  • mark mcgwire was at my uncles wedding with me 3 days before this...devastating (not lying my uncles good friends with him!)

  • @walkure8 Go Cardinals!! Yankees suck ass!

  • Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, A-roid, Giambi ... give them all an asterisk beside their name !!!

  • CHEATER!!! Give records back to Roger Maris and Hank Aaron.

  • roids

  • @steroidsR4losers

ur a fagget pussy who cant bench your own dick

  • God is Mark McGwire is such a bitch.

  • doesn't everybody in baseball use steroids?

  • Comment removed

  • This guys a fuckin dousch!

  • It's not important that Mark stays in the hall of fame, or anything like that. What's important is that Mark helped bring baseball back to life! Thumbs aiup!

  • STEROID CHEATER

  • Of course Steroids should not be used in ANY sport.....BUT....Take all the Roids you want it still takes SKILL to hit HomeRuns people! He should be in the Hall of Fame, but maybe with an * for the roid use.

  • @qfinch85 Nah I don't think he should be in the hall of fame I think he should be put in something else, like a casket.

  • He admitted his mistake because he gave up on the Hall of Fame.. he got turned down 3 times in a row depsite his records.

Back then, they added the steroids he was taking to the banned list the year after he used them. Baseball officials knew it and changed their list. How could he deny?

He knows he got passed over for the Hall of Fame for a reason, baseball knows his record is a not valid

  • ...

  • At the time he got the HR record, McGwire was promoting himself on Jay Cordich's Juiceman Juicer informercial, implying that his ability to perform that great was because of a vegetable juice he was drinking on the infomercial. How's that for thumbing his nose at the issue?

  • Guy gave 3 million bucks to children's charities.

Guy can take all the drugs he wants. He's good.

  • ...

  • lol sosa didnt use steroids... he used cork bats xDDD

  • ...

  • i bet some people wouldnt be this "forgiving" if it were someone like sammy sosa,or igor gonzales or barry bonds who did the confession.but since its MCGUIRE,,,nothings wrong,,nothing happened.plain and simple,he CHEATED meanwhile other baseball players who may have not hitted that much homers in theyr careers yet all theyr homers are clean ones wont get theyr props

  • ken griffey jr. sir!

  • ...

  • ...

  • ...

  • I have no sympathy for Mark McGwire. Everybody buried Barry Bonds alive. McGwire is DOUCHE, I HAVE NO MERCY 4 HIM

  • Wow everyone saw this coming.

  • They'll never remove any of the records. How do you even decide which homers were legit and which homeres weren't? It's impossible.

  • Of cooouuuurrrrssseeee!!!!!!! Gooooaaaaallllllll!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck that guy! He's a discgrace to baseball, he disrepected all the oldtime ball players that played hard and beat records NATURALLY! & the mother fucker sat thier while Jose Conseco took all the shit from everyone.

This fucker got millions all those years shooting up & getting re-signed while others retired cuz their bodies couldnt take it.

This fucker should be banned from baseball & fuck LaRussa and anyone else who backs him up. We're supposed to forgive him cuz he confessed? FUCK HIM!

  • @guapsnmn1- okay, first off, from what i heard, he didnt take the steroids to enhance his game, he took them for his injuries to make him more relaxed to play. i do hate the cardinals with a passion (go Royals), but he set a rookie home run record WITHOUT the steroids. he shouldn't be forgiven for taking them, but he shouldn't be banned.

  • Comparing different sports based on personal preference... I guess people will never learn.

  • Steriods make ya dick do what????

  • baseball sucks! My favorite is soccer. Y? Because they are real atheltes who don´t take steroids. Soccer is a true sport. Baseball is for fags! Ah I cant wait until the WORLD CUP! That is going to be awesome!

  • How much testing do they do for soccer? Don't get me wrong baseball can be boring but soccer sucks. Sucks the big one. Besides every soccer match I've seen is plauged by over-acting pretty-boys.

  • soccer isnt a real sport, that why they fall down all the time a pretend to be hurt, they're pussies. only two true sport boxing and mma, thats it

  • @wilcarlie

    boxing = )

a guy from my gym has his first pro fight on friday

    garret Simon

    watch out for him

this friday at 6:00 west coast time IM EXCITED!

  • gosh this irritates me..still many misconceptions about steroid use prevail. didn't anyone consider that there might be more to baseball than simply how physically strong you are?? how does steroids effect natural ability. although I understand the regulations because of irresponsible use of steroids, this to me seems like a non issue???

  • But when you are a home run hitter it makes a big difference how physically strong you are. They defiled that record.

  • Yep, assholes in the media kissed Bonds, McGwire, and Sosas' ass for YEARS. Even though they knew something had to be going on. But a lot of weasel announcers and commentators are jock strap sniffers and company boys. Pathetic. Also LaRussa is a real scumbag and will lie or coverup to win any fuckin game. How transparent. It all makes me appreciate so much more though what Maris, Ruth, Aaron and others accomplished in the past.

  • ridewave444

after your comment there's no more to be said. it was a bulls eye on all involved.

as a white sox fan it was disgusting to watch the Chicago land area & the world kiss (corked bat)Sosa's ass while he & Mcgwire were in the hunt for that record, all the while knowing they were cheating. I hated it

I'm no apologist for Jose Canseco. he made his bed & like a man he sleeps in it.

it angers me though that baseball shits on him & protects Mark even in the face of his lying to congress.

  • im sorry but LaRussa should be respected and no he would not do anything to win a game. He is actually a relative of mine and I know a shit ton about who he is and I would love to prove to you that what has happened in the cardinals organization was something that would have happened in nearly any. LaRussa was not a problem, it was simply McGwire's failure to replicate the clubs integrity.

  • ana is sexy!

  • I think it's unfortunate that all this is barely coming out. It wasn't a big mystery that people's bodies were changing during the 90's, stats were getting ridiculous, and players had needles & creams stashed in their lockers. Media, coaches like LaRussa that looked the other way, are also to blame for this outcome. I know it isn't good to rat on someone you know, but if they are doing something that is illegal, and against the sport itself it's better to do so, than to live in regret.

  • go see how long steroids have been around then go see how long theyve even been able to test for steroids

  • Sammy took roids and corked his bat...

  • You're a god forsaken moron, fans like you ruin the game as well.

No doubt you need to be good to play baseball in the first place.

BUT HE ILLEGALLY ENHANCED HIS PLAY WITH AN ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE.

    It's not fair, it's cheating.

What about the guys who don't juice?

McGwire & others are taking an unfair advantage over others.

When Roger Maris set the HR record, there was controversy cause he had more games to do it, not cause he took drugs.

I don't understand how people like you can justify this

  • If I here this one more time, I'm going to choke someone.

First off, that is one of the biggest bullshit cop outs, EVER.

Second, he may of saved baseball for a moment, but in the end people like him have damaged baseball along with all the other CHEATERS!

Back in the day, it was like, oh wow, so & so is a great player, we haven't had someone like that in years.

Now it's, wow, he's good, I bet he is on roids.

  • Not surprising.

  • damn anna looks great in that shirt.

  • my biggest problem with the whole steroid use and how they broke all those old records is that the players like roger maris, babe ruth, hank aaron didnt use them. and on top of that most of them werent even year round athletes cuz most of them didnt make enough just playing ball to do that. its a cheap and pussy way of getting records. aaron played for 22 yrs long before the steroid era. also guys like cal ripken jr get overshadowed. his achievement was much greater than hittin 70 homeruns.

  • I get the same feeling from these HR whoring fans that just want to see that crap as the same thing as people that just go to hockey to see the fights.

They have no idea and no love for the sport.

I don't need to see a HR Derby when I go to a game, I just want to see a good game.

I wish people would just be grateful that we have some of the greatest sports on earth to watch.

In the end, I just want to see a good, fair game, with people trying the best to THEIR god given ability.

  • @urmombiznach; Cal Ripken Jr. was the fuckin' man! Last of the Classic style of Ballplayers.

  • All this scape goating of individuals is laughable. At what point are we just going to admit that in all our beloved sports the majority of the athletes are "cheating"? Do the math. Its an arms race, and if small percentage of other athletes at the top start using then in short order to keep your multimillion dollar contract YOU have to start using them because the PEDs have raised the bar.

  • I say let them keep their records, but if you really want to punish them, I think all media and fans should just ignore them and insult what they've achieved, instead of "Bonds the record breaker" it's "Bonds the record-breaker and Roid user". You know just trash what they achieved. And those who have succeeded the right way should always get more attention, praise and endorsements, even if they haven't broken the same records. You give more to those you like more.

  • We have become a country of CHEATERS!

    bankers: CHEATERS!

    Professional athletes: CHEATERS!

    Politicians: CHEATERS!

Feel free to add to the list!

  • I think people need to keep in mind that most of the MLB was doing steroids. And to blame only the people who were caught is incredibly stupid and naive.

  • I just want to say one thing. Thank you Mark for doing the right thing and admitting your mistake. Its people with your integrity that can truly save our national pastime.

  • He's only admitting it because he's workin in MLB again, what kind of integrity is that, lol.

  • I hear the law comin. Perjury anyone?

  • Just let them take 'roids if they want to. Who gives a fuck.

  • The fact that everyone knew it already makes this story really lame really fast.

  • these athletes that lie should be prosecuted.. mcguire, sosa, bonds, and the liar supreme marion jones.. pieces of crap all of them. ban them forever.

  • Why is marion jones the "liar supreme"?. What makes her so extra specially bad? Please...I got news for you... Every. last. millionaire. athlete. is juicing and anybody that tries to deny it is living in a dream world. Every elite sprinter, NFL player, baseball player, hockey, and probably a good chunk of bballers are on some kind of PED. Millions of dollars at stake and cut throat competition its inevitable...come on, come on, people time to grow out of naive childhood.

  • Why is marion jones the "liar supreme"?.

MJ lied repeatedly even after victor conte said he injected her, she threatened to sue then finally the truth came out.. how much money did she make in the meantime? bitch.

  • wow he admitted to using steroids?? 11 years after everyone knew he was using? lame story

  • Mark McLiar

  • You can be strong as an ox, it's still not going to help you much with making contact on a 100 mph fastball. When you do hit it, it may go further, but it requires tremendous skill.

Mac should definitely be in the HOF. It's not like he was the only player juicing. Many of the pitchers he faced were using steroids. That neutralizes the perceived unfair advantage IMO.

  • "It's not like he was the only player juicing. "

100% correct. I dont even have a dog in this hunt (I dont like baseball), but this scapegoating of certain players is ridiculous. Theyre ALL juicing. PEDs have been around long enough to ensure that the Arms race (to maintain the competitive edge and stay in the various leagues and make millions) has forced almost all players to use something. Testing is a joke in the pros and drugs like Hgh are almost impossible to catch at the best of times.

  • Well at least those wrestlers aren't doing steroids!!!

  • Fuck Mark McGwire, this dude is getting a pass and the Cards is right there with him every step of the way. This dude is white and he's gonna get a pass, and if he was black it would be a different story.

  • I'm actually disappointed that Ana lost weight, anybody else with me?

  • Could care less, her face is busted. Mark McGwire, weather he admitted it or not, everybody knew. When he was in Oakland he was really skinny and within three years he looked like a gigantic leprechaun. Sammy Sosa is another guy that if you see pictures of him with the White Sox and then with the Cubs, the change was ridiculous. Most of the power hitter were juiced up, then after they stopped because of investigations, their careers ended. The list is endless. Without juice, they were nothing.

  • they still would have been having 40 or 50 hr years without the roids, they just wouldnt have been hitting 60 to 70. to say they would have been nothing is absurd

  • what is so great about this hitting coach position that mcgwire would admit this to get it?

  • Who cares if Mark did steroids? Doesn't every athlete nowadays use them? Remember Barry Bonds? Doesn't affect my life at all!

  • Put Cenk on steroids and see how much Homers he can hit. Fool.

  • Well him admitting it doesnt make what he did right but makes him one step above people like sammy sosa who will not admit using steriods

  • so those bad years when he was taking steroids would have been worse if he wasn't taking them. just because he had bad years doesn't prove shit

  • Why should admitting an obvious truth a dozen years after the fact make Mcgwire respectful? On the other hand, its easy to see why it happens. Say your 22 years old and playing triple 'A'. Your making $70,000.00 a year and travelling around on a bus. You take steroids and up your game enough to get into the Major leagues. Now your making 2 million a year and travelling on a private airplane with groupies available in every city. Hard to resist, especially when your young.

  • So that excuses him using roids?

Get caught on roids get your records erased. Period.

  • of courseeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well it's about damn time. He should have come clean in 05 at the hearing. I bet life would have been alot more kinder on him today.

  • what piss me is tha he said he coul had done as good as he did without steroids..imena diue had to train hard and all ..but withut the juce....come on...

    the shoud allow juice..already

  • I thought he already admitted using steroids, allegedly. :S

  • Are my facts wrong? Take 60 secs to see.

  • i love those Armenian sweet lips :-)

  • He's a peace of trash. People like him are ruining baseball.

  • EY GUYS I ACTUALLY DID A VIDEO ON THIS SUBJECT!!! maybe you could come to my channel and see that video. I would mean so much. I JUST HOPE YOU COME AND WATCH! It is in the video response bar, but it is easier just to come to my channel!!!

  • Sosa, Mcgwire and Bonds are all roid heads. All you have to do is look at pics of them early on to current ones.

None of their stats are meaningful. They will forever be known as cheaters now, hope it was worth it.

  • So what if he took steroids.

every pro athlete takes them and the drug testing procedures are a fucking joke.

if these people wanna juice themselves for our entertainment then kudos to them.

at least these pro athletes take them properly and don't use insane amounts of steroids like body builders and amateur users.

in moderation steroids can be put to good use. Ive never used them, but i would imagine all of the side effects would be greatly minimized if used in proper amounts.

  • Baseball is such a stupid sport. You run for like 3 seconds and just stand around in the outfield and wait for a ball to fly in. Who the fuck cares... Baseballs a lame sport.

  • I completely agree, but where I live in the US, especially my city Chicago, people are mental about it anyway.

  • I like hotdogs.

  • @hash1212

lets see you hit a ball over the fences after its been thrown at you at about 90MPH.

    then lets have a conversation.

untill then shut your fuckin mouth

  • Well, this should be enough to keep him out of the Hall of Fame...

  • Funny, I actually remember that race they had in '98. I also remember that's when I first learned about how athletes juiced... because everyone already knew.

  • Cenk's side kick looks like the Joker. She needs to lose that lipstick and fast!

  • If I remember right steroids were not illegal in baseball in 1998. I think MLB made them illegal in 2003. I could be wrong about that.

  • As long as we the fans demand a certain level of performance from athletes and don't want to accept that they are humans and not cyborgs who feel no pain, athletes are going to push and cheat.Maybe if we stopped with the money and rolemodel shit they wouldn't feel compelled.Just my opinion.

  • He "cheated" in a god damn game. It's a game people! Chill the fuck out!

And it's not like we needed him to admit it. Everyone knew it.

  • I'm fine with letting athletes do anything that increases their performance. I don't care if they all end up cyborgs. Let them push themselves as far as they can. It is their choice.

  • In the NCAA, many times when there is a violation,

the team has to forfeit the games in which the player participated.

It would seem only appropriate, that the same is done to the Cardinals record.

McGwire juiced up, hit home runs, then lied about it.

He should never be allowed to be a part of MLB again.

  • Did you ever hear the UN thought Iraq had WMD, tried to go find them, and Saddam wouldnt allow good access? Google Clinton WMD, John Kerry WMD, Carl Levin WMD, Al GORE WMD, Hillary Clinton WMD, etc, etc

  • Comment removed

  • mykalroze, I'm going to have to give Mark Mcgwire the benefit of the doubt regarding the congressional hearing back in 2005 in saying he didn't lie about taking performance enhancing drugs - instead he skillfully danced around the question when asked if he ever used illegal drugs (which made him look like a pathetic cartoon character).

What really pisses me off is the fact that he's now denying the fact that it helped enhance his performance on the field & some people are accepting it!!!

  • What annoys me much more than any of this is how people still take professional sports seriously. To me it's all gone the way of WWF, it's entertaining (and profitable) but it's nothing to do with actual sportsmanship.

  • For some it has absolutely no bearing to their daily lives (and that's fine - to each their own). But there are many components that go far beyond the sport itself.

For instance, it's just been reported that Ari Fleischer (George W. Bush's former press secretary) personally worked with Mark Mcgwire to work out his statement to "apologize" to the media & scheduled an interview with Bob Costas. So while it may be meaningless to you, when politicians get involved, it does take on added meaning.

  • I heard about that although I'm still not clear on what the connection is and why Fleischer would get involved. Though I assume it's a money issue at some level.

In any cause I assume McGwire wasn't in any way involved in shaping policy (maybe I'm wrong) so it still doesn't seem extremely relevant to me.

  • I'm almost certain McGwire had nothing to do with the current policy (not directly).

The larger underlying issue was why the Bush administration & congress get involved w/ regulating baseball in the first place? And my best conclusion was their response to Barry Bonds (and not McGwire or Sosa). I belive that when Bonds came into the picture it was a situation of the wrong man, breaking the wrong records, at the wrong time. I believe they wanted to protect McGwire, but he was guilty as well.

  • Both Sosa and Mark and juicers and Bonds too i mean who has a bigger head ? I think Roger Maris should still have the record.

  • Man, who cares. My question is, why even bother admitting to it in the first place? It does nothing other than confirm what everyone already knows, and it makes everyone question whether your breaking of the home run record should count.

  • People say he saved baseball, but I don't care, he cheated.

  • @7d7e7f7

I agree, but some people are treating it like he killed someone or something. People need to chill.

  • Ana rocking the sexy lipstick in this Episode. She's so beautiful.

  • i wonder if ken griffey jr was clean

  • if i took steriods, i probably couldn't get 20 home runs

  • It's time to boot some people from MLB baseball for life, like they did to Pete Rose.

  • He's a drug cheat and he should be stripped of his record and jailed. If that was a black player I bet he'd dragged through the mire for that particular 'mistake'.

  • yeah ok if he was black he'd get the barry bonds treatment but jail come on its just fuckin baseball now if you think he should go to jail for perjury at the senate hearings then maybe i agree with you

  • He doesn't have a record now at all. he hasn't for a while. This would have been news if he actually had it, but Bonds has had it for a while.

  • Why does he say of course like that? Fucking retard.

  • Because he can. . .

  • It's like Glenn Beck crying or Rush Limbaugh being a fat bastard. It's kind of a trademark.

  • hopefully, he gets the asterisk next to his "accomplishment"... guessing he won't and no one will give him a hard time. I wonder why.

  • Everyone should just realize that there is no such thing as "doing it clean." Most professional athletes use performance enhancing substances of some kind (even if just over-the-counter stuff).

  • Yeah hometown! Guess we'll have to change the name of the highway now...

  • they named a highway after that steroid pumped douche in my hometown of st.louis back in 1999 "mark mcgwire highway" ..highway 70 goes to downtown st louis .. i wonder if it's gonna be taken down now after his admission

  • totally tarnished...

  • Lol this is news? Who DIDN"T know this?

  • baseball fuckin blows anyway...

  • i think ALL athletes should use steroids or HGH. It makes the games more exiting. It would be better for everyone. If players are hitting more home runs than more people will go too and watch the games and possibly pay more to see it.

  • wow. that's a dumb idea on so many levels....

  • Mark used steroids??? GET OUT!!! Who R we kidding? Everyone already knows that these guys were all using at 1 point or another. Its in all sports. Recently Manny Pacquiao turned down a multi-million dollar fight because of Random PED testing. He refused & walked away. As if we needed anything else 2 suspect he was juiced based on his recent success while moving up in weight class. PPL will continue to use PEDs until D consequences of using PEDs are as great or greater than D tempting rewards.

  • Everyone should just fuck off with the steroid bullshit. There are worse things in the world.

  • You're right about that...you're one of those things...let's concentrate on getting rid of fails like you

  • You're a jerk!

  • I'm sowwy ;)

  • Should be..

  • Roger Maris is the only person who broke that home run record and did it CLEAN.
