I don't know what ever happened to Philip Kachaturian over the years. I don't know if he's dead or alive in today's world. The original seven songs were recorded with the music of Ronald Halicki and Philip Kachaturian, with arrangements by David Wallace for the movie.
Oh my god! Heaven has arrived! i LOVE these songs and am desperate to get them on CD/MP3 can anybody burn a CD for me so i can have all the songs? i will pay you via paypal for your efforts! thanks so much for posting these on here, its great to hear them!
Thanks man for sharing this awesome music. I remember seeing this film as a 13 year old. I agree, they should have used the original music on the DVD. Big mistake to "modernize" the soundtrack. By the way, does anyone know what the title is of the music played when the the drunk guy takes his dog for a walk ( his nagging wife asks him to do) and finds his Mustang being stolen. Later on, his car was returned back at his driveway, and the guy was arrested by the police?
Wow thank you for finding these. I would love to figure out a way to get these songs on my mp3 player so I can listen to these while I am cruising in my 'Cuda and later on in life my clone of Elenore
@DiscoKat "Lois Lane Blues" and "Gone in 60 Seconds" are both in stereo on the original Theft Records 45; I got a copy for $2.00 at the Halicki estate auction - wish I'd bought a dozen!
I've been looking for this for years. Great job finding it. The 33" LP is impossible to find and I can find no record of Phil Kachaturian's music career outside of Gone in 60 Seconds, and even that has been erased from the new DVD. Thanks for posting this!
H.B. Halicki and Phil Kachaturian released a 33" LP soundtrack in 1974 with this song and "Gone in 60 Seconds" on it. The others were never released except by Kachaturian on the Internet years later, unless I am mistaken.
This version is only just slightly different to the one in the film (no echoing chorus at the start).
@RandalBauer11 Yes, he posted them all (including the elusive "Low Rider") in MP3 format on an unofficial "Gone in 60 Seconds" website about ten years ago. The website is still around but unfortunately the songs are not. I don't think they were available to download for long. There was also an email address for Phil but it seems to be invalid now.
Thanks for posting - I am hugely impressed: how did you get this without the movie sound effects in the BG? As far as I know there wasn't a soundtrack album - was there?
I think there was a cassette released in the 70s or 80s with the soundtrack, but as for getting it it was difficult i had to search the internet for days going through dead links until i managed to find a working link with the tracks
70s was so inocent for me as a kid /teen.awesome tune & moive!

I've heard around that Halicki and Kachaturian started up a record label, 'Grand Theft Records,' If I remember right, to release that soundtrack on.
RandalBauer11 1 year ago
Wait, so Kachaturian put out the music himself?
