Nice work with the clamps! But what if the shaft or the transducer get tangled in to some heavy weeds...? Lets say your trolling pretty fast, can it take the weight or it might just fly off the clamps?
Good question. The transducer, as you can see in the video, does not hang down very far below the boat so I have not had any problems with it getting tangled in heavy weeds on a consistant basis. The few times I did have to go thru some thick weedy areas, it never moved. The clamps are heavy duty. They have very good spring tension and I have never had the PVC pipe come out of the clamps. It takes some force to get the PVC pipe in and out of the clamps. I highly recommed this set up.
In the water. Do a quick google/yahoo search and you should be able to find some transducer mounting directions. They tell you to mount it at about the same distance down as the bottom of your boat, mount it parallel to the river/lake bottom ect....
My transducer goes on that side and my trolling motor goes on the other side with the battery in the middle. It works good...the only thing I have to remember is to take it off before I get back to shore so I don't hit the transducer on the ground when loading the boat. I usually pull it off after I pull anchor to head in so I don't forget it after I get back to shore.
local hardware store. You can find them at any box store (Home Depot, Lowes ect..) I bought mine at a local Gilroys. They are just closet broom holders.
It has worked good for me. I just have to remember to detach it when I come back to shore and take the boat of the water so it doens't scratch on the ground.
Nice way to go. My new Eagle fishfinder has a rubber suction cup for mounting the transducer. I just hope it stays firmly on my aluminum Jon boat. I haven't used it yet but I will be trying it for the first time this week.
You are a genius... THANKS FOR SHARING! I really appreciate your tips. Cheers!

That's an inexpensive and smart way to set up a fish finder. Way to go BlaineDP. Maybe I'll take up your idea. Thanks.

The transducer should sit parallel to the ground. I think I said Perpendicular in my video..sorry for the slip of the tongue.
