  • @skidrowjosephine

Gets harder to hit high notes when you reach that age. Happens to everyone. Lead singers of Iron Maiden and The Who have trouble reaching the notes in their own songs now. Fine by me as long as they still give a good show, but at these ages a band would have to be in the Rolling Stones vein to have the kind of songs and stamina required to really rock it onstage.

  • Sounding great, boys!

  • 53rd birthday this year. My uncle and dad have been singing this song to me as long as I can remember. It always made me feel so special. Wonderful to finally see the artists singing it live. Much better sound than the version I've been hearing all of these years. Love it!

  • I will always love this song... so beautiful.. =) great performance

  • nice...my name is Denise .

  • what is the guy's name that is in the black jacket on the far right?

  • @sammiepatches That's Mike Zero.. but you can see he's lip syncing.. but, not for the reason of not trying.. he's being a filler for the missing member, and perhaps he forgot the words..

  • @SladderBux thanks. i was young when a lot of the good music came out.

  • @sammiepatches hey when i was young.. back in 72 or so, i thought the main lyric was "oh denny skooby doo..." lol

  • Wonder the old fart doesn't need a walker! Ha!

  • too bad Randy;s falsetto is almost empty.

  • @Howieshet too bad Randy;s falsetto is almost empty.

You hit the nail on the head. Has beens. Two thumbs up for that comment!

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • SIT BACK-PUT YOUR FEET UP--CLOSE YOUR EYES AND BE TRANSPORTED BACK TO THOSE MAGICAL DAYS!!!!

  • beautiful sound

  • calihartley2010 Your concern is touching but I am not in any kind of pain. Rock'n'Roll & Doo-Wop music, like this song will cure heartache, sorrow & broken hearts, failing that, have a go at surfing(hence my Longboarder name) it can change your life & make you feel born again! I love the comments on this page! It's my favourite on YT, Take care.

  • great song

  • omg, I can't believe how good they sound, voices are strong

  • I'm surprised none of those guys needed a cane or a walker to get off the stage at the end of the song! Ha!

  • @SkidRowJosephine I am assuming you are not that age, Yet. I think they look and sound great. Wait untill you get to be that age, if you make it that far, and see how you feel.

  • Good point miss whisper.

  • LIBERALS?? CONSERVATIVES?? "EGG HEAD" OBAMA?? How does politics find its way onto YT's MUSIC site?! (SMH)

  • WOW! They still look and sound great.

  • It's too late they're already here! The UK is being flooded by people from third world countries flocking here to live on welfare /benefits & obtain free health care. Ironically , most people who live on benefits are actually better off than those who work for a living, that's why we have so much trouble with ethnic minorities. We must not bring politics into music! cgemout1 is right, let's just listen to & enjoy the music,

  • @longboarder771 yes, like locusts after they had exhausted the resources and over bred, they move on to another place.

  • @longboarder771 I pity the brits and fell your pain.

  • Hey Hey , whats all this Libtard, troglodyte talk. Its just a song to be enjoyed, not to scratch each others eyes out about anything. Chillout and enjoy!

  • @cgemout1 yeah, your right, but politics is thick in the air these days.lol

  • @JDWnSRV Oh yeah, it may seem like that to you, but if you open your eyes and see and when reality bites your butt, then we will see who will be whimpering like an neanderthal. Now go smoke a joint and shut up.

  • @calihartley2010 i also respect you're right to express your views on you tune and let some of the youngsters get a sense of how a guy that stands by his convictions can enjoy life and fun music . liberals are the most uptight people when you disagree with them. a conservative will try to reason libs just shout tirades most are the fakest nerdiest people around.. the sister of that little nerd that started face book wants to censure it. that just tells me little libtard .lol

  • @1986billyk yeah, libs are all baout if you do not accept their views, then you must be a racist. That is the only weapon they have. I agree, atleast with conservative you can have an honest argument and then decide if they are right or wrong. Liberals just shout in your face and slam the door. Moreover, they are all for helping others from afar, but when someone comes to their door, they just slam it shut.

  • @calihartley2010 yeah i think most of their (liberals) parents were racists or queers because they are so over the top with paranoid political correctness. they were never really the cool kids in school. look at clinton a fat-boy nerd in school and the same for obama another egg head chess club pres.lol the only people that think they are cool is other nerds.unfotunatley america is full of em.oh im sorry am i cyber bullying ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ get a life PC libtard faggots lol.

  • @1986billyk Well I am glad that you are on the conservative side. However you should not act like them by calling them names. That is what liberals resort to when they are cornered. Conservatives have more class. Please refrain from your name calling. Please remain conservative and classy.

  • calihartley2010 As much as I agree with you, regrettably, I cannot see standards reverting to how they once were. We all saw film footage of Muslims, including children, cheering, jumping for joy after the aftermath of 9/11. What sort of a God/religion says unless you all follow Allah, we will kill or murder you? It defies belief? In the UK I could face charges of inciting racial hatred for saying things like this, so let's just enjoy the songs that we like, no matter the colour of the artistes.

  • @longboarder771 Well then show that you mean business and standup for what you believe in. You are just being patriotic. I believe that the UK government must not let in muslims.

  • Oh Denise, Scooby Doo, I'm in love with you, Denise Scooby Doo, I'm in love with you, Denise Scooby Doo, I'm in love with you!! Love this song!! :D

  • My name is Denise also, but with eyes so brown and hair so blonde...still...I love the song that sings my name!

  • If I ever have a blue eyed daughter, I want to name her Denise after this song! Classic!

  • WOW FANTASTIC, Randy sounds so good.

  • my name is denise but i have brown eyes aha

  • i loved it when they would play this special on tv..seen it at least fifteen times

  • I love this song and the two '58 Impala convertibles behind them, I have the hardtop version, her name's Betty! ;)

  • One of the greatest Doo Wop songs ever.So many memories. He sounds pretty damn good also.

  • PBS does these groups proud to bring them on stage again and share the spotlights. Love this era of music.

  • I hate this song more than anything in the World.

  • Brings back lots of cruising memories .

  • @rob327race god i hate this song

  • @deniseleekc girls named denise usually like it a girl in my class whos name is denise whos sister was miss teenaga america liked it

  • calihartley. You are absolutely right! I agree with every word you have said, you should be in Politics. you would definitely get my vote!

  • @longboarder771 Wow, I never saw your comment until now. Thank you and I would be honored to get your vote. Thank God for people like you who still believe that the world 50 years ago was a great place and not some libtards who try and make it look like it was bleak because of racism. That is the only thing that they hold onto to make the golden era in the US look hopeless. Other than that they have nothing else on this beautiful era. Long live the US and this golden era. 1776-1965

  • @calihartley2010 As much as I would like to, I would be unable to vote for you as I live in the UK, & I am not too sure what a libtard is? But put me down as being for you & being on your side. This wasn.t a hit over here, but the Blondie/Debbie Harry cover version became a hit in 1978, but I prefer the original, I just love it & never get tired of listening to it. Do Politics & music go together? somehow I doubt it? I'll just vote on the music.

  • @longboarder771 Wheter you vote on music or in politics, I am sure you will vote right. I do not like the blondie version but like randy's version. Nothing can beat that. Libtard is liberal+retard. So it is an american thing. Liberals are ruining the US and UK. I am sure bad things are happening in the UK too. I am in the US and i do fear for the Uk because of the muslims there. I hope we can help our countries get rid of the bad apples and go back to our old values and prosper once again.

  • @calihartley2010

What if Randy is liberal??? Horrors!

  • @partymonsterri Well maybe not as liberal as the libtards out there. I am sure when he made his song in 1962, he must've been very much an average all american boy who loved this country. It takes more than just one liberal to do bad stuff.

  • @calihartley2010 As a proud Liberal I truly resent being called a "Libtard"... At least I'm not calling you childish names, you Right Wing troglodyte! < Not at all childish

  • @Shoknifeman well if you are liberal then you must try the conservative side. It is more fun. Then why did you call me childish names when you resented being called a libtard. Shows where your principles lie.

  • @calihartley2010 Well, since when do children use the word troglodyte? ;) Anyway, I just wanted to give you a little taste of your own medecine. As for joining the conservative side; I prefer to be on the side that believes that everyone deserves a little happiness, not just those who get rich on the backs of others.

  • @Shoknifeman wow you are way off man. Conservatives believe in rewarding a person for his hard work. Only liberals or if you prefer libtards believe that people need to give their money to bums who walk with their pants down and do not do anything in life. I see that you are in the wrong party. Maybe it is not too late to shift.

  • @calihartley2010 BS, my parents almost worked themselves to death for 30 years, only to have the free trader conservatives who ran the factory shut down their plant and send their jobs to Egypt and steal their pension fund to pay off creditors. Conservatives think a jobless economy is fine, so long as the rich make their huge dividends and get their tax loopholes... anyway, theres NO way I would ever join the Cons.

  • @Shoknifeman Well you are from canada, so why are you trying to act like a US citizen and trying to make your views know. Go and fight with your fellow canadians. As for your parents, i am sorry about that, but big corporations are greedy and they need to be penalized.

  • @calihartley2010

    @Shoknifeman

Could we just put the damn politics aside for a moment and enjoy this great music?

  • @ladyvee7110 Ofocirse we enjoy this song. We were merely arguing about the differences in politics and music, then and now. Well politics does infuence the trash we hear now and the godd stuff we used to hear before.

  • @calihartley2010 you have a great feel for what is beautiful about ancient american life.... full of optimism and blue skys. i think we hit a momentary bump in the road cause people took advantage of our giving friendly nature. this crisis will make us better and we will come out on top. to be blunt we americans are the nicest, funest ,most generous on the planet and everyone would do well to emulate our ways. that is why god blessed us cause we want to help people first instead of gloating.

  • Wow this is amazing Randy & The Rainbows together once again singing a classic hit Denise from 1963 :D my favorite song.

  • This is the only love song about Scooby Doo.

  • ***Ah the sixties ** Ah DENISE ! *♥*

  • Things were always better yesterday. I mean literally yesterday: on March 19, 2011, they were better. Today's always a bitch.

  • everthing was better back then, or maybe we were to young too know any better?

  • Brilliant original version which of course was covered by Blondie as Denis! Warm Wishes - Denise

  • why is it always the big guy with the beard that sings the soprano part?

  • I love this song!!!!

  • Haha!!! Their singing to me.. How sweet!!

  • I'm a big Beatles fan but I loved doo wop as well and to me Randy and The Rainbows and this song in particular are the demarcation line between doo wop ant the British sound. Still love this song.

  • @bobrich1QEDJ5 DITTO WHAT YOU JUST SAID. This & the 4 Seasons were the last of that era. Only the 4 Seasons (the great Frankie Valli) survived.

  • @WileERobby Have you noticed how difficult it is to find Frankie Valli and the four seasons music here on youtube?

  • @ekocentric yes... especially he being one of the greatest vocalists, I would love to see/hear live performances

  • @ekocentric Have you noticed how difficult it is to find a lot of good stuff here on YouTube? Thank our friends at WMG for starters...

  • @thecountofbasie I have noticed. A lot of the songs on my playlists were erased because of copyright infringements. When I tried to delete the ones that were missing I finally gave up because it was too hard to lose so many great songs. I.E. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is nearly gone from youtube.

  • 1963....at it's best!!!!

  • I am a "Denise" but with brown eyes. Of course I love this song!

  • I remember this song; early sixties?

  • @Athabina 1963

  • @kovachfg

    Christian

  • wow this song is fab but this rendition sucks........like ****

  • Looks like many in the audience grew up on a steady diet of Hostess Twinkies.

  • My babysitter used to listen to these guys when I was a kid and she'd babysit my brothers and me.

  • Ohh Denise :D:D:D

  • Just found out they hailed from Maspeth NY, Went out with a girl from there a long time ago, however her name was Paula, not Denise.

  • Actually, "Denise" was written by Neil Levenson, and was inspired by his childhood friend, Denice Lefrak.

    Source: Milestones, Billboard, Feb. 2, 2008, p. 60.

  • I'll take those days, any day. Thanks so much for Posting such awesome memories.

  • THERECKOMAN....Thankyou for your sweet comment, Best of Luck to you for 2010...!!!

  • That is my Name and blue eyes as well I got engaged that year and he went into the marines he said that was his song to me ahhh memories

  • My name is Denise too with hazel brown eyes....

  • It is scooby doo and it was the inspiration for the cartoon

    Nuff said

  • Actually, Fred Silverman (executive in charge of children's programming for the CBS network at the time) was inspired by Frank Sinatra's scat "doo-be-doo-be-doo" he heard at the end of Bert Kaempfert's song "Strangers in the Night" on the way out one of their pre-production meetings, and decided to the dog in the series "Scooby-Doo" and call the show Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

  • omg thank you i didnt know that.... that like blew my mind im serious lol Scooby DOO NOW ITS MAKES SENSE :D!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Randy & the Rainbows (3) aka the Dialtones (3) (Maspeth,Queens, New-York)

  • My name is Denise, but l have dark brown eyes.......my husband sometimes sings it to me, mostly when he has done something wrong.....!!!!!!!

  • Hahahaha Thats my name.. I wish someone was really singing this song to me...

  • Nice to be able to visit youtube and find videos like this! Always loved this song and others with doowop styles. Got a great beat and can dance to it! Oh, and nice, singing and accompaniment--everything in tune!

  • just about everything was better back then. the cars, the music, even the people were nicer and better looking.

  • @ElephantDrunk yes, you are right. people were thinner and healthier. They were also hopeful about the future. Today's people are so fat, unheatlthy, badly dressed and crazy. They only like music which cannot be called music but CRAP. The food is bad, kids do not play outside but only on the computer and everyone has to give into minorities and thier crazy demands. How things have changed because of the libtards. Blame them for all the world's problems.

  • @ElephantDrunk yeah, today we actually have mutants, young and old walking, stumbling around.thank god for revival bands.

  • ,,oh Denise scooby doo, I'm in love with you Denise, scooby doo....LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!

  • hey my name is Denise....but I have brown hazel eyes....but it is ok

  • For MsDenisemarie - Must be cool to have a song with your name. I bet all guys sing this song too you :-)

  • I know someone like that, same name as yours. She is also a redhead.

  • On Ron Smith's Oldies board there is a debate right now about whether they are singing "dooby doo", "shooby doo" or "scooby doo"" I hear "dooby doo." What say you?

  • It's dooby doo.

  • Scooby Doo.

  • YES it is. Randy set it straight in a interview 20 years ago.

  • Thank you. My dad was one of the background singers in the original recording, that's how I know it's not "scooby doo." And they just released a new CD (or getting ready to), I've got the CD my dad gave me so I'm not even sure it's officially out yet.

  • it is dooby doo you are correct, Mitch.

which one of the original members is you dad. they are from Maspeth Queens right?

  • scooby doo

  • I agree Bass. I can tell that the lead singer was not too happy. It was a bit fast...

  • omg i love this

    song cuz thats my name!

  • 50,60,70's Oh Yeah.....................

  • The vocals are terrific, but the moronic disco drum beat entirely destroys the mood. Thanks and congrats to the singers, and a pile of turds to the drummer.

    mh

  • Wonderful, classic doo woop, I knew this song in 1992, Rhino Doo Woop Uptempo.

It's a Pleasure to hear this classic live!

    thanks JackStarkey in Brazil...

  • YEAH !!!!

Listening to this restores your faith in human nature.

    This is just fantastic.

    YEAH !!!!

    Muito obrigado, mi amigo.

  • I just met a fantastic girl named Denise that totally swept me off me feet. This song kicks ass more than ever.

  • The first time I ever heard this song (actually I think it was well after the fact in '72) I had a raging crush on a girl named Denise...I bought a copy at an oldies store...she loved it when I played it for her...but sadly nothing came of it...still great memories and a great song

  • How's it going with her?

  • Its going good! She just took me to dinner.

  • @theboomster

    All Denise's are amazing : )

    LOL I am one haha

  • Fantastic song and group. A great sound. I only wish Randy could do the high falsetto parts, like he used to. The guy with the mustache does a great job.

  • If it was'nt for Old School, we wouldn't have the crap we have to listen to today...Long live Rock and Rollllllllll

  • @nort17 You are so right!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Great song and performance!!!

  • I LOVE this AND the Blondi version... why does it have to be either/or...They're both great in their own way. I am thrilled when groups like Blondi and even GunsNRoses reference the classics! Introduces the new kids to the good stuff. Thanks!

  • lol holy my friends uncle is in this

  • "i think the blondie version is better "

Then you are crazy. This is the copy of the original and so much better then Blondie, who I like.

  • The original was in French, back in the early '60s?

    Riiight.
