  • the longer version is even better, this one is too short.

  • Intro reminds me of "True Faith" New Order. love!

  • i love this ans im only 15!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was lucky enough to see them live a few years ago for a one-night show in Orlando :)

  • Best song on the album along with "Evelyn" ....pure magic!!

  • are you sure this is clan of xymox?

  • @MartyredxMaiden

I think they went Pop for a while in the early 90s

  • Is there a video version that hasn't been butchered?

  • Clan of Xymox my favourite band. The best albuns: Clan of Xymox, Medusa and now Darkest Hour. But surerly there are good music in other albums like this one. Beauty Anke♥♥♥♥

  • Anka, you are so georgeous

  • @noahmowsen2 isn't she?? Her ethereal vocals match her ethereal looks...Anka and Pieter were the heart and soul of Xymox.

  • Great 5 part article about Xymox in Unruhr, the German music magazine. Comment section at the bottom of article explains the wiki war and why Ronny is banned by Wiki for abusive behaviour (repeatedly deleting Pieter and Anka from the history). Fascinating reading.

  • What's with the Xymox wiki war? I hear Ronny is blocked 9 times for vandalizing Xymox wiki page and also for sockpuppeting as wiki-user 'Knowitall". he keep on deleting Anka and Pieter's name from the xymox page and wiki keeps banning him for removing them. Why does he want to delete A&P? Was a bad break up? Xymox was best when they were in it. Its all on wiki Xymox article history page. I hear there is internet article written about the war, does anyone know where I can find it?

  • intemporel.

  • This band are well cool!

  • 19 people have no Imagination.

  • See the storms through your boken window, see the beauty of the falling rain (8)

  • @whootrider LOL

  • see you at #s!

  • Only US show this year is in Houston tomorrow night!!

  • Reminds me so much of my ex :/

  • The most underrated band in history

  • This synthbass would work well in a Derrick-episode

  • imagination twist the shadows away always without you.. u.u

  • Fantastyczny kawałek

  • @karlik2005 czesc z kanady!

  • Pretty. Perfect for a sunday.

  • must be some good remixes of this about...or maybe not

  • those days never come back, sad but true:(

  • those days never come back, sad but true

  • this song makes me feel better about life. It relieves me of the pain and encourages me to embrace the beauty

  • She is very beautiful. Her androgynous beauty can appeal to man or woman straight or gay or in between.

  • Lo mejor de lo mejor,Xymox !

    =)

    Adoro...Amo amo esta cancion !!

  • I saw that article - "Xymox history according to Ronny Moorings" sure is different to the official Wiki version... Not the first time Moorings has claimed to be a "solo" artist either... Sad man, sad.

  • @kevinpsword1

    sad and sick

  • In Alternation magazine Ronny Moorings claims he made 'Twist of Shadows' "entirely independently, without the rest of the musicians who were then on vacation". ?????? This is ridiculous. In fact, it's probably libelous. I wonder if the other band members have seen this interview?? Truly incredible.

  • Something so magical about this album. "Imagination" and "Evelyn" are my favorites and absolute masterpieces as far as I am concerned.

  • i was born in the 70s and was grown and in college when this track came out. Imagination was one of those songs that i played in college, but rarely did anyone i know recognize the song or the group..well maybe one person, but anyway, If you weren't part of the industry in the 80s, or one of the hipsters, this wasn't one you'd hear on top 40 fm at least where i grew up. This was the first i heard from Xymox and went on to collect all the Xymox and Clan of Xymox stuff..great stuff.

  • @DjJohnnyM68 nice post,make that two persons ;-)

  • what was the reason then didn't include this video on their official DVD...??

I can't really understand that... I really like Twist Of Shadows album...

  • @unknownmathew22 There US record label of the time WING/Polydor own the rights and want big $ to release it to COX if they haven't deleted it from their records.

  • Buenisimo tanto el tema, como el video.

  • roxette!!!!!!!! ;)

  • 18 Justin Bieber fans pressed dislike.

  • I was born in 84, so I didn't really get to experience the 80s. But I can agree that music has went completely downhill since I would say about mid to late 90s. It's all about the Biebers the Mileys these days. With only a handful of artists that are remotely promising. That said, thanks for posting this video. It really reminds me of happy times.

  • I LOVE CLAN OF XYMOX

  • Se dico che questa era vera musica, i metallari si incazzano. Ma io ascolto anche il metal. E i new-wavers si incazzano. E allora dico... datevi fuoco tutti. Questa canzone è un capolavoro.

    MASTERPIECE

  • merda

  • i associate this song with masquerade...oh..right the female vocals mmm xymox, love

  • I just listened to this 7 times in a row.

    Bliss.

  • @chiapetmonsters CLOSE, that title goes to Freur, then toss the Bunnymen and the Cowboy junkies in there.

  • Fantastic. Saw them back in the day in Palo Alto, CA (Edge or Vortex).

  • Ahhh,... The good old Xymox with Anke on vocals. Pure and never dated.

    xsx

  • LOVE it! This is REAL music!

  • 17 Justin Bieber fanss missed the like button.

  • When I hear a climatic song like this, I just ease back in my chair and soak up the beauty of the audio moving me. Pure dead brilliant, they don't make music anymore. I hope on my way to Heaven, songs like this are the soundtrack to my path.

  • woooooooowwwwwwwwwwoooooooooooowwwwwwwww gracias

  • wow. this is a serious favourite.

  • my most favorite goth music

  • 2000s suck this century will be noted as the killer of music, the only good music left in this era is Heavy metal that too is underground and confined to a sub culture and seen by mainstreamers as music for the bad people, goth music and Darkwave is also Underground so basically underground cultures are the safe houses for music these days

Everything else is faggy and whorish corporate controlled pop

  • In 1984, my sophomore year of high school, I ended up living in England for 2 months. Best 2 months of my life. While there I learned about Xymox, the Cure, saw the Smiths, partied w/ OMD ... a lifetime during a summer. Amazing.

  • pardon the ignorance,i don't know this band as well as i should but wasn't there suppose to be a guy singing? :S what happened to him?

  • @pavlo666lost Ronny is the singer, he is playing guitar this time around. He's the guy from /the Muscoviet Mosquito

  • @1JanosAudron thanks for clearing that up :)

  • Ladies and gentlemen....Macaulay Culkin.

  • @TooKoolKris LOL :-)

  • @TooKoolKris lmao.. love the song though

  • It never gets old................love it

  • Timeless magic from a band in their prime. Sad that Anke and Peter are still not part of COX....the original line up of Ronny, Anke and Peter was nothing short of astonishing!

  • Why there aren't in 00s such videos?((((

  • Love it when Anka sings.

  • i like that =)

  • Imagination takes the shadows away.

  • ...lubię takie klimaty:)

  • this song, really like me, very 80s, but very dark, clan of xymox is great!!!

  • I agree with carterharrington... 80's music and early 90's rock too!!!

  • haha...typical speech... You say that 'cause you don't seek the right bands. I think the 90's is one of the best ages of alternative music. anyway...Clan of Xymox, they rock !

  • His breakheart maybe explains why he later make dark wave???

  • I think is better than your ex left you for being lesbian and not for another man

  • Anka Wolbert came out as a lesbian and left Ronny Moorings for a girl, that's why Ronny hates her so much. Oh boy, oh boy, some girl satisfied Anka better than Ronny could! Poor Ronny. :)

  • I really loved this song the first time i heard it on the radio here in Manila. Awesome song!!!!

  • Anke Wolbert is very beatiful ^^ :)

  • Anka is precious... my favorite lineup.

  • 3mikimk zgadzam sie w 100% to jest prawdziwa muzyka-electro/synth/pop a nie ta aktualna techno gówno tandeta....

  • does anybody know what's anka wolbert doing now?

  • solo album

  • Rock On !

  • Cool ... This video has a slightly different audio recording form the original album, found on Twist of Shadows.

  • @parkingtech

    True

Like many goth stuff, it's a bit shortend to satisfy the demand of MTV of keep video's under 4 minutes.

Wich also means the sound has to be a bit re-enineerd. The push have to come a bit earlier....

It's indeed a less deep song then the original on the album (your missing the great end that says where this song is actually about) but I 'm afraid that are the consequenses of bein a commercial band. And xymox was commercial at '89. ;-)

  • thanks

  • Mr vladic should realise that is by, and ONLY by that 'nonsense' goth scene this music has been containt, in all his glory, untill now.

While all those 'cool' and 'trendy' mainstream folk had 'a great time' on the junk of mayor labels and the corporate wolrd their undurable fastm oving consumer goods; It where the black coats and the gothkids that played this kind of music on their small parties.

New Wave and Alter-Electro today, owns EVERYTHING to the Gothscene.

  • @KristVladic , agree with you...their sound changed in the late 90's...they became more darker.

  • @oramikleepunk

Their siound was already very dark on their debute and on their medusa album.

Twist of Shadws was a Synthpop experiment gone well.

Phoenix was an eurohouse experiment gone very wrong...

  • ok anka is back search her, thats all i wanted to write, but youtube blocks coments containing urls i guess

  • i love the eighties but i despise

    scene kids -_-

  • @paulocastro1970 I was born a 90's kid.

and I think this generation (2000s) is so completely out of touch. There was something so ingenious and truthful, almost pure about the 80's music (well the good stuff obviously) and something almost like a childish innocence to the sounds, but totally manifest in the adult world. I don't know how to explain it, but its nostalgia for a time i never lived

  • Agreed, i feel exactly the same.

  • I was an 80's kid and you are right SIR. Today we are soooo lost and I wish and long for those days. I remember this genre of music very well. For someone who was not an 80's kid you have hit the nail on the head. If we could ever harness the fun and good times like it was the world in general would not spin so fast as it does now. And by the way I went to jr high here in Houston with a Paul Castro, I believe he was an English ( UK ) kid-- so weird on the exact same name. Peace and 80's

  • @carterharrington my thought entirely - just the other day me and German Goth were discussing the way 'things have gone' - the kids these days are way way too negative and seem to miss the subtleties and especially fail to appreciate the aesthetics altogether... At least I had the privilege of growing up in the 80s ;)

  • @MintythecatIsABeast

Hi, IM writing from Mexico City born in 70's i like all kind of music but Clan of Xymox is in my opinion great band, whats the matter the gender is a great music feel and projection the 80's made a cool fusions til the new wave, dark, goth etc all kind of music created with the soul is wonderful, great words friend

  • @carterharrington

You are wrong. None generation is better than other. People don`t listen to each other, that`s why elders THINK they`re better than youths.

Obviously, elders are different but, not better anyway.

  • @carterharrington Were so quick to judge other generations. I grew up in the 90s and I love the 80s for what it was worth and meant to me. Everything must change but everyone experience the same emotions and will experience the nostalgia as they get older. I just accept 2000 generation for who they are and hey everyone as to get older sooner and later.... Every generation has something special ..

  • @carterharrington wow, I was born in the 80's but that's exactly how I also feel. You've totally captured the very thing that makes people either love or hate 80's music. It's innocent rawness is the thing that lures and taunts, and also the very thing that disgusts and raises the hair of people who can't stand it.

  • @carterharrington That's the feeling we all share. A lot of 90's born people feel nostalgia for a time they never lived. Also a lot of 80's songs can be called 'the soundtrack' of some episodes of my childhood. They bring me sightings and feelings of the house I grew in.

  • @carterharrington you're not alone man.

  • @carterharrington That s so totally true. I saw them summer 1990 in Houston. I was born in 71 and i love the 80s music scene. For me now, it is innocence lost...My heroes becoming old men...

  • @carterharrington AGREED! also i was born in 94 so ya

  • @carterharrington rgr that brother,i lived then and believe what you say---hell yeah.

  • @carterharrington i couldn't agree more

  • another one like me who gets it. I remember a bit of the very late 80s. Jan of 87 was my birth era.

  • @carterharrington

what you said makes no sense but for some reason when i go to explain it to people it comes out the same way.

    old school all the way!

  • @carterharrington i know exactly what you mean, it might not be right, but there was just something so unique and creative about 80's music, even the fuckin pop, its like once the decade phased into the 90's it all went.....

  • @carterharrington I have never heard a better way of explaining this. I was also born Post - 80's, and yet have this same feeling for the music. Thank you.

  • hail jesus!

  • HAIL COBRA !!!!!!!---FUCK GI JOE

  • hail jesus!

  • you´re all welcome .. many of you were not born still in our 80 decade but you could keep that will with you and take him to the future.. just as me keeps the adventure and the awesome stuff from the sixties that I didn´t live for having only been born in 1970.

  • @jauniena666 I completely agree with that! I'm 23 and constantly wish I could go back to the "real" years of Gothic music. I missed it all and I love French Coldwave as well, and I missed that too.. :(

  • Anka i miss you ...

  • is the lead singer dead?

  • I feel sorry, truly sorry for anyone that missed that 80's. I even know teenagers that wished they were born earlier!

  • I totally agree you kayele!!

I'm one of those "teenagers" that wants to be born earlier.. :)

  • I am 18 and I think the same

  • The best dream pop song

  • Takes me back.....

  • This was before my time, unfortunately.

  • anybody know the name of the instrument the guy with the pony tail uses from 0:11-0:27? Just curious...

  • looks like a melodica to me but not 100%

  • Gorgeous!

  • best music!

takes me back to 10th grade---1987-88

  • Great band, but I prefer the music under Clan of Xymox :) Rony Moorings is a great singer

  • Love this track... should've been a worldwide no. 1. The album version is longer than this edited version. Thanks for posting the video

  • Nice song, the sound of the end of the 80's - makes me sad ... wish there was still music like this.

  • Amen to that.

  • Agreed.

  • My friend dated the bass player. Went to Six Flags in Arlington Tx with him circa 1990.
