  • i was talking to a guy at ngongotaha. he was telling me the line maybe up & running again within the next yeat n abit! alot of work is needed to the line but it'll all be worth it in the end! Cant wait for it to be re-opened!

  • @djjayrasik - niether can I, but we all need to pitch in - I'm too far away to help personally so will be giving cash

  • how much of the line is pulled up do you know??? i know theres still quiet alot of the line still in place. THIS LINE NEEDS TO BE RE-OPEN!!!!

  • @djjayrasik - couldn't agree more. Some of the line has been relaid for the rides that apparently will soon be available from Ngongataha to Mamuku.

There are some gaps along the railway and some have even been made by KiwiRail to stop anymore line being pinched. I think now that it's probably close to $50 million to reinstate the line.

  • I had heard there was a movement to reopen this line as a tourist attraction?

American here, by the way. I just think your mainline narrow gauge operations are a hoot.

  • i would like to have ssen trains running this line again! Some idiots have pulled some of it up!

  • @djjayrasik - a lot of people would like this. There is a heritage crowd that would like to get this running and are working to this end as well

  • It's a flamin disgrace that the tourist mega of Rotovegas doesn't have a rail connection....!!!

  • What frieght is available in Rotorua? surely there must be some? Ontrack reckon it would cost about $8.3 million to reopen the line, which would be money well spent
