how do i add extra fonts to photoshop? i can only add extra fonts to paint but not photoshop why is dat?

Install the fonts in the operating system... not Photoshop itself.

In Windows, just copy/move the font to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts, then restart Photoshop.

From what I know, it's not even necessary to restart Photoshop.

I have Cs3, and when I add a new font, it's immediately in the font list of PS.
