  • Craiessou it's right. This is nothing but a slow-downed part of a well known Romanian song from pre WW2 era called "Ionel, Ionelule".

    Check the link below:

  • I think they who decided or made this to be Rom Anthem, did lyrics for Rom ppl and it have great message to all Roma over the world. Beautifful music why fight over it just play it

  • @video257 The beginning of the first sentence above should be: Can you document your affirmations, please, by sending me an email with your facts:

  • @video257

You can check by your own on wikipedia ( search gelem gelem) and after please delete his comment.

This type of music, the nomad music, doesn't have a compositor.

I know that it sounds strange, but just to give you an example please check who wroght Romeo and Juliet.

Probably MrCraiessou will say that it was Shakespeare (we already know that he is dumb), but if you make a small search again on wikipedia ....

  • @bojycs I appreciate your comment here but please give me 30 days (maximum): I intend to do an indepth study on his claims and will get back to you and publish here the results. Thanks again.

  • @MrCraiessou Can you document your 3 claims, please, by sending me an email with your facts: 1, that it was written in 1937 by Romanian composer George Sbarcea for a Romanian musical in Alhambra Theater Bucarest, 2, that the composer was a Hitler and Mussolini admirer. I am a Canadian with neither rom nor romanian origins and I will not leave here, in these comments, unsupported claims. If you provide these facts, I will include them here above.

  • @MrCraiessou Can you document your affirmations please by sending me an email with your facts: your first affirmation that it was written in 1937 by Romanian composer George Sbarcea, for a Romanian musical in Alhambra Theatre Bucharest and your second affirmation that the composer was a Hitler an Mussolini admirer. I am a canadian with neither rom nor romanian origins and I will not leave here, in these comments, unsupported claims. If you provide these facts, I will include them here above.

  • @MrCraiessou

Esti un bou, daca esti prost stai in banca ta. Melodia e mai veche decat strabunica ta, proasta si ea altfel nu se explica existenta ta.

And to translate for our other friends, this song is very very old and doesn't have any connection with any romanian compositor. In fact it has gypsy russian origins.

After the WW2 holocaust the lyrics were changed with the actual ones in order to exprim the gypsy sufferance and now this is the gypsy anthem.

  • @bojycs Truth hurts!Jelem jelem is a combination of two stolen tunes.Apart the refrain, the rest is "Ionel,Ionelule"by G.Sbarcea, composed in 1938.Sorry if you are deaf!Cat despre partea in romana se vede clar ce nivel intelectual ai!Insultele de la idioti afoni ca tine ma onoreaza!Tiganii sa inceapa si ei sa compuna melodii originale nu sa fure de unde pot,cum fac si cu manelele.

  • @MrCraiessou

The facts you present are interesting;however the world unfortunately requires proof - this is how acadamia works! Please be so kind as to put up on Youtube examples (or direct to examples) justifying your declarations.Let it not be said you are victimised - please adequately defend yourself before people decide they have had enough of you.

    Best wishes.

  • @Churchillsrevenge Just google the names..You are the victims. The 1971 Congress gave you a fake anthem, fake name, fake history. If you feel comfortable with an 1937 Far Right youngsters hit as an anthem, that's fine with me.A new wailing sound and new lyrics do not change a light music-hall Romanian tune. You can easily delete my comm.but you cannot delete the truth.

  • Nearly 45% of Y chromosomes belong to haplogroup VI-68, and a single lineage within that haplogroup, found across Romani populations, accounts for almost one-third of Romani males. A similar preservation of a highly resolved male lineage has been reported elsewhere only for Jewish priests

  • Says, "Beautiful! I know you're Roma (dre do sfteto sare - I don't know what he says here). Lucky. Lots of luck and good health.

Technically there's not real way to write Gypsy, you basically write it how it's pronounced so that's why the few other words couldn't be trnalsated - couldn't get it.

  • Oops, lol. This is my brother's account, I thought I was on mine - JulianaKartsona.

  • Puppybur: please relay my thanks to your sister, JulianaKartsona.

  • I just wanted to say "nais tuke" (thank you) to you for posting these videos. :)

    Sastipe.

  • The translation is def. a bit off, it might be some of the same words yes - but he's also singing about meeting up with some gypsies, getting drunk with them, and seeing a beautiful girl, with black hair and eyes, and a red head scarf. He does talk about traveling roads, and the he went, went (djelem), but NOTHING about murder, people dying.

  • Just for the fact, these Roma are Kalderasha, nothing wrong with it, but my fam is Machuwaya, even though the language is almost the same, there is differences - so it's like getting 80%-90%, not completely clear to me.

  • Bravo phrales , sastipe, bahtale me sim rom ando Canada

  • Gypsies are entitled not only to their culture but also to their own homeland. The entire world should see to this rightful historical demand. It is Europe's moral responsability to do so, specially after the infamous Gypsy holocaust perpetrated by the Germans and their partners in mass murder. Long live the GYPSY REPUBLIC!!
