Janie Jones was a '60s singer and also a brothel "madame"
She's also famous for befriending Myra Hindley the moors murderer when they were in prison together and believed she was innocent. When she finally admitted the murders Jones wanted to kill her.
i take it mick jones and janie jones are married...exuse me if im being extremly dumb but i was never a big clash fan, maybe this and london calling but i do appreciate the impact they had on music in the punk era...im thinking this because both there second names is JONES obviously...hehe...some peep get back to me please...cheers

simpily brilliant...better than the clash version...quality video too...i always forget that babyshambles(and friends)covered this excellent song...it's just a few minutes of happiness...cheers me well up and for that im greatfull...sounds like am making an awards winners acceptance speech here...HAAAAA!
I might get a job at the record store at the mall this summer and I told my (rather slutty) ex girlfriend that if I get the job, we can sneak around sometimes after I get out of work since my mom doesn't want us to be together. So this song reminds me of that.
@mrg666 - Firstly, lighten up, it made tens of thousands thousands for the charity set up in honour of Joe Strummer. Secondly, it was produced by Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell and had absolutely nothing to do with Mick Jones other than Mick giving permission for the use of the track (he shared writing credits with Strummer). Thirdly, almost everybody else likes this track. Get a fucking clue before throwing about your negative assumptions.
its only the voice of Luke Pritchard in the song, after Carl Barat says "Fill her up Jacko" goes the chorus... and there you got the beautiful voice of Luke ;)
i LOVE this version!!! babyshambles & the kooks in one song = AWESOMENESS by my definition... the other artists featuring in the song are great too :)
pete doeherty is a good frontman....but joe strummer was other stuff...bands such the clash changed the life of many people including mine...R.I.P JOE
pete dohertys a legend and the greatest song writer of all time in my opinion however the clash wrote this lol obviously there versions better its there song
fair enough, but I still disagree. Nothing can beat the original by the Clash, it's more rough and genuine in my opinion. And no matter how many people you get to sing the words, when Joe sings it, it always carries more weight and packs more punch.
Respect to Pete but this is so tame compared to the amphetamine rush of the original.Ive heard several covers of 77 classics by noughties bands[good 'kicking bands too]but they never match up coz the times are different-you gotta have real steaming anger to make Punk, otherwise youre just going thru the motions...check out the Manchester 77 vid & see the difference!
Its just me! untill the other day I thought the words to know your rights were that you have the right to free money! All I can think is that its because Ive listened to the clash all my life I miss heard them when I was really young then always geard them that way
