I personally like the Nolan movies far better than the Burton movies, mainly because Batman is much more heroic. Scenes like this sum up his character, translates I may be messed up because of my parents death and I'm dressing up like a Bat, but I am saving lives because of that and that's what makes me a hero.

The cape, although the effect seemed quite quick, slowed the fall down. Since it was not angled correctly it did not have the same effect as it usually does but it still slowed them down. The Joker doesn't just kill people for no reason. It was at that moment he decided to pursue Batman. By witnessing Batman saving Rachel, the Joker devised a grand plan better than any small kill he would've done there.

No the people do not like Batman. During every conversation the people think he's some freak and a bad person because of the fact he refuses to show himself. The Joker brilliantly also pinned the crimes on B-man making him more hated than ever. Dent was the hero everyone admired because of his open tenacity. At the end, if everyone had seen what he'd become the people of gotham would lose hope in ever fixing the city, believing no one is above corruption. So B-man
