Americans facing up to the history of abuse inflicted on different ethnic minorities would be a start. How many Americans know about the history of lynich, killing, persecution and driving out of courageous workers who built the railway in the US? And the century long discrimination, exclusion, bad-mouthing of Chinese people? They make "assumptions" about us because it suits them and they want to remain ignorant because they want to. None of it is accidental.

But hell at least we've done what you've accused us of not doing, which is owning up to our ugly history of discrimination against ethnic minorities. Which is why our President is half-black, his administration has 3 Asians serving as secretaries in his cabinet, there's an Hispanic on the Supreme Court.

Now here's what would be a start: East Asia owning up to its discrimination against non-East Asians.

Thanks Frank. That is a hard question and hopefully we can all treat each other as equals here in America. At least that is the hope. Obama can help with this I think.
