Everyone saying this car is a complete copy of the E class W210 platform is incorrect.
The 300 borrows its steering and suspension components from the Benz which are bolted to a Chrysler chassis.
Chrysler was forced to use the old bull$hit Daimler "gave" them. As much as I like the 300 and as good a car as it is, I would've liked to have seen what Chrysler corp. would've produced had the merger with Daimler not gone through.
Normally around 17 Liters (98 Oktan) per 100km. But since 80.000 km I've a LPG fuel system. That reduce the fuel-costs by half! So it's now still a fast but also a cost saving car ;-)
I was wondering, just because, you know, I own myslef chrysler 300c but with 3,5 liter engine. And my 3,5 liter engine fuel consumption is about 18 liters. I'm thinking now about buying 6,1 SRT8 300c, but I dout, that the fuel consumption of srt8 300c will be the same as 3,5 liter engine 300c chrysler.
LPG = Liquified Propane Gas. With this system you need only a little bit Gasoline for starting the engine and warming it up to 38°C. After around 1 minute the system changes automatically to the parallel built in LPG tank and LPG-fuel injection system.
Regarding the fuel consumption: 17l/100km was my average, driven mostly on german highways. Average speeds of 200km/h and high above needs 25 l/100km and more. But where on this earth can you drive this for more than an few minutes?
I believe that driving on highways the fuel consumption of 6,1 srt is lower that in city, as you tell it's about 17 liters.
3,5 L 300c on highway needs about 10 liter.
but in 6,1srt, when you push the accelerator pedal as deep as you can, I believe I would have even 30liters and more consumption in city :]
P.S.Whats the price of whole this LPG system to instal on 300c? and I think the problem is that you won't get any guarantees in case of problems with engine etc.
30l/100km in the city with making a burnout on every traffic light ist shurely possible. And loosing your driving licence within one day when driving in that way is shure ;-).
The LPG-system for an 8-Cylinder and two additional tanks costs between 3.500,- to 4.000,-€ in Germany. And you loose any guarantee for the engine. But therefore there is a separat guarantee-insurance available.
I'am getting of my 3,5 liter 300c everything that is possible in the city, and still, everything is ok. Of course I do that, when the streets are empty, and it's midnight :)
but you know, i think 4k euro of course is not a lot of money, but if you want to make your driving cheaper, I can't even imagine, when you'll get those 4k euro back driving with LPG. how is your situation, did you get your investment for LPG back, while driving on lpg compareing with normal 98 octane fuel?
A full payback of this invest ist reached already after around 30.000km. I'm driving 40.000km/a. So it's a very good invest for me. But I have no idea what the prices for gasoline or LPG are in Lithuania.
There is no sense to invest to the LPG system in Lithuania, because the price of 1liter gasoline is about 0,85 euro. On liter of LPG is about 0,70 euro plus the price of LPG installation, so I doubt that LPG for srt8 in LT sounds like a good plan :]
sound is great but still nothing special. Try to listen to the sound that European engineers get from V8 engine. That's for example f430 V8 :) you can't even compare.. :)
I don't know what you wanted to tell me about Ferrari engines, but I would doubt, that Chrysler makes better engines that Ferrari, same thing is about 100k miles for the engine.
P.S. you can't even compare such things, ferrar has 4,3 liter v8, and has almost 500hp. Chrysler is 6,1 liter, and has "only" 425hp :]
3. YOU are the one who compared this engine originally to a Ferrari V-8. You're also totally missing the point of having 6.1 liters. Yes the Ferrari 4.3L makes more power, but where is it? That's right ... alllll the way in the top of the band where you won't often be unless it's just a track toy.
And what torque? 343 lb-ft? HA! You can match a larger displacement engine for hp, but you can't cheat out and have equal torque at an equal rpm. The F430's is again way high in the band, whereas the Hemi has heaps of torque from step off to redline.
I know that srt8 has better torque than Ferrari, but you are missing a point, I just mentioned the sound of those 2 cars. I can begin to talk now about Brabus rocket or bullit, about the torque of brabus. That brabus is faster than f430. Even S65 Mercedes is faster that f430 :] but no doubt Ferrari has an amazing sound, when people hear that all over the world, they know that it's Ferrari and you don't even have to tell them that it's a good car, that it has a good torque etc. :)
The SRT8 is not a "semi-racing-car" like ab Ferrari. This car is a luxury sedan and must offer room for 5 persons and must fit for every day use and very long travel distances. The sound of a Ferrari V8 is great. No doubt about that. It's much louder than the SRT8 and the freuquencies are much higher. It's a sport and racing engine. But the Ferrari does not fit for any of the demands that a 300C must fulfill. So it does not really make sense to compare this totally different cars.
A lot of people have topped them out and felt the car hit the limiter so it's definitely way faster than 168mph, the diablo predator removes the limiter to 190mph
Not the same price, not the same league and by far not the same target customer. More than 4 SRT8's for one Continenatal GT. Wow. A hell of a lot of money for 132kW extra and - no doubt about that - high end quality, specially in the interior.
ya i know, but i talk about the continental "T" (old one) not the "GT"... but you're true, it's a bit more expensive (the lower cost 75000 euros), and it's a completlty other style ;)
That's pretty simple: Push down the right pedal very quickly down to the floor ;-)
I think it depends only on the surface of the streets. Last year we were in vacation in Croatia. No chance to get there the power of the car to the street. Slippery already when the streets are dry. Like ice when they are wet. Spinning wheels all the time. On german highways the surface delivers by far much more grip.
The hemis are torque monsters, but they also like to rev. I own 2 of the 5.7l hemis and they have been perfectly reliable vehicles. A 05 RT Magnum with almost 120,000 miles and a 05 QC 4X4 Ram with 80,000. Chrysler quality has come a long way. I race both vehicles btw 13.4 with the Magnum and 14.5 with the truck.
That's normal. The aerodynamic resistance increases squared to the speed increase. That's the reason why also a very aerodynamic car needs more than 1000 hp to reach 400 km/h. And the 300C ist definetely NOT a very aerodynamic car.
Yeah not that fast- only 425hp and 570nm of torque. 0-100kmh in 5.4 seconds....what do you expect for a 1900kg car? All those good looks dont come at a light weight. And you call a car with a 6.1L engine, factory 20" rims and cross drilled brakes boring huh?
actually you're wrong. The car does 0-100 km/h in a proven 4.9 seconds and 0-60 mp/h in a proven 4.7 seconds. Also the car weighs 1850 kg not 1900. 50 kg is abig difference. Chrysler officially advertised 0-100 km/h (0-62.5 mp/h) in 5.2-5.3 seconds for insurance reasons. But i guarantee that is does 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. I'ce riden in one many times and a friend owns one too :D
What a boring car. No thanks, I'd rather buy a standard Vette over this big family hauler. It's not even that fast. Chrysler has screwed their motors over even worse than they have in the past (Don't know how that was possible).
I'm curious whether you can transport 4 people and baggage that fast with your Vette. Btw., the Vette is a great car, too. A Z06 is my dream as third car, just for fun on the weekend or for an hour in the evening.
there are faster cars in the draggstar, in the start, in the long speed.. whatever.. but this is made thought about me :) Is exactly what I LOVE. iF I can reach 170 km/h I don't care !!
People this car does 0-62.5 miles per hour in 4.9 seconds. The regular 300c is shit to drive. But the srt8 has been coompletely refined in all aspects, people who own said that it drives amasingly
The steering should need a little bit more force to improve the contact to the street. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give a 9 for it. The problem with the tranmission is the much to long 5th shift. The car reach it's top speed already in the 4th shift. That means, that the accelaration in higher speed areas could be significantly improved by shorten the 3rd, 4th and 5th shift. As already mentioned, the suspension ist harder than on the normal 300Cs, but it fit's good to a sport sedan.
That's the reason for it. Shure. This may be OK, when the car runs 180 km/h. For a sports car that runs 275 km/h a gearbox with only 4 effective shifts is defintely not enough. To use the last shift as an extra long fuel saver shift may be OK for the Mercedes 7-shift gearbox or the new Lexus 8-shift gearbox.
Correct! To poor to own a Mercedes, which is comparable to this car. Who owns one of these Mercedes, I assume, is to poor to own a comparable Bentley. And so on. What you're saying is bullshit. This car delivers the the most worth for the money. That does not mean that there is no better car available.
my dad has an srt-8 very nice cars me and my bro took it for a spin and hit 0-100kph in 5secs and that was not flat foot and it was uphill so we gotta take it for another run see what it can do...and btw the srt-8 uses mercedes transmission and chasis...cheers
It's harder than the other versions of the 300C, that's true. But it's more a kind of a sports car. And that is very good for driving at high speed. In Germany we have still highways without speed limit. So, 200 km/h and above is absolutely no problem with this car. It's by far the car with the highest value for the money - especially compared with Mercedes, BMW and Audi.
Very good sound engine!

Hi,
Objectively, you're all right - the Chrysler 300 is based on a '95-'02 Mercedes E-Class.
But the 300, especially with a V8-engine, is indisputably more equipeed, less expensive and - personally - I much prefer the 300's style than the E's.
In practical terms, for approximatively the same price, I'd prefer buying a '06 Chrysler 300 SRT than a '05 E500.

No, the car is original. I've heard from some which are running up to 280 km/h w/o any change.

People this car does 0-62.5 miles per hour in 4.9 seconds. The regular 300c is shit to drive. But the srt8 has been coompletely refined in all aspects, people who own said that it drives amasingly

Too bad the bad Mercedes steering, transmission, and suspension ruin it.
UncleSam13 5 years ago
The steering should need a little bit more force to improve the contact to the street. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give a 9 for it. The problem with the tranmission is the much to long 5th shift. The car reach it's top speed already in the 4th shift. That means, that the accelaration in higher speed areas could be significantly improved by shorten the 3rd, 4th and 5th shift. As already mentioned, the suspension ist harder than on the normal 300Cs, but it fit's good to a sport sedan.

5th gear or last gear always designed for economy or cruising if u race u use only 1st 4 gears
kamil511 5 years ago
That's the reason for it. Shure. This may be OK, when the car runs 180 km/h. For a sports car that runs 275 km/h a gearbox with only 4 effective shifts is defintely not enough. To use the last shift as an extra long fuel saver shift may be OK for the Mercedes 7-shift gearbox or the new Lexus 8-shift gearbox.

Too bad ur too poor to own a mercedes!
mitchem9s 4 years ago
Correct! To poor to own a Mercedes, which is comparable to this car. Who owns one of these Mercedes, I assume, is to poor to own a comparable Bentley. And so on. What you're saying is bullshit. This car delivers the the most worth for the money. That does not mean that there is no better car available.

It's a great car!!!

this car is bad... why even get the srt8 version of it, its terrible to drive...
