsion dominates the air.

@REGALBOY82, Holley will do the same thing if not tuned. They have to be tuned to your engine. They don't work exactly right out of the box.

The motor mount was bad, torn into two lol.
Doesn't matter much now, the car is totaled circa two weeks ago.
GRIMM09 3 years ago
I also had a bad motor mount and a carb that backfired like that.

I think it was running lean.
It started doing that after we switched the intake manifold and carb.
And its pontiac, so the distributor gets to stay in for the swap.
A new fuel pump fixed it, tune up for peace of mind.
GRIMM09 4 years ago
yeah, my car has done that before..
except it had shot fuel out of the fuel bowl vents the first time we cranked it..
didn't dry it off good enough though, the top of the carb lit up when we cranked it and it backfired..
thank goodness for fire extinguishers.
