  • That happens in my bathtub all the time.

  • It's a tourist scam. It's not possible to demonstrate the difference in vortex direction outside of laboratory conditions and certainly not by moving a couple of paces.

The vortex demonstrated here is simply the direction that the water pas poured into the sink in the first place.

  • This is a good truth vs. myth question. I am afraid xlmeay is correct. The differences are not attributable to the coriolis effect, but rather, to the design of the drain. :(

  • Google "how does water drain on the equator." There is an explanation about this issue on the second hit (@ weatherimagery)

  • wow that was awesome. didnt know that could happen.

  • What has religion got to do with this?

  • Is the Coriolis effect, south hemisphere clockwise and north hemisphere counterclockwise... If you live in US(north hemisphere) the water in your toilet will turn counterclockwise direction when you flush it and if you live in Argentina or in another country in the south hemisphere the water in your toilet will turn clockwise direction. Coriolis effect affects weather and other natural events :) whats so cool about its that in the equator line it doesn't spin at all!!!

  • I hope you realize this is was scam. As it is, the Coriolis Effect on drains is negligible, even hundreds of kilometers from the equator. It all has to do with the way she poured in the water. She poured it in a certain direction. You can see this as it is sloshing around in the tub in a certain direction.

This demonstration works off of Conservation of Angular Momentum, which is completely independent of the location on Earth.

  • that is so cool!

  • So what's the point of this ???

  • @emishriky on the northern hemisphere its spins left on the right it spins right and on the dead center of out globe it goes straight down.

  • cool

  • oh, and I like how you tagged 2bee1wabby with the words that perfectly apply to urself as well - although I'd replace 1; selfish, immoral and ignorant. i wish not to use uneducated as u probably think what u learnt in school can b called education.

  • @dnnply How am I selfish, immoral and ignorant? You can plainly see those attributes in 2bee1wabby's comments but how do you come to the conclusion that those apply to me? Just sounds to me like you disagree with my position so you are just taking some cheap shots without actually proving any points.

  • @kubush by how u don't respect other people's point of view - even if u think they wrong. u call this person selfish, immoral and uneducated and yet u try to convince that person - doesnt seem too smart. atheists have the same rigid sort of belief system that religious people have, the difference is religious people at least acknowledge the fact that there's something else than only what we can "see". for ur own sake - and potentially that of mankind, i hope u some day "wake up".

  • @dnnply Not every point of view automatically deserves respect. As long as the person that I am talking to doesn't attack me personally, I don't mind having by beliefs questioned, criticized or even slandered as long as there is reason given. Beliefs aren't ppl and without questioning beliefs we cannot grow. I'm not really trying to convince 2bee at this point. I was simply replying to his questions and comments.

  • @dnnply Using your logic, you too are selfish, immoral and uneducated simply because you are replying to a person that you think has those attributes.

Atheism isn't a belief system. It is a label for those who don't possess a theistic belief system. Atheists acknowledge many things that we know exist that we cannot see, the difference is we believe in things that are based on evidence/reality.

  • @kubush I understand your point, although I do not fully agree.

About atheism however, saying that that's not a belief system is obviously not very smart. Atheists have an idea of truth as well, and what atheists consider to be the truth is basically the foundation of they're belief system. Although I don't see the use of a discussion about the meaning of a word - which is basically what this is, or would you disagree with what I just noted? - I did want to make this point.

  • @dnnply A-theism: meaning without theism. It is a label used to denote a lack of theistic belief. Yes, atheists have beliefs and an idea of truth, but atheism itself is not a belief.

  • @kubush A belief is not the same as a religion, which it seems you suggest it to be. As you said it's a lack of THEISTIC belief, but just like every other human being atheists have specific belief systems. You proved this as well saying this: ["Spiritual science", No such thing.]. You most likely rejected the possibility before investigating a single bit of it, which is why you and most atheists are stuck in the same sort of rigid belief system that religious people are in.

  • @dnnply Yes, like I said atheists have beliefs but atheism itself is not a belief. And what makes you think that I haven't "investigated it"? Oh and I say there is no such thing because if you knew the basics of science you would know that "spirituality" falls outside the realm of it. There is nothing "rigid" about requiring evidence or good reason to believe in something.

  • @kubush What makes me think that? You said it yourself: "Spirituality falls outside the realm of it". Please answer: Why would you investigate something that you believe does not exist?

It is indeed very rigid, because there's plenty of evidence out there, but you've basically been made blind for it. I don't blame you for this, it's just that I wish more people would take of their blindfolds and stop believing in the simple little world that is scientifically provable.

  • @dnnply "Why would you investigate something that you believe does not exist?" What a silly question. I investigated it and came to the conclusion that it does not exist.

You just assume there is evidence of it but you don't actually provide any. Blindfolds? What is more blinding then dogmatic religious and spiritual beliefs? Answer: Nothing. The 'scientific' world is complex, the religious world is simple...god dun it.

  • @kubush You might say it's a silly question, it's the one however, which most atheists and ignorant scientists reply with when asked about spirituality. If you have researched it and found it non existing, then enlighten me with one piece of evidence that supports what you say.

I don't just assume, I reason the same way you do, difference is you're still blindfolded. The 'scientific' world is so much more simple in this age we live in, as so many people - incl you - fail to see the other side.

  • @dnnply It is a silly question because you assume that it is an a priori assumption that atheists and/or scientists take without considering it. Fact is there is no evidence to support religious or spiritual claims. In this instance, absence of evidence is evidence of absence.

What makes the "scientific world" simple?

  • @kubush And one addition, just to correct you on what it seems you have no knowledge about - which is also why I'm pretty sure you did infact NOT investigate anything more thoroughly, religion and spirituality are completely different things. Whereas your explanation about religion I agree, these are dogmatic and not based on research or critical thinking. What I'm talking about is absolutely no religion.

  • @dnnply There is no us versus them when it comes to science, only what is true based on the available evidence and what isn't. You fail to realize that science is a tool to determine truth and how reality works and it has proven itself effective in doing so. There is no other vehicle in attaining real knowledge other than through science. Using anecdotes and wishy washy feelings about what is true is simply not effective.

  • @dnnply Religion and spirituality share common characteristics but I haven't used them as synonyms. Spirituality, just as religion, has dogmas and propagates with ignorance. It has no evidence and offers no real explanations.

  • @kubush They don't share ANY common characteristics, in fact; religion kills spirituality. No point in discussing any of this with you though, as you're obviously nothing like educated and have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

  • @kubush In addition, Atheists completely reject the existence of a spiritual world. Although the reasoning of scientists (may read atheists) is basically the same as how I would reason, I, for example, do not believe coincidence exists. Everything that is unexplainable within science/physics or whatever is called coincidence, whereas if one would truly investigate events - having some background knowledge of spiritual science - other conclusions and logic explanations come up.

  • @dnnply "Atheists completely reject the existence of a spiritual world." Not necessarily. Buddhists are atheists but they believe in the spiritual world. To say that scientists don't believe in coincidences is not very smart. No, the unexplained does not equate to coincidence. "Spiritual science"? No such thing.

  • so waht is the weird thing or is there non

  • It is a fraud. Look carefully when he places the leaves...he is pushing the water the direction he wants it to drain. 0:53 and 1:37

If you still dont believe me just google it.

  • @kubush lol, ur pretty dumb. u can see the water already swirling before he even puts in the leaf. i don't know why u want to tell people bullshit, but what ur saying is simply not true.

  • @dnnply 1) You can clearly see in the video that the water does not start swirling until after they put the leaf. 2) Ask any scientist and they will tell you how fraudulent this experiment is. The Coriolis effect is too small to affect such a small amount of water in such uncontrolled conditions. You haven't done your research and choose to characterize science as "bullshit" and use ad hominems.

You have only made yourself look like a fool. Please don't respond until you get educated.

  • @kubush 1) You can clearly see in the video that the water starts swirling already before the leaf is put it. 2) Scientists also tell us to take vaccines which are causing autism in people.

You may think you're smart with these 2 arguments, but they don't make sense, lemme kno when u've come up with new disinformation.

  • @dnnply What time in the video do you see it start swirling? I explained the coriolis effect and even sourced a scientific article. All you have done is say "nu uh". And vaccines don't cause autism.

  • @kubush Right, I bet you got that from scientific sources as well right? :) Dream on baby.

  • @dnnply Actually, I did. "A study just released in the journal Pediatrics analyzes insurance claims data and other records for children with autism and autism spectrum disorders (conditions resembling autism). It shows exposure to thiomersal, prenatally or after delivery, did not increase the risk of autism."

"A CDC researcher confirmed that the data yielded no evidence that increasing thiomersal exposure was associated with increased risk of autism"

U made a fool out of urself, again.

  • @kubush Dear friend. I won't get mad at you for not knowing about certain stuff, but here's some advice: this kind of research is FABRICATED for people like you, who lack critical thinking skills, to believe. Look outside of your little "scientifically proven reality" and see that all they're doing is propagating the pharmaceutical industry.

I'll admit I was just talking shit about the actual video, just seeing what'd happen if I'd reject your truth, but please, for the sake of your children.

  • @dnnply Mad at me? For what? For backing you into a corner? Here is some advice: stop making up bogus accusations like that the research is "FABRICATED" just because it proves you wrong. I know that the breadth of your research and critical thinking skills doesn't extend past some youtube videos and conspiracy websites.

Go educate yourself on how science works and stop spreading misinformation, for everyone's sake.

  • @kubush You're telling me to get educated? You're a fool man. Like I sed, I have no idea if this water flowing is scientifically proven or rejected, I was just making a random comment, but please try and get out of the box ur living in. And if u need help with dat, let me know, I'll b glad to give u some pointers.

  • @dnnply "You're telling me to get educated?" Yes!

You're calling me a fool and yet you admit that you "have no idea". If you have no idea, then why are you calling me "dumb"? Sorry, I am not planning on taking any pointers from people who insult me with "random" comments about topics they admittedly know nothing about.

  • @kubush All good bruv. I hope you're happy, even if ur not getting the bigger picture.

  • @dnnply Ku-bush is not happy, hell just look at his depressed picture in his profile. One has to be dumb not to see his sadness, not to mention is crosslegged fag look.

  • @2bee1wabby If I actually cared about what some 47 year old dude thinks about the way I sit, THAT would make me gay. But the fact that you are starring at my picture, well, that is a lil gay and creepy.

  • @kubush You are dumb you stupid MF! And btw, you call me a "Troll" in another post, and I now find that's all you do. You MF'g piece of lying shit! This Kubush cunt is a lying, stupid, ugly, depressed, imbecile! Boy, I sure wish you would agree to a Face to Face met!??????

  • @2bee1wabby Learn the definition of "troll" and learn to spell. Sorry I am not going to "met [sic]" someone who thinks that the crusades was a good idea.

Oh, and before you post again, you must think to yourself: WWJD? LOL.

  • @kubush yea yeah....talk shit about my spelling.....thats all you can do.....cause you cant meet wits with me....cause I got you by the balls.....you lying Gay fuck. Sorry ass you are! wont even give me your phone number some we can settle this. Coward motherfucker you are! You will always be a Coward. Are you afaid my fist is going to come through the receiver and hit you....Pussy! Bet the Jocks in school beat the shit out of you! LOL. Faggot!

  • @kubush You can't back anyone into a corner. Hell ku-BUSH....you wont even give me your phone number. PUSSY!

  • @ku-Bush....No sense in getting mad at this good for nothing shit for brains. He doesnt know shit. and proves that here. about the only thing he can say in his defense and is credible against me is my spelling - LOL. Im dylexic you FUCK! So you going to put dylexia down like you do christianity? Are you Dylexia-phobic LOL. Piece of shit - back at you swine.

  • @2bee1wabby You're not dyslexic, you're just an uneducated moron. The ONLY thing? I've mention numerous things in which your only reply was "you FAGGOT". Oh yes, that is such a witty response....?

  • @kubush Well thanks for telling me I am not dylexic. This proves your lack of compassion. So I had it right the first time Queer! Why should I be kind to you, when you would not be the same to me? Fuck you! I beat to to the punch! LOL. See I got you between a rock and a hard spot. You just admitted in the other post that "You are not a Christian." And you know what puss - it shows. And not only does it show, but it shows you never will be ever!!! You will never know how I can tell that! LOL.

  • @2bee1wabby And you call yourself a true Christian? What a fraud. Jesus taught to turn the other cheek and that the one without sin cast the first stone. You know NOTHING about being a Christian. So spare me. And I have been very civil with you. Probably the harshest thing that I called you was a "moron," while you in turn have called me a faggot, queer, fool, fuck, shit, pussy, gay, cunt, and the list goes on. Why should I have "compassion" for that?

  • @kubush and Fuck you! and I will say it again FUCK YOU! You act like to know the Scripture but you don't understand that at all. That is how you - a little demon motherfucker - causes the innocent to be decieved. I so much INDEED want to kill you that I hope and pray you die shortly. Maybe I can't do nothing to stop you from using God's words you heathen mother fucker, but God can! I hope he does soon. Hope I wish I could send you on to your father Satan!

  • @2bee1wabby What do you care about the innocent? You don't. You are simply offended that someone dared to questioned your closely held cherished beliefs. You are selfish, immoral, and uneducated. A bad combination.

  • @kubush Oh now you know How I feel? LOL. Dont avoid! You coward chicken shit! plus you forgot to tell me how you truely feel about Jesus Christ? So time to spit it out - if you can, Tell ya what! I will stop calling you a Coward if you can "truely" tell me how you feel about Jesus Christ and his death for sin. But since I dont believe you have to courage - I will cont. to call you a coward.

  • @kubush And YES! you fuck with the innocent anymore, and you will die!

  • @2bee1wabby And what if I deconvert someone that is "innocent"? Are you going to badger them and insult them with derogatory names? Is that how you care for the "innocent"? Puleaze.

  • @kubush You know what, since you want to "dumbdown" you thoughts - not that they were not "dumbdown" to begin with, let me put it to you like this. "YOU WILL DIE IF YOU HURT THE INNOCENT" This is God's word through me to you!

  • @2bee1wabby "This is God's word through me to you!" Prove it.

  • @kubush Already done ;)

  • @2bee1wabby How so? ;)

  • @kubush although I didn't agree with ur statements, I did respect the fact that u at least used ur brain to come up with something. however, the fact that u even reply to the person named 2bee1wabby completely destroys ur credibility.

oh and calling urself an atheist is the most ignorant and unreasonable thing to do, i hope you get the chance to figure that out one day.

  • @dnnply Replying to someone destroys my credibility? I don't follow your logic.

"calling urself an atheist is the most ignorant and unreasonable thing" Why? I would argue the exact opposite.

  • @kubush is a lying piece of shit! Just search his other posts. You are so sad kubush, what happen to you BOY! Did you get penetrated by some family member, now you hate God, and yourself? Hmmmm! Am I getting close? Lets Met Face to Face!

  • @2bee1wabby Nope but your effort is amusing.

Oh and by calling me a fool, you are endanger of hellfire. Haven't you read your bible? lol. Funny how I know more about your religion than you.

  • @kubush Ohhh. you are a christian now ehe. Quoting the Scripture now? So are you a Christian...ask it straight forward, is you can....being such a lying fuck as you are!

  • in side a pool a drain from the filter system could easyly suck those leafs upin 2 seconds or better yet with 500 pounds of suction force a human infaNT

  • Hoax. You'd need a volume of water over a kilometer across before you could see the true effect of the Coriolis effect anywhere in the world.

  • Then why does it work in my bathtub?

  • It doesn't. That's just a coincidence. Half of your neighbor's tubs probably drain the opposite way.

  • @GregLile Water draining depends mostly on the design of the drain.

  • @GregLile

So what are you trying to say? Your bathtub is the Equator?hahhaha.

Anyways millions of people come here every year to Ride the Equator, and to make it better people can stand in two hemispheres at the exact same time..

  • @viveecuador any one can stand in two hemispheres at the same time, it just depends on where you draw the line.

  • @pianovideo Ok then you can draw your own line and stand in two hemispheres at your backyard or bathtub...

  • please be kididng

  • @cutelyaware You are 100% correct. I don't know why ppl give you a thumbs down. It is a scientific fact that the Coriolis effect wouldnt work on small amounts of water. Ppl need to learn to use google.

  • Thanks kubush. I know that I'm right so mostly I find it funny that people are making such fools of themselves. I also think that I know why lots of people do that: It's because they are embarrassed for forgetting nearly ever science fact they ever heard and this is one of the few they remembered, and now they're being told that even that one is wrong. They're the same people who are angry that Pluto was demoted to a "dwarf planet". As if the rock has suffered an indignity. :-)

  • @kubush I argue for the sake of the argument; I don't know if it's a hoax or not; however, even if you are correct, google is not my go-to place for science. If you can cite a physics textbook then you might actually debunk this alleged hoax.

  • @pianovideo Google is a search engine that can actually direct you to legitimate sources. A physics textbook, believe it or not, is not the best source. A scientific article would be ideal such as the one that was published in Nature in 1908 by Otto Tumlirz which describes the carefully controlled conditions required to observe the coriolis effect on liquid drainage.

  • The comments are better than the video, lmao.

  • Fact of the matter is, it's a hoax.

  • that girl doing it is HOT as hell....!looks like a latina natile portman.....

  • "this is a serious scientific test" hahahahaha LMFAO. U people will believe anything you see on youtube. The direction the water flows determines the spin, so however they poured the water into the tub, thats the determining factor NOT the coriolis effect. Moving a few feet across the equator either way in no way determines the "spin" of the water. I mean come on guys. Hey check out some alien videos on youtube they are all real

  • Sweet.

  • the 1st test was funky, but if you watch several times the leaves appear to move clockwise. Take a good look.

  • ....hay hold on wait..in the end of the video clip it cuts off where she was gunna start the nex xperiment...loll WUT WAS THE 2ND XPERIMENT?????? was it cool? can u post it????

  • = O ..noooo wayyyyy!!!! i wanna go there!!! thats awesum!!!

  • @ChabaCream LOL. You dont have to go there to do this experiment. You can get the same effect in your backyard.

  • @kubush But your backyard is not the Equator. hha..

Every year thousands of people came here to Ride the Equator and to stand in two hemispheres at the exact same time..

  • @viveecuador The point is that the experiment is a fraud.

  • @kubush Well if the experiment is a "fraud". What can I say?

At least people come here and have some fun right at the Center of the World.

  • @viveecuador That's fine and dandy but this video was on the water drain experiment, hence i am commenting on the experiement and not on the fact that ppl have fun at the equator.

  • if i cut off my penis, will it grow back?

  • not as it was before, but skin will grow over where the cut-off point is. your nipples will though.

  • Yes, bigger and better than before, try it.

I did and now I look like I've got 3 legs.

  • to 'pinko': this is a serious scientific test and a peanut gallery (you) isn't needed. i say this is a hoax and that both vortexs are moving clockwise. i will investigate more.

  • I checked this out. the way the water flows depends on which way its moving. When the water is still it goes down without spinning.

  • yes, but interestingly this does demonstraight the way it works by atoms spinning in opposite general directions on the north and south hemispheres.

  • There's seriously absolutely no way this could possibly be explained by the Coriolis effect. Apart from anything, a couple of metres either side of the equator the effect is far too weak even to cause cyclones! Even at the poles its waaaaay too weak to make water swirl one way or the other under normal conditions! The likeliest thing is that it's down to the way the water's poured in each time.

  • that is cool!!!

  • I visited this same location in Dec. of '06. The water did indeed behave as explained, and there was no "trick" being perpetuated. But if you wish to believe it's a hoax, I won't argue. I know what I saw with my own eyes and the water behaved just as it shows in the video. Oh, btw, a raw egg also stands on end on top of a nail along the equator too.

  • Very related. Also, cheeseburgers are good.

  • The Coriolis effect is real. This is a trick. You need ideal conditions to see it with such a small amount of water. You will see it in 100 mile wide systems, but not toilets or sinks. The water is directed. Look into it. It killed me when I first heard about it. It is perhaps the greatest URBAN MYTH in America. Snopes has a lengthy discussion.

  • now THAT is cool...now i wish i had continued with physics so i could understand this stuff
