@TouKxiePie What would make you think I'd have a ROM? I don't even know how to do a dump on a Pico Storybook. -If you could provide me a ROM dumping method I could actually use, I'd gladly dump and release this.-
Besides, my videos are filled with obvious DVD Macroblocking because they were recorded in it's SLP equivalent.
:D With much training and years of devote dedication, you too can be adept in the art of the Troll as I am, my son. Now go! Find you a victim and bring him to tears!!
@IshidaTheQuincy My child, only I can determine if I'm embarrassing my self or not, and since I'm not embarrassed at all, what would that mean? :3 And of course you were being sarcastic, much as I was being over-literal to your comment.
You don't think I'm funny. An opinion well-noted, respected, recorded, and preserved for a later date. Of what relevance it has towards anything now? Nobody will ever know.
@IshidaTheQuincy ROFL Actually, you didn't mention anywhere that I was wrong nor why XD Much less you wouldn't be able to, because "wrong" is all a matter of opinion and opinions cannot be proven.
And what could I honestly do about it, hm? Get pissed? Start a flame-war? XD That'd just be silly.
@sonicfangamer2 It is kinda strange when I think about it - most of the specs of the Pico seem to be on par with or slightly better than Megadrive, and it tends to show with the bigger graphics and a higher voice FX count per Pico game than Pulseman. I'm guessing they just skimped out on the sound thinking most kids wouldn't need heart-pounding or emotionally-stringing music competing with the main console scene.
This game was made in 2003, and Sega was no longer a hardware developer then, and since Pico is more of a toy, Nintendo didn't care about their franchise on a Sega console. Yet, it's still weird seeing Pokemon 16-bit and on a Sega console.
This was made for the same reason Pokemon anime-related merchandise were made for. The Sega Pico is technically not the game console most of you saying "It's Nintendo on Sega! OMGWTFBBQLOL!!!" think.
@kiddocabbusses I don't get it. What's the point of the "i herd u like mudkips" meme? Do they actually mean "I heard you like to make love with Mudkips and have children"?
One more thing to note; there was a bit of sections of recording which I skipped. While most of it was just more writing sessions, I skipped what would happen on the final page if you don't have all of the Pokemon you can get (basically, you're sent to the status screen and blocked from viewing the final sequence, but are able to check the status of what Pokemon you've got and all. I don't recall if there's any new dialog during that.)
If this helps any, I'll lend some additional contextual notes.
To begin, on the input side, the Storybook pages look similar to the actual on-screen story events, except they have a bit of text (same as page opening dialog, I'd guess) and buttons to lead to the writing courses and the minigames.
Also, the lines of dialog which are preceeded by a beep sound effect occur when I click certain areas of a page with the Pico's Pen. Usually the characters.
I wish I still had my damn Pico. ): I miss it. Haha. I would've loved to have a Pico game with a friggin mudkip on it. x) Haha. My favorite Pico game was a Richard Scarry one which I can't find any videos on...
Strange, that's one of the most common ones to find - I got it with my Pico regardless of interest, because I wanted a Pico to play this game on. Well, this and Cutie Honey. lol.
If i can get back to recording videos, I'll see if I can record that game as well, alright?
@kiddocabbusses Yeah thats what it was! Haha. Its just when I look it up on Youtube I never get results, but I did find one guy that did it but the quality wasn't as good as this one, plus he didn't really know what he was doing. Haha. But thanks!
Sega Pico had a really long lifespan in Japan. The copyright year for this game - 2003 - and "Futari wa Pretty Cure" - 2004 - attests to this.
(And yes, I stand by my saying that this is a real product. And that there's at keast 2 more Pokemon games on the Pico I haven't actually laid hands on yet.)
Weird, but cool. In a way, the Pico would've been the only Sega "Console" still around at that point (After the Dreamcast went bye bye) and I guess seeing as Sonic began appearing on Nintendo consoles at that time, I guess it makes sense...
well this came out when Nintendo and Sega were over their rivalry and were good friends, think about it, we got Sega on Nintendo consoles, why not Nintendo on Sega consoles?
I know, I just find it weird that the Pico lived for that long. It came out around the time when the Megadrive/Genesis was reaching the climax of it's life; and that it didn't die until after Sega had already discontinued production on the Dreamcast.
@ContraNeo2 THE IDEA OF TEAM ROCKET BEING DISGUISED AS SOME SEGA CORPORATES ASKING ASH TO SIGN A CONTRACT FOR MAKING A POKEMON GAME FOR THEIR LATEST SEGA CONSOLE MAKES SENSE SEEING AS HOW THE GAME INVOLVES LEARNING TO WRITE AND ASH DOESN'T GO TO SCHOOL BECAUSE HE PLAYS POKEMANS ALL DAY TO BE A POKEMAN MASDURR.
For the uber-technicality of it, I got this and Cutie Honey Flash for a combined total of 5,700 yen.
Most of that money was pure shipping charges.- the games themselves aren't that expensive for a native, but the cartridges are large and come in non-standard heavy plastic packaging.
