  • Hi DrGreg, I have only one question. Taking out all the infected tissue in the beagle that had just had puppies, is she at risk of losing that gland? i mean would it function as normal or would it be completely useless in the production of milk due to so much damage?

  • @Lolobee164 She will lose that gland, but will be spayed after the pups are weaned anyway

  • @DrGregDVM Dr. Greg, I have questions. How time consuming is your job? Do you find you have the time to do the things you want to do, like take vacations, spend time with your own pets, etc.? For that matter, do you ever feel that your job is stressful? I know these are odd questions, but 'Vet world' and 'Person at home' world seem unfathomably far to me! I can never truly imagine the life of an animal surgeon. Thanks a ton for these videos. They are so very helpful!

  • @Haleydg5275 In the beginning the job is consuming as you apply learned facts to real life practices. Then you'll feel responsibility to all clients and their pets, that you will need to balance with your need for money and free time. It is then that the job becomes stressful. My partner and I work less so we have free time to pursue our own interests. The more you know about economics and communication, the less you will become troubled by bad business and medical decisions

  • How much schooling is involved with becoming a vet?

  • @PittsburghCopBlock 4 years of college to complete requirements and 4 years of veterinary training. It seems like a long time, but is worth it!

  • @DrGregDVM I want to be a vet so bad when im older.

I always have loved animals and saving there lives would make me happier than ever!

  • @526mickey Its a great job to help animals! I'm happy to help

  • How does the puss turn pink instead of yellow

  • @matyrocksu4life When the pus mixes with blood, it turns a bit reddish

  • Also she's all healed from her spay and doing very well. Her "boobs" and her back end that we referred to as "the sock" have gone down considerably! Which seems to have made her a lot more comfortable. I'm so relived that she's now healthy and doing well, she's been through a lot at only 3 years old.

  • @morbidladylady So glad she's doing well.

  • @DrGregDVM my dog Callie (she's a pit bull) was bread a lot she was a rescue I took in, so I figure that the many years of being a puppy mill dog is probably what caused her to have the issues that she did.

  • My dog was experiencing false pregnancy and we brought her into our vet and had her spayed, her ovaries were the size of golf balls and looked like a cluster of grapes, not even our vet had an explanation. Do you have any idea what it could be?

  • @morbidladylady Some dogs really take ovulating seriously and form cystic follicles. Those are eggs that form and don't ovulate, they just hang there. However those are the types that end up with an infected uterus called pyometra. Glad you got her spayed. I just did surgery today on a dog with the same types of ovaries. A cluster of clear grapes

  • @DrGregDVM okay so my pitbull is 64 days pregnant, and the only signs of labor was a little throw up and somethng slimy white coming out her vagina, and im conerned cuz i havent seen her trying to make a den or even other labor signs please reply back

  • @852stroke If she is pushing she is ready, if she has bloody discharge or greenish something could be wrong. You probably need her checked

  • @DrGregDVM i took her temperature and it was 96 yesterday and today i the morning was 99.2

  • @852stroke Her temperature says she will have the pups within 24 hours. The slimy thing she passed was her mucous plug, telling us her cervix is opening. She's ready!

  • @DrGregDVM thank you ill be posting a video of them being born

  • thank you doctor for your beauty surgery

    i enjoy your career

  • @toward313 Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!

  • thank you so much for the info!!

  • @isabella8885 You are welcome!

  • My Border Collie was spayed due to pyometra June 22. She was 15 months old, 2 months post first heat. Vet said I caught it "very, very early, uterus was just beginning to have pus in it". At that time she seemed to be starting a false pregnancy, her breasts were slightly thickened. She recovered fine and is back to her normal active BC self. A couple days ago, at 6 weeks post spay, she developed breasts lumps. Vet needle biopsied and it's milk. Is this unusual to have milk 6 weeks post spay?

  • @clickertrickdog Pyometra feels like pregnancy before they get sick with the infection. The body is adjusting and the milk production should decrease then disappear in a week or two.

  • Excellent information! thanks for the great video!
