Some people are so insensitive! Honestly I do see the meaning of what they say.. Your hair is beautiful, so you must not have problems with it. I know that isn't true at all. White women have the MOST problems with their hair and theirs is a complete 180 difference from ours.. Silky doesn't equal problem free. My hair is type 4 and I can detangle in the shower in 5 minutes, where as I hear people with a hair not much longer then mine taking an hour!!

I've been transitioning by hair for about 2 years and been slowly cutting the relaxed ends off and finnally natural! whoooo.....but its a lot harder than i thought. I do have some whimpy ends :( so i'm trying to find what works best for me and defining my curls. Also, i'm learning to have the confidence to wear and embrace big beautiful hair. Most of the time my hair is in a bun but THANK YOU taren you're totally giving me the tips and confidence to rock my natural hair!! Do your thing girl!

I think it is realistic to make videos about bad outcomes. As beautiful as her hair is, she is trying to demonstrate that it is from trial and error. Someone like me (who has trouble with my curly hair) may think that my hair will never be like hers. Well she is showing that she is not perfect and it takes time and care to get great results. I think it is exceptional for someone to take the time to help others. Many try to keep there hair success as a beauty secret. Thank you Taren!

I find that a lot of people that leave negative comments don't have a profle picture setup. So they hide behind a blank image/shadow. I'm not a subscriber, just dropping by. It seems to me you are doing something right by examining the overall health of your hair. Whatever you're doing keep it up. If you choose to do your hair 80 times a day do it, it's your hair. Remember, when you broadcast to the world there will be many negative comments, blow it off and keep it moving sis! Great journal!

So hey! Love your channel btw... but I have another suggestion (forgive me if you already do this but I haven't watched EVERY vid you've made)... I know exactly what you mean about the twists and the braids and leaving them in.. then consequently looking terribly young... But I suggest after your one day hair (just to make sure it dries)... do a nightime routine of braids/twists (and if you like place rollers on the ends) and in the morn take it all down...and viola! love to you!

I enjoy your videos. I went curly in July09 at 39 so I had allot to learn. Your videos, along with many other Youtube video reviews, has helped me learn more about my curly hair. It has also helped me with my 2 daughters who both have curly hair. I now can appreciate my curls and can stop relaxing and strightening my hair. I also have stopped braiding my daughters hair. I am teaching them to learn to love their natural hair AND how to control it. Thank you for all your reviews.
I think it is perfectly okay to express struggles and challenges; you present an honest, multifaceted presentation of your journey. I'm only 14 so I haven't had like DECADES of struggling with my hair or anything...but I wore my hair up all through middle school in a bun with a hairband. Having natural hair, is not easy. I am almost 1 year post relaxer, and it is truly a journey. Some might think I am a hair product junkie, you have to try things out until you find out what works perfect for your hair type. I am a libra too, and I am indecisive as well. I told myself that I was going to cut my relaxed ends at 1year, but there is no way I am ready to get rid of my length yet. So props to libra's I understand the way you are.

I have even thought about buying a nice wig, even though my hair is waist length (I guess It cound fit under a wig :) sometimes I get tired of the pony tail and don't want to spend hours shampooing twisting, sitting under the dryer etc. idk... For second day curls, did you try braiding (big braids or twist) at night? Our hair is very different, but it might work for you too. Have you tried that?

Taren, Please keep doing exactly what your doing - I started watching your channel and have learnt a ton, got loads of tips and ideas! The rants are good e.g. 'the heat damage one' just reminded me not to make the same mistake. There are a ton of producs and tecniques out there and you provide a great un biased hair journal that helps clear a route through the maze that is hair products and styling.

Some people are so insensitive! Honestly I do see the meaning of what they say.. Your hair is beautiful, so you must not have problems with it. I know that isn't true at all. White women have the MOST problems with their hair and theirs is a complete 180 difference from ours.. Silky doesn't equal problem free. My hair is type 4 and I can detangle in the shower in 5 minutes, where as I hear people with a hair not much longer then mine taking an hour!!

I've been transitioning by hair for about 2 years and been slowly cutting the relaxed ends off and finnally natural! whoooo.....but its a lot harder than i thought. I do have some whimpy ends :( so i'm trying to find what works best for me and defining my curls. Also, i'm learning to have the confidence to wear and embrace big beautiful hair. Most of the time my hair is in a bun but THANK YOU taren you're totally giving me the tips and confidence to rock my natural hair!! Do your thing girl!

I think it is realistic to make videos about bad outcomes. As beautiful as her hair is, she is trying to demonstrate that it is from trial and error. Someone like me (who has trouble with my curly hair) may think that my hair will never be like hers. Well she is showing that she is not perfect and it takes time and care to get great results. I find that a lot of people that leave negative comments don't have a profle picture setup. So they hide behind a blank image/shadow. I'm not a subscriber, just dropping by. It seems to me you are doing something right by examining the overall health of your hair. Whatever you're doing keep it up. If you choose to do your hair 80 times a day do it, it's your hair. So hey! Love your channel btw... but I have another suggestion (forgive me if you already do this but I haven't watched EVERY vid you've made)... I know exactly what you mean about the twists and the braids and leaving them in.. then consequently looking terribly young... But I suggest after your one day hair (just to make sure it dries)... do a nightime routine of braids/twists (and if you like place rollers on the ends) and in the morn take it all down...and viola! love to you!

I enjoy your videos. I went curly in July09 at 39 so I had allot to learn. Your videos, along with many other Youtube video reviews, has helped me learn more about my curly hair. It has also helped me with my 2 daughters who both have curly hair. I now can appreciate my curls and can stop relaxing and strightening my hair. I also have stopped braiding my daughters hair. Wow that negative person really does need to unsubcribe. I truly appreciated your "venting" vid. I go through the same things and I could relate to EVERYTHING you said. It was a relief to me that you made that vid. I've felt bad about some of the issues I've had with my natural hair (like hating it some days lol) but it's comforting to know that someone else who knows a lot about natural hair, and I'm sure countless others, are struggling with the same things. Keep up the great work!

As a matter of fact I love that you share the good as well as the bad so that we all know we are not alone in this natural hair frustration that happens every now and again.
I hate it when negative people stay subscribed and feel the need to send comments. Thats one of the reasons I havent been making videos for months now and I have been thinking about putting a stop to it all together.

Its so funny because each of the comments they made was abt a diff video, meaning theyre watching, the entire videos at that! I like your complaints videos because it seems like everyone tries to make it seem like there are only good things to say about natural hair and I appreciate your honesty. Your negative videos (the few you have done) are the ones I personally relate to the most!

I enjoy the fact that you complain sometimes, it shows you are honest, and unlike some people on youtube, you show the down sides of being natural so that people like me will know what to expect along my journey.
i'm not sure why its such a problem for some people really, its your channel and you speak your mind.
in my opinion it makes you more relatable! please dont change :-) xx

If she doesn't like watching you, then don't watch. I'm almost certain that you'll live without her. What you do with your hair is your choice and how you feel about a product is your opinion. How much u spend has nothing to do with her and u have every right to feel something is pricey rather u bought it or not. Do you girl and ignore petty people. Realize that envy is real. you do 'complain' a lot about your hair sometimes, but if they dont like it, they can unsubscribe. no ones putting a bomb around their neck forcing them to watch your videos. but at the SAME TIME, you help me (and a lot of other people) out a LOT. i really appreciate the reviews/advice/suggestions you give :)

Having natural hair, is not easy. I am almost 1 year post relaxer, and it is truly a journey. Some might think I am a hair product junkie, you have to try things out until you find out what works perfect for your hair type. I am a libra too, and I am indecisive as well. I told myself that I was going to cut my relaxed ends at 1year, but there is no way I am ready to get rid of my length yet. So props to libra's I understand the way you are.

Yes I feel the same way at times!!! I have even thought about buying a nice wig, even though my hair is waist length (I guess It cound fit under a wig :) sometimes I get tired of the pony tail and don't want to spend hours shampooing twisting, sitting under the dryer etc. idk... Being natural is not easy!

I can't understand why someone would judge you and say these mean things to you. I agree with alot of the things that you have mentioned, I actually saw that video and you are just being honest and your sharing with all of us your experience. This is what you tube is all about and if that individual has a problem with that, she should not being watching your videos or any videos. You know, I was thinking about twist and braids for you, but I really can't picture you in that. I agree with you when you say you don't have the hair for it. For second day curls, did you try braiding (big braids or twist) at night? Our hair is very different, but it might work for you too. Have you tried that?

I personally love the fact that your so honest about your "curls ocd" (i think I have it too) LoL and how some products and styles work for you! Obviously your helping people out so 1 persons ignorance shouldn't be a factor! Keep doing what your doing cause it helps and inspires me everytime I watch! Taren, Please keep doing exactly what your doing - I started watching your channel and have learnt a ton, got loads of tips and ideas! The rants are good e.g. 'the heat damage one' just reminded me not to make the same mistake. There are a ton of producs and tecniques out there and you provide a great un biased hair journal that helps clear a route through the maze that is hair products and styling.
