  • @GeoffJennyOliver thanks mate thats very generous, makes me love this city even more than I already do

  • You have such classy videos Geoff! An inspiration!

  • Awesome. You need to do one like this for Sydney. George Street and King Street traffic, pedestrians in Pitt Street Mall, Warringah Feeway etc.

  • enjoyed the video particularly near the end with the rainy city streets at night which always look good on camera. another good video, keep it up.

  • @Tubetheweb .. this particular vid took me ages to put together so I really appreciate it when people watch and comment - so thanks, once again. Geoff

  • @yugosloven1962 .. thank you Branko ..

  • This is probably the 10th+ time I've watched this now. Still remains one of my favorites on YouTube!

  • @FreewayBrent Thanks Brent

  • Great Video Geoff, just wish I could get it to load faster!

    Cheers,

    Marylyn

  • Fantastic video, Geoff, well done. I'm a Melburnian born and bred, but for the last 17 months have been living up on the Murray, miss Melbourne immensely. This video is perhaps one of the best videos of Melbourne on Youtube :)

  • @nupthatisit Thanks - it was a lot of work to put it together...

  • @GeoffJennyOliver I can well appreciate that, I'm a high school media teacher :)

  • Gran video!! de los mejores!!!

  • Excelente y fantástico trabajo!!

  • Its like I never left.... What i would do to be back there...

  • Yay I Love V-Line

  • thanks for that day on the other side of the globe. I find Melbourne much more interesting than the other big australia cities.

  • Holy Crap this video is great!! Great work!! Very well done!! Iknow you live in Melbourne but is it possible you can do one of Brisbane? Just asking... Great work one again

  • Not sure if you have ever tried tilt shift photography, it lends its self to this style and when done correctly is hugely popular when made into short clips. Google tilt shift photography to learn more

  • @leokimvideo Yes I've been very impressed with 'Mockmoon2000' and his tilt shift stuff. I will look into it.

  • @GeoffJennyOliver Tilt shift has a select audience, in a way it is still not that well know about. I think westpac did a TVC about ATM's using this method. I found myself so caught up in the effect I never caught what the message was.

I am pretty sure tilt shift has to have no camera movement o work best. I was going to do a video which mixed real miniatures with the real world, like many crazy ideas I never had the time to pull it together.

  • This is a excellent video, hope you send it into the new youtube art comp. Now I see this is your most watched video and I can see it would have taken heaps of time to produce. Simple advice here is do more content like this and keep it sub 3 min, even sub 90 sec. you know what to do with the titles, hit that chilli spot real quick for maximum effect, good luck.

  • Thank you for sharing

The life is the movement but - Is the movement always a life?

    Beautiful

  • thanx geoff......greetings from Kyprou...

nice video about your home town.....very good road and rail network..

i heard it ''rains'' most days in Melbourne.....;)

    happiness..

    graham..

  • @neojazyc Thanks Graham. The rain theory about Melbourne is a bit of a myth. Compared to most other Australian cities Melbourne is quite dry. People in the northern capitols of Sydney and Brisbane go out of their way to rubbish Melbourne in what ever way they can. This usually includes their statement that it is always wet here. Thanks for dropping by, Geoff

  • @neojazyc I'm born and bred in Melbourne......and I can assure you that it does'nt rain most days.

  • Another amazing and beautiful city in Australia! Spectacular this video: I really liked! The traffic I see that you do not miss I must say that I see more videos about Australia the more I like it. Wonder if one day be able to give us a trip? I hope so. Greetings and congratulations to you for the video and music. Really nice mix. Excellent work. Gian ;-)

  • What a beautiful place Melbourne is. I've got to visit Australia sometime in my life.

    Another awesome video, Geoff! :)

  • @georgiaroadgeek Thanks Steve

  • ... yes, Sydney is great... n u too Geoff...

  • @ExclusiveVideosEV Thanks Gael

  • I loved this... fave bits: the cargo ship sailing past, cycling under the freeway and along the floodway (i do this ride all the time!) and the very last night time traffic shots look fantastic...

  • @drphwoar Thanks Ben. The riding is great around those paths - dodging the concrete pillars and lintels! luv it!

  • Very cool set of sequences ...and what the heck was that at 2:20 ? XD hahaha Nice work on this one :-)

  • @jcmegabyte That's what a woman out on a run looks like when waiting for the lights to change, but she doesn't want to cool off. If that makes any sense.

  • Yea, I wondered if she was "jogging in place" for some reason, but it seemed like she was already part-way into the street during most of it! Sure looked funny in any case :-)

  • Awesomee :)

  • awesome!

  • @airecaliente13 Thanks Roberto

  • Very nice Video.

    Saluti dall'Italia alla lontana Australia.

    Ciao.

    Anita

  • Briliant! You really have captured the life in the city! Takes me back to when I lived there...Thanks!

  • What was that lady doing around 2:20?

  • @DonGuido36 out on a run - looks a bit weird speeded up!!

  • Just Beautiful !!

I could not image Rain in Melbourne .

    Thank you .

  • Awesome video my dear ,hugs ,Sofia.

  • @viudanegraaa Thanks...

  • Which Software you used on the begin of the video??

  • @19porridge72 'Livetype' - came with Final Cut Express. The pictures are my own with borders from FCX...thanks for the interest...

  • SUPER!

    Extra is: 2.18-2.22!!!

    :)

  • wow, just amazing.

  • Seriously, you have some really awesome films. Did you end up studying film in college? Your stuff is professional enough to be featured on television (no joke).

  • ...thanks Brent - No formal studies, just pick up clues here and there - and ask questions. Done a lot of stuff (behind the scenes) for a local movie, got a lot of practise there.

  • Loved this. Reminded me of Koyaanisqatsi, of course! Loved the combination of panning with time-lapse.

  • ...Koyaanisqatsi?...

  • Do try to see it I'm sure you'll love it. It's an influential 1982 film directed by Godfrey Reggio with music composed by Philip Glass and cinematography by Ron Fricke. You still see echoes of it in tv commercials etc sometimes. Although it's a feature film, there are no actors and no plot. It's more an comment on modern life. I suggest you have a look on Wikipedia first.

  • My most sincere congratulations for this video very well done, the soundtrack is also excellent! Greetings from Italy, Giorgio.

  • ...thanks Giorgio...

  • AWSOME!!! 2:55 I was like "turn left, LEEEFT!!!" XD

    And music fits prefectly.

    Cheers

  • ...the guy in the boat actually yelled out to them to 'watch out' - but that's a bit hard to see when speeded up!...

  • Fantastic work!

  • This was a labor of love. How long did it take you to shoot this and did you get dizzy editing? Was it hard to set up your shots? cooooollll

  • ...a lot of work yes - about a month to shoot (part time) I have a real job as well!! - the editing was actually easier than you might expect (final cut express) - setting up shots requires a bit of imagination and luck.

  • wow that was impressive work , .. what kind of camera do you use ?

  • Sony HDV A1. Final Cut Express to edit. Mac Mini. thanks for the interest

  • great video

  • ...thanks...

  • Wow! Life in the fast lane. Melbourne never looked like this. I admire your patience, great work here. 5*

  • Great video ! I like it. Ciao.

    Carlo

  • great work.

  • This video is epic!!! nice one man!!

  • Cool one.

    Well, 2:20 that was funny.

I think it could be even better if some scenes were a little bit slower - that's my opinion.

Anyway, it's a great work of course.

  • brilliant5+

  • Yeah, really cool. Great images !
