@michaelcthulhu Dude I'm just talking from experience. I mean yea it can brake wood pretty easy, but that's because of it's size and weight. There is a chance it will brake to easily. And to use a forge to craft this, it would mean so much more then welding it. Also Hail Cthulhu!

The bevel on the solid steel bar I used was the entire depth of the handle (the top of the handle looked like a pyramid/spike before I welded it on). Find me any sword, anywhere, as big as this (35lbs) displaying the fact that it doesn't fall apart in use.

Lol@ all the wannabe tough guys in the comments "that aint that heavy...I swing 90lbs weapons all the time"...(sure you do). Real 2 handed greatswords averaged around 5-7lbs, max 10lbs. Balanced by the massive hilt because of the length. Not as clumsy as they seem, almost just as agile as any average shorter sword. Swinging a "35lbs" sword in a long drawn out battle would not have been a viable option...it doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

Oh c'mon! Of course he can't use it. As a little kid, you have to use a regular longsword every day of your life. Then as you grow, so does the blade. To the point where you're wielding a great blade as a late teen/early 20's. THEN you add logs around the blade and practice 100 strokes with each hand...

Once you have that, you can upgrade to Dragonslayer.

True the Dragonslayer is much heavyer and thicker, but no real human could wield somthing idential to the sword of the Manga. This is a more useable sword and I can see why he made it this way. (Also good lord, the expense on a piece of metal big enuff to make the real thing... crazy expensive)

only 35 pounds? thats nothing for a large sword. you need a 75 pound sword. and if you cant swing that, and straight it actually chops, you have no business swinging a giant sword. people would use such swords, they werent weak. exercise and youll see just how effective they can really be. it is possible to chop down a tree in a few swings.

@anonymous549 i have, luckily i was in shape when i did and took weight lifting with the football team. on spring break, i went to europe and saw some accurately made horse-swords, a type of large sword like gutt's meant to be held by two people trained to work together. getting a nice wide grip on the handle, i swung a 90 pound sword. i was benching 250 pounds around this time quite well. im not showing off, my point is that there are these huge swords that not just anyone can handle.

I'm not questioning your strength, ability, or even claim, but most swords never even weighed more then 5-6 lbs, actually even less then that. Please do research before claiming 35 lbs is nothing for a large sword. it's actually far to BIG for a sword. hence.. this video.

They were carried in parades or given as gifts.
