@ucagetit He's a great guy, but he does seem to suffer from stage fright in public situations like these where he hasn't a character to hide behind, he appears to be very nervous making Oscar presentations too I've noticed, but he's one of the best actors ever when it comes to interviews, one very funny man.
That's Meridith McCrae - daughter of Gordon McCrae the singer. (not sure about that spelling) He was in Oklahoma and Carousel and she played Billie Jo Bradley on Petticoat Junction during the color years. She died early - brain tumor, I think.
It was odd on the older verison of wml and movie star talk about their upcoming movies i rarely heard of any of them unlike midnight cowboy which i think won a oscar didn't it.
Wow, He's so shy?? I wonder why? The Graduate and Midnight Cowboy ..back to back.. Both are STILL great movies. He may be the last great star out there.
Greg Mullavey was in a bunch of TV series and TV movies in the 70's, usually playing a smart-alec. He's best known for playing Mary Hartman's husband.
Why hasn't anyone commented about the interruption with the commercial at the end? lol. I wanted to hear that!!! Probably had to do with timing, but how convenient.... maybe the station made them switch it because they didn't agree with what she was saying? lol. anyway....... I like John Daly better!!!!!!
@MabelNormand I agree, the interruption at 7:25 is really odd, particular in the context of what she is saying. I'd say it's beyond doubt. I'm glad that we have more freedom of speech today, but it's also sad that that freedom is being used to promote immoral and stupid ideas...
One can see the difference between the black and white "What´s My Line" and the colour "WML", there is plenty of respect missing in this last one. When Arlene found out Dustin the other girl in green interrupting "I knew it " "I knew it", plenty of joy missing and the professional people the black and white WML had,
I was going to rant about how this is the only clip from a 1969 taping on YT but then I discover (from below) that it was taped 12/68. COME ON PEOPLE!!! 1969 is not represented at all. Please scower your collections and post from 69 or anything you have from the syndicated series!!!!
OOPS MY bad. George Carlin, also from 69. But there's some much I'd like to see like Nina Simone, Rod McKuen, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Julie Wilson, please !!!
Waht a shame Dustin's appearance was a rare one for cutting edge performers on the syndicated WML. You can tell the panel knew they were in the presence of a monumental talent. Great conversation. Thanks so much for posting this!
At first, with the blindfold on and only hearing her voice, I thought Meredith McRae was Tippi Hedren from Hitchcock's "The Birds" I have an autographed DVD & the DVD disc itself signed by Ms. Hedren. She is known as Melanie Griffith's mother and for her work in rescuing big, wild cats like lions and tigers and ... (oh my--LOL). She was GORGEOUS in "The Birds"!
@richfincm Yeah, and that disgusting troll Hitchcock tried to sexually assault her halfway through the production of his crappy hateful (to women) Marnie and then tried to ruin her career.
Yes, Ms. Hedren alluded to Hitch putting the make on her during the making of "The Birds". She spoke of it in an interview I saw a few years ago. That is why he hired her; he had a 'thing' for blonds. He was a great filmmaker, but he was a perv. How his wife stood for the cheating, I cannot fathom.

That's not true. It's a myth Alfred Hitchcock mistreated Tippi Hedren in any way. She was injured by acting with dangerous props in "The Birds." Those were the conditions she agreed to when Hitchcock hired her. He had nothing to do with her trouble getting work post Marnie.
This color tv set is gaudy. Dusty was so bland. One of the most boring of all episodes. And yet, for purely historical reasons, I gave 5 stars. I saw Jimmy Shine and he shined. The play, however, was pedestrian. His entrance was brilliant, though. The stage is an alley. And fro out of a garbage can appears Dustin Hoffman. Bravo.
@rockstarrist I met him at a studio reception once. But, when I did speak with him, I just ended up gushing praise at him for about fifteen seconds! However, Mr. Hoffman is a very real, friendly, down-to-earth guy. Even though I said nothing he hasn't already heard a thousand times, he was absolutely gracious and personable.
And, I like to think he was perhaps as amused as he was tolerant of my silly speech! :)
@GlorifiedTruth No hun. Thats Meredith MacRae. Her dad was a famous singer in musical pictures. I believe his name was Joel MacRae. Meredith Baxter played the mother of Michael Fox in a sitcom in the 1980s.
