College students already took the SATs that made no sense. LSD did the same thing for me. No fear of death, but confronted with more shit about life...
Oh seriously, love his comments. Funny how, when I was 6 or 7 and watched this "live" I had a completely different set of wishes regarding what I'd make Jeannie do.... ;-)
Today an old man has talked about acid. He said that there is no such thing as death, the fear is unreasonable and he said that all people should try LSD!
LSD is illegal because people have bad trips. People have bad trips because they don't define the correct set and setting. This is the most important thing with LSD. The problem with it isn't the fact that people have had bad trips, it's more the fact that the government is telling us what we can't put into our bodies. That's the issue here. If people regularly took LSD they'd realize just how much of a sham all of this really is.
It's not all about setting. Some people are just susceptible to dark turns of the mind. LSD isn't for everybody. I wouldn't recommend it to people with schizophrenia in their family, for one. It can intensify and accelerate disorders that are already present in the mind. That said, LSD in a controlled atmosphere with trained psychologists can be incredibly beneficial. It should definitely be legalized for clinical use, at the very least.
The joke about college kids being afraid of their SAT's was kind of a blow at people taking LSD and she tried to make a joke of it. As a matter of fact, when you take LSD you realize that grades are just a number that some guy made up. SAT grades are the last thing on their mind while taking LSD. I'm not saying this in a bad way at all, I'm most definitely saying this in a good way. If politicians all took LSD we wouldn't have a political system which would definitely be a good thing.
The last time we had an advocation of using LSD (Timothy Leary) in the media it was later used to discredit whole movements of people trying to advocate a complete overhaul of our system. It stuck to this day...Dirty hippie counter culture.
@Bonzaisushi Looks like they are taking this clip down..all over the place, so share it with your friends now, if you want them to see it. I'm glad I had a chance to.
I've noticed that when people get really old, they start telling the truth in an interesting way..
@Bonzaisushi You're welcome..hey you replying helped my mind connect these two dots..in the last few years, I started hearing things that seemed well-substantiated, about what John F. Kennedy had been planning to do (assassinated 1963, when I was one). They not only seemed head and shoulders above the attitude I'd ever seen in politicians though, they seemed head and shoulders above his own....for example, cooperation with the Soviets on space. I couldn't figure it out...then I heard he'd
taken LSD, and thought..wow, yes, that could explain it.
Not that I totally agree with Hagman. Its cool that he shared a very deep and useful trip, but I know many people who have tripped alot and just had fun, without getting so much benefit from it. They went on through deep depressions, acrimonious divorces, etc. they just weren't ready to be through with their stuff. No trip can do it for you. But I'm glad Hagman ignored social convention and told the truth that it was good for him.

It's hard for me to believe a positive LSD story was actually aired on TV. Maybe progress isn't dead. Bill Hicks would be proud.
