@Ithenos shattered memories is a completely diffrent story, they just made it because what ever. google silent hill wiki and click on the first one and search silent hill and read up on it, then silent hill 3. thats the complete story. then check out the rest of the games intell you get it. 1 and 3 and the main story.

This game scared and confused the hell out of me when I played this on my surround sound stereo at night, alone... fugging sounds coming from behind me just made me pissed my pants(joking :P).
The movie I loved. Probably the only game movie adaption that kept to the "spirit" of the game. Sure some people hated it, but for me, the movie kept what was essential to what was SH, feeling of constant confusion, fear, disgust, hopelessness and the smidgeon of pandora like hope at the end.

Please thumbs up if you actually KNOW why the town the way it is. such as why you experience the other world, the cult/The Order, Lisa Garlands story, God, the flauros, the aglaophotis, and everything else. @TANK1671 Seven years ago, after the failed sacrifice, Alessa's soul was split into two.. One half of the soul turned into Cheryl, the baby Harry and his wife later found abandoned. Of course the two halves were brought back together, gave birth to the demon/god, which was deafeated by Harry.. Alessa transfers her consciousness(?) into a new baby and gives it to Harry.. There might be a couple of details I missed but that's the chunk of it..
OK so can someone clarify this shit. Alessa is Dahlias daughter. Cheryl is Dahlias second daughter which Harry adopted? And Harrys new born Cheryl slash Heather given to him at the end iss, what? Is she like Alessas daughter or did Alessa as a God form thing create her magicly with Harrys sperm and Harrys wifes overy? Where is she comming from? If this is explained in Silent Hill 3 at all, then tell me it is explained in Silent Hill 3- but dont explain it because I need to beat it still.
Excuse the stupid question, but I still don't really get the ending. Is the baby supposed to be cheryl? And who is the girl in the white dress, is that supposed to be Alessa?

@cavs200 i thought the movie was pretty good, after playing Silent Hill 2 recently for the first time, i noticed that the movie was a combination of both the first and second games. The movie sticks close to the source material, unlike other video game movies. The music was also good in my opinion.
@cavs200 I honestly agree. They should have stuck to the story. Though I will admit. it helped me to understand Silent Hill videogames a WHOLE LOT better.
How? They replaced the cult, the back-story, the characters, and most of the main plot points.The movie has a dumbed-down story compared to the game, so the movie the itself is easier to understand, but you can't understand the game by watching the movie with the same title. it's like trying to figure our Harry Potter by going to see Gigli.
Im not kidding, visual it looks similar, but there's nothing in the plot that's compatible with the game.
@deathhound7 I know they changed alot of stuff in the movie but some of the basic points that I missed or couldnt understand in the game was explained(they did dub it down quite a bit) so I understood it better. I honestly thought they should have stuck to the game and not gone off into some far off direction like they did.
Do you remember some of these basic plot points that were clarified? Seriously, Im a little worried that you might have been led astray. About the only things I can can think of that could be clarified in the movie are:

@HentMas The moral implications directly impacted the movie at every turn! Excuse me while I'm just a little offended at the prospect that a man can't be a loving adoptive parent, too. The plot was non-existant as well, which makes it worse, and the twist ending was complete bullshit on levels that would have even Shyamalan shaking his head at the sheer absurdity of it. Seriously, they changed the vilains from cultists to Christians just to take potshots. So I was offended on two fronts.

@ElvenRaptor the one about "christians being cultists" I saw it as a comentary about "fanatism" not "christians ", But i cant argue that point because i dont know if that was the intention of the director, they could be catholics for all i know. the plot was actually quite nicely explained, they took some great things from the game iconography, the twist ending was fairly well done, IMO it retained the spirit of the games which is what matters for this kinds of movies.
@HentMas Catholics are Christians, first of all. No, the plot was easy for the film to explain because there was hardly any plot at all. The entire plot hinged on the "heroine" character acting like a complete moron, which she did. At no point did it ever get deep like the games. No, the spirit of the games was not retained. The games are psychologically frightening, whereas the film went right for gore at every opportunity. So the film just failed on every front.

To be honest, you're the only person who believes in your version of a god. Even it you call him/her/it by the same name. @HentMas None of the characters had more than two dimensions in the film, and some were even 1D. So the entire film was just buttshit. None of the symbolism matched up to what was going on, which is part of the point of Silent Hill (the horrors match the person they're tormenting). Pyramid Head represents James's murder of his wife, for one thing. Here, the big guy's presence is just fucking pointless, other than to be fanservice, even though it makes no sense for him to be there.

can i beat samiel with handgun bullets? i have only bout 6 rifle bullets, which do damage, but i have bout a hundred handgun bullets, can i kill him with that?
Yes, but it will take awhile. If you can't beat him, then simply use up all of your ammo BEFORE you fight him. You will win automatically within a few seconds (maybe minutes? I dunno, just survive).
Is the end bit (3.20 onwards) where Cybil and Harry pick up the baby how the opening sequence changes if you finish the game with this ending? I finished with the second ending and couldn't tell how the opening sequence had changed!

@cavs200 i thought the movie was pretty good, after playing Silent Hill 2 recently for the first time, i noticed that the movie was a combination of both the first and second games. The movie sticks close to the source material, unlike other video game movies. The music was also good in my opinion.

How? They replaced the cult, the back-story, the characters, and most of the main plot points.The movie has a dumbed-down story compared to the game, so the movie the itself is easier to understand, but you can't understand the game by watching the movie with the same title. it's like trying to figure our Harry Potter by going to see Gigli.
Im not kidding, visual it looks similar, but there's nothing in the plot that's compatible with the game.

@deathhound7 I know they changed alot of stuff in the movie but some of the basic points that I missed or couldnt understand in the game was explained(they did dub it down quite a bit) so I understood it better. I honestly thought they should have stuck to the game and not gone off into some far off direction like they did.

Do you remember some of these basic plot points that were clarified? Seriously, Im a little worried that you might have been led astray. About the only things I can can think of that could be clarified in the movie are:
Protagonist and Cheryl/Sharon stuck in other world.
Harry/Rose looking for daughter
Dahlia is Allessa's mother. They belong to *A* cult.
Alessa was burned
Cybil is a good cop.
Literally everything else is dead wrong.

@cavs200 The movie was a nudge for the fans, a "feast your eyes", it was interesting, funny, scary in its own regard, haves good action sequencess, nice cg, cool features and a twisty ending that i never imagined

@HentMas The moral implications directly impacted the movie at every turn! Excuse me while I'm just a little offended at the prospect that a man can't be a loving adoptive parent, too. The plot was non-existant as well, which makes it worse, and the twist ending was complete bullshit on levels that would have even Shyamalan shaking his head at the sheer absurdity of it. Seriously, they changed the vilains from cultists to Christians just to take potshots. So I was offended on two fronts.

I know that is not true because I love both of my kids, one is mine and the other is of my significant other, regardless from whom she "came" from, that girl is my girl and one idiot saying "lets make it a woman because no man can care about a kid that much" is not going to change that fact, so why should i take offense?

@ElvenRaptor the one about "christians being cultists" I saw it as a comentary about "fanatism" not "christians ", But i cant argue that point because i dont know if that was the intention of the director, they could be catholics for all i know. the plot was actually quite nicely explained, they took some great things from the game iconography, the twist ending was fairly well done, IMO it retained the spirit of the games which is what matters for this kinds of movies.

@HentMas Catholics are Christians, first of all. No, the plot was easy for the film to explain because there was hardly any plot at all. The entire plot hinged on the "heroine" character acting like a complete moron, which she did. At no point did it ever get deep like the games. No, the spirit of the games was not retained. The games are psychologically frightening, whereas the film went right for gore at every opportunity. So the film just failed on every front.

@HentMas None of the characters had more than two dimensions in the film, and some were even 1D. So the entire film was just buttshit. None of the symbolism matched up to what was going on, which is part of the point of Silent Hill (the horrors match the person they're tormenting). Pyramid Head represents James's murder of his wife, for one thing. Here, the big guy's presence is just fucking pointless, other than to be fanservice, even though it makes no sense for him to be there.

@HentMas Totally agreed..it's a creative mixture of SH 1 and 2 with a bit of it's own story...truly a great movie..better than most "Horror" Movies nowadays....to be honest this game wouldn't have made too great a movie, but 2 and 3 would...3's being made as a sequel to one now =D

Yes, but it will take awhile. If you can't beat him, then simply use up all of your ammo BEFORE you fight him. You will win automatically within a few seconds (maybe minutes? I dunno, just survive).

Is the end bit (3.20 onwards) where Cybil and Harry pick up the baby how the opening sequence changes if you finish the game with this ending? I finished with the second ending and couldn't tell how the opening sequence had changed!
