@nathanpisces the f50 gt has around 720 hp.. the engine is mounted mid just in front of the rear axle thus reducing moving parts weight, and generating more grip.. the reason that some supras have 900 hp is because of their huge turbos, witch also creates huge turbo lag, the f50 gt doesnt have turbo at all. the weight is is less than the supra, and the aerodynamics is alot better, in a quarter mile it would be faster and on a track with cornering phew ;) dont give me wrong love supras..

@nathanpisces well no matter what, a turbocharged engine with 500 hp is not as good as a 500 hp normally aspirated engine. and yeah japanese cars handle well but you wont be able to convince me that a supra is faster than a f50 gt. that being said. even the most custom supra wont cost 5 friggin millon dollars, also the f50 gt isnt quite the average ferrari, many ferraris only have 400 bhp or so. but i know what you mean ;)

Because all Ferrari has ever really cared about is F1 from the '80s forward. They were completely absent from the Group C glory days at Le Mans and didn't make much of an effort with the mighty F40. They completely left the F50 and Enzo out in the cold in organized sports car racing....could have been great. When privateers like Pro Drive finally started backing the 550 Maranello, it showed tremendous speed, although it really needed a full factory effort....

Well, a Supra is at least road LEGAL, whereas the F50 GT1 is STRICTLY a racecar for the now defunct GT1 sportscar series.
Oh, and if you had bothered to do some research about this F50GT1, then you'd realize that not only is it NOT road legal, but only 1 was ever made, and the buyer had to sign a contract NEVER to race it EVER.
So it was a racecar which never once entered a single GT1 race.

In racing it's common to have restrictions on engine size which makes DOHC the better way to go because DOHC engines make more power for their size than OHV engines. That's why almost everyone uses DOHC in racing. Yes OHV is more reliable, but it can't make the power per Litre DOHC engines make which is why its useless in track racing with engine size restrictions.
@aieljose I think an OHV engine could make similar power with same cc/cu.in. if it was really necessary. I think the whole scam is to sell more camshafts,and chains, tensioners, etc. For the 'speed' that the DOHC's have to sustain, it really isn't worth the cost. It's just all advertising hype. At the end of the day, no-one really cares if an engine has 500 pushrods, or 12 000 worn bucket/shim assemblies. What matters is suckering-in people to buy dah stuff. Time for yachting. Ha, ha,...

@nathanpisces the f50 gt has around 720 hp.. the engine is mounted mid just in front of the rear axle thus reducing moving parts weight, and generating more grip.. the reason that some supras have 900 hp is because of their huge turbos, witch also creates huge turbo lag, the f50 gt doesnt have turbo at all. the weight is is less than the supra, and the aerodynamics is alot better, in a quarter mile it would be faster and on a track with cornering phew ;) dont give me wrong love supras..

Is the F50 GT1 street legal? cos if it isn't don't say it'll be quicker when street legal Titan supra does 7.71 @188mph in the 1/4 and being japanese, it'll corner well anyway. Given same work done to it to make the GT50 handle the way it does. Supra ftw :)

@nathanpisces well no matter what, a turbocharged engine with 500 hp is not as good as a 500 hp normally aspirated engine. and yeah japanese cars handle well but you wont be able to convince me that a supra is faster than a f50 gt. that being said. even the most custom supra wont cost 5 friggin millon dollars, also the f50 gt isnt quite the average ferrari, many ferraris only have 400 bhp or so. but i know what you mean ;)

@MrLillejeppe fair play with what you say, but turbo is always better than n/a for performance, cos at the correct revs the turbo will just pump air in faster, reving faster, gaining speed faster.. may only be a split second change in 1/4 times, but its still a win y'know? Only thing n/a is better for is sound of the engine. I'l conceive that... ah yer lol it only takles £18k to BUY the supra AND GET 850bhp XD

Because all Ferrari has ever really cared about is F1 from the '80s forward. They were completely absent from the Group C glory days at Le Mans and didn't make much of an effort with the mighty F40. They completely left the F50 and Enzo out in the cold in organized sports car racing....could have been great. When privateers like Pro Drive finally started backing the 550 Maranello, it showed tremendous speed, although it really needed a full factory effort....

The noise that this monster emits will literally send chills down your spine. Its on a level of ferocity that levels that of F1 cars. Well, a Supra is at least road LEGAL, whereas the F50 GT1 is STRICTLY a racecar for the now defunct GT1 sportscar series.
Oh, and if you had bothered to do some research about this F50GT1, then you'd realize that not only is it NOT road legal, but only 1 was ever made, and the buyer had to sign a contract NEVER to race it EVER.
So it was a racecar which never once entered a single GT1 race.

In racing it's common to have restrictions on engine size which makes DOHC the better way to go because DOHC engines make more power for their size than OHV engines. That's why almost everyone uses DOHC in racing. Yes OHV is more reliable, but it can't make the power per Litre DOHC engines make which is why its useless in track racing with engine size restrictions.

I think the whole scam is to sell more camshafts,and chains, tensioners, etc. For the 'speed' that the DOHC's have to sustain, it really isn't worth the cost. It's just all advertising hype. At the end of the day, no-one really cares if an engine has 500 pushrods, or 12 000 worn bucket/shim assemblies. What matters is suckering-in people to buy dah stuff. Time for yachting. Ha, ha,...

Remove all the shelves in Canadian TIre that have to do with engine lubrication, etc. and you will have a smaller store. Same goes for Summit, Jegs, Napa, etc. An engine that could stay at room temp. without coolant at all rpm's, and with the flick of a switch produce heat, would be cool. It would require a space age coating on all friction surfaces.

In summer you don't need friction, or heat, so you switch off the special crystals with a dash switch. In winter, switch the crystals to friction mode, then you get heat. Fuel should combust completely without engine warmup. All engines, including Ferraris, are designed under the guillotine of the oil companies.
