@DarthJedi2005 not really, natural instramints don't belong in a Doctor Who theme. in my opinion, the two best themes are the Glynn theme and the Keff theme.
which series is this? is this the tenth doctor (David Tennantt) with Donna(Cathrine Tate) or ninth (Christopher Eccleston) with rose (Billie Piper) or tenth with rose or tenth with Martha (Freeman Agyeman)?
this is probably the best theme ever. sorry if i double commented but by the looks of it this is my first comment on this video. i hate it how youtube glitches up the comments.
Probably my favorite theme... Its sounds alot like one of the really old ones to me... I can't remember which one though. They just added more orchestra.
Wasn't there another version of the theme on "Rose" prior to this, more akin to the 70's versions?
This is as good as we could have expected I suppose. I just wish they had the balls to stick with a Derbyshire recut. I get the impression Gold's bits are trying to obscure the main theme like its a bit of an embarrassment. If they can leave Corrie and Eastenders alone for decades at a time then "Who" should be afforded the same courtesy. At least.
Yes, there was another version, but I agree with Murray Gold on it - it just doesn't sit right. It doesn't have that "epic" quality that the titles deserve.
Well its by no means the worst and at least the original is in there. Although I would argue Debyshires music didn't get the titles it, or the show deserved, but thats another discussion!
This, in my opinion is as good as some of the best Old Season themes. It's a lot better than the "current" theme, with a far better balance. If there's one thing it could have improved on is a heavier bass line, popular in the very early themes. Although there are a few fans of the Colin Baker/Sylvester McCoy eras, I doubt many would argue those themes were anything like as good as this.
actually, i think that this theme was only in 2005, and an 'upgraded' theme went in for 'the Christmas Invasion' up to 'Time Crash'.

@jdogbolt8265 Series 1 to 3 (so from Eccleston's first story until Martha leaves in series 3)

i prefer the series 4 one but this is still good.

My favorite version of the theme in the Doctor Who series reboot. The first one was the best. Its dark. Resonates with adventure and danger.
The ones after seems to fall short.
musicjunkymonkey 1 year ago
@musicjunkymonkey Yeah, the Series 4 one feels too forced and over the top, and lacks the bassline.

The 2005 version was actually a wee bit different.

I like this theme, but I think the original Derbyshire arrangement in the '60s and '70s is superior. My favorite is the Matt Smith theme though.

I quite like this theme. You can hear the elements of the derbythire theme too.

The Murray Gold versions are the only ones I like that aren't the Derbyshire versions.

I have to say, I really love this theme. It moves more, in a way. It's more energetic. It's really fitting to the new series.

I really like this version of the theme... it sounds a lot more "fuller" and complete with the orchestral and percussion sounds in the background.
