As far as giant monster movies go, this is my favorite one from the 1980s. It's very well done for its time and rather violent when the creature attacks and kills some people later on. I have to question its PG-13 rating, but I don't think it's violent enough to warrant an R rating. At least, from what I could tell. Some sources claim its rated PG, but other say PG-13. I'm gonna go with the PG-13 rating on The Sea Serpent.
is this on DVD? It is actually based on true story. I met a family once in a remote part of Portugal that told me a rather long and illustrative tale. Amazing
A Godzilla type monster flick in the 80's, .. the era of slashers, aliens, zombies, sword & sorcery, and post-nuke flicks ?!! Wow!! The spanish exploitation film industry was really WAY behinde the times evidently !
Galiza Spain???That isn't anywhere in Spain, that´s where i live,it's Sesimbra in Portugal, typical american movie, film in a country and say it's another one,the fishing boat "Vontade de Vencer" that apears at the beggining of the movie don't even exist anymore, the boat captain died some years ago,i know because his doughter is married with a cousin of mine,i only clicked the "like" button because i can see some images of my village of when i was 4 years old,but Spain???Hell no.PORTUGAL.
I can't believe how under-rated this awesome film is. Sure, the Sea Serpent itself may look like a sock puppet, but this film shows you don't need computerized special effects and high-tech gadgets to make an intense and surprisingly scary movie about a giant snake that terrorizes.

Depressing how the great Ray Milland reduced himself to so much shit in the 1960--80's. Real garbage. Like Joan Crawford.

It's a bad sign when a portrait has more personality than the actual actors...

I love how the command center is a tiny room staffed by a handful of civilians in casual wear, LOL! Now, THAT'S realism!
