  • @Mustyrat no, it's the moon. In Japan artistically the sun is represented in red (red sunset, like in the national flag) while the moon is represented by yellow (in myth rabbits resided in the yellow moon) and this color has been used since ukiyo-e (a sort of a flat painting style)

  • @steveharley0345 no, that is the moon--it's Japanese art style. Historically the sun is represented by red and the moon in yellow. Why? Google Ukiyo-e.
