  • Does loop record only works for audio tracks??

  • @adoney2009 Hi, thanks for your question. You can use the loop record function when recording MIDI on instrument tracks as well.

  • What all is on Pro Tool?

  • @TheShadowAcid Hi, thanks for watching! Pro Tools is considered to be the industry standard program for music recording and production. It comes stock with everything you need to start recording, mixing and mastering your music. Let us know if have any specific questions regarding Pro Tools or any other music production software we can help answer.

  • @WinkSound Thanks and I was wondering if it has it's own instruments?

  • @TheShadowAcid Yes, Pro Tools comes stock with a set of virtual instruments to get you started. On their own they are pretty powerful and using them is also pretty straight forward.

  • justin,

great video man! i was killin myself trying to find a way to do this. just have one question: Is there anyway i can loop record an inst. track, except just adding in everything i play every take rather than making a new recordings? i know this isnt possible with audio, but i have a feeling you can do it w/ midi. ??

  • @joelrockstar19 Yeah you are right its pretty simple. You just have to make sure you have midi merge enable. It is located in the transport floating window. This will allow you to basically overdub your midi notes "on top" of eachother without erasing your last performance. I have some videos I can send over

  • @WiNKsound do you have a vid on that? cuz i need to know how to do that, and for some reason the match alternates to playlist option doesnt show up when i loop midi recordings

  • Justin,

Your videos save me hours of digging through the manuals (which aren't always helpful). I apprecate all the time and effort you put into these.

  • Hi,

Thanks for all your videos, they've helped SO much, I've been using Pro Tools and slowly began becoming familiar with it, but I never understood fully all of the basic functions.

Quick question: Is there any way to enable pre-roll for every take during loop recording? I.e. Playback begins at pre-roll flag, records through timeline selection, goes back to pre-roll flag in playback mode, then starts recording again from timeline selection?

Big thanks again, videos are fantastic!

  • @uberpirox Hello Thank you for the positive feedback and support! I apologize for taking so long to respond back. This is actually a really good question. I have never tried of this myself but I will give it a shot. Unless of course you have figured out that it works by now. If you need some help with pre and post roll I can send over a video which may help in getting this done.

  • wink. quick question. what uses the most hard disk space 8 bars of midi or 8 bars of audio. I have my thoughts about it just want to know what you think. The midi is lets say pro tools vacuum instrument or a midi sound rewired into pro tools. AUDIO OR MIDI. I made a bet with friends. Help me out

  • @tricky717 @tricky717 Well midi just the notes themselves without the sounds are smaller file sizes. What takes up more hard disk space is the quality of the plug in with those midi notes. High quality higher processing. Hope that answered your question and you won your bet haha.

    Talk to you soon,

    Justin

  • Hi @tricky717 Audio is definitely going to use the most hard disk space.
