Although Segway principle as golferal says, this is actually a really clever design. It seems to be made of laser or water jet cut flat panels bolted together with spacer stubes of different lengths. It would pack into a really compact box as a self assembly kit for example with few man-hours of labour by manufacturer apart from electronics.

Much more stylish than my hours of effort with a MIG welder and steel bar! See the "One wheeled Thing" in my attached video response.

I'd like to see this handle some bumps, sidewalk gaps, curb cuts, grass or dirt, or anything other than smooth payment. Nothing (yet) has surpassed the Segway's ability to handle a variety of surfaces.
