Well, the Post Office hasn't changed a bit and The Beauty Spot just recently closed down (last year, I believe). Very cool to see my neighborhood the way it looked the year I was born! :)
I was just there the other day. That place has sure changed since 1988. I don't think any of those stores are there anymore. It's funny to see that application sign in the window. You don't see those things anymore.
wow..i wast even alive back then..there a marc's grocery store there nowand a couple of other places and the gamestop i always go to for my video games, right next to that fitness place. cool video.
Oh my god, Murphy's. Wow. I haven't thought about that place in years. When I was little kid, my mom would take me to the little diner they had in there for lunch all the time.
@erikdavis33 Yep, it always seemed kind of dirty in there. It always looked like they didn't keep that tile floor to clean. Thanks for commenting on and watching this video. Much appreciated.
man I can believe how much that plaza has change,if im not mistaken the pick n pay is now the marc's,the only thing there that is still today is the barber and post office.
@94bluejay Yep, I think you are right. It's amazing how much things have changed up there. I still go to that barber shop and post office. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Wait the Post office Closed I knew about Pizza Hut and Laundrymat being demo'd I guess they are putting in an O'Reily's or something in there, My mom still lives in the area. And I suspected they closed the KFC it was roach infested but I finally got to see the new streetscape project completed And It looks Great Now if the city would just repave Lorain Ave
@CEMS2009 Yep, I heard they are going to close the Kamms post office and keep the west park station open. Wow, I didn't know the KFC had a roach problem. I used to go there. Yipes! I'll be looking forward to the street renovations being done. It should look great when everything is done and the street is paved. Thanks again!
@CEMS2009 Yep, and the post office is supposed to close sometime soon, I think. The Riverside theater is gone and some other shops but there is still a lot that is same. KFC closed and PIZZA HUT and the laundry have all been demolished. They are doing lots of renovations up there. Thanks for watching and hello to a fellow Clevelander!
I like this. My grandpa used to tell my grandmother (98th and Denison) "Hey, I'm walking down to Kamm's Corner." and my grandmother always said, OK. I never knew where it was. Never knew what it look like. I just knew that he was supposed to be back in time for supper.
I sure feel old! LOL You are right. Time sure does fly! Much congratulations on your Master's degree! Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video. Very much appreciated!
I used to remember buying model car kits there when I was a kid. They had a sale for $1.19 each and I bought a bunch. I also bought my first Elvis album there and still have it. Thanks for commenting on and watching this video! Much appreciated!
Thanks for posting rare video it was so cool to see the diner inside Murphies. Models for$1.19 wow. I used to get all my models from The Hobby Shop on Rocky River Drive. The old guy Jack always called me Bud. LOL
Thanks for posting great memories. Was nice to see cafe at Murphies again. I used to get all my models at the Hobby Shop on Rocky River Dr. The old guy that worked there was Jack and for some reason he always called me Bud. LOL.
Nice video. I am from west 130st,bellaire rd area. We would sometimes go to Kamms Plaza instead of Puritas Plaza for certain items. I think that the old Sears and Roebuck on west 110 st and Lorain ave. was still around back then also.
Yes, I remember shopping at Sears also when I was a kid in the sixties. I used to go along with my dad when he would shop there. Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video. Much appreciated!
Thank you for the blast from the past. I am originally from Euclid, Ohio and have been to Kamms Corner once or twice, however that would have been 10 years later. I now live in Las Vegas, Nevada and have been growing homesick over the past four years that I and my wife and children have lived here. This video had brought me back home to some extent in that I know of this location and many of the stores such as Pick-N-Pay. Wow...thanks soo much for this.
You are very welcome. I am so glad you enjoyed the video. It's a great area and I really enjoy having grown up here and I still live here in the old family home. Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video. Much appreciated!
Yep, and I remember taking that video like it was just yesterday. I sure feel old! LOL Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video. Very much appreciated!
Yeah, it is a Rego store now. I grew up with that Pick and Pay and shoped there many times. Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video. Much appreciated!
My wife and i moved into the area in 1976, my son born in 1981.We have seen many changes, so good, some bad; and we still live in the area in the same home. But it's still a great area to live
Wow!? Pick-n-Pay. Rozi's before they moved over to Warren Village. And I'll be damned if the old man at 1 minute 40 isn't the spitting image of William Burroughs.
I'm not sure who the old man is. I remember I used to see him up at Kamms in the 80's and think to myself, "Hey, that's the guy who was on my tape!" LOL Yep, lots of differences up there since the video - new stores, old ones gone, etc. Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video post. Much appreciated!
Oh wow GC Murphy? That later became Medic Drug and now empty? My stomping grounds there thanks for the trip down memory lane. Glad the area more or less looks the same.
