i think ishamel Beah level of Rhetoric and linguistic is immaculate, it gives me such joy to see someone from such poor backgroung is making a change in the world.
I loved the book when I first read it. What a pity it turns out to have been almost completely a fabrication.Beah was a soldier, if at all, for two months, not three years; his account of a fight at a UNICEF camp never happened, and the entire tale is - like so many other "biographies" - a combination of outright fabrication and reporting the experiences of others as his own.Don't take my word for it:check it out yourself, online. He's a provable fraud, which is such a pity, because it's a good book
He came to my school to speak, and it was absolutely amazing. What he has been through and risen above is breathtaking. People need to get awareness out on this issue. We can help Ishmael Beah to make things better in so many ways. I encourage everyone to at least spread the word to someone else or really get involved by fundraising or raising awareness on a large scale.
Think about it this way, You have a bully at school who beats you up everyday. You could either tell a teacher on him, he will get in trouble, become mad and just do it even more. It wont help what so ever. You take up boxing for example 1 month later he tries to beat you up. You fight back and you win, he will not bother you ever again. I dont believe murder is necessary but I do believe war is necessary
Absolutely loved this book - anyone who wants to know what really went on in Sierra Leone should read this

@Randomrox26 It wasn't that odd, I thought the ending was amazing. I wish he would've gone into his America story but oh well. Ending was great.

If anyone is looking for another book of this caliber, I recommend "Ghost Soldiers" by Hampton Sides.

he is totally right. and he has the right to say war is unneccasary. when you are forced to be a child soldier, then offer your opinion on war.

Have you ever heard of the Nazis?

War doesn't do any GOOD? How is that the issue? War is a fact of life. War is tragic but that doesn't mean it's unnecessary.
