You have to look at the history behind them.

Todd McFarlane, though he was successful at Marvel, left because he wanted to create his own characters and retain the rights to them, this directly opposes the Stan Lee method of comic book making. Stan Lee is taunting him because (if this takes place after 1992) Todd's already left and formed Image comics and created the successful new IP Spawn. So here Stan Lee views Todd as a rival with a dangerous ideology.
