If laws don't uphold those values, it pretty much defeats the purpose of having them, doesn't it? That's why we are having the issues right now with the Arizona Immigration Law. It's un-Constitutional. From what I've read of the Charter, it mirrors the U.S. Constitution in every way.

While this is all very troubling, I just don't understand why this guy didn't present Real News with photographs of his injuries. He seems to have healed very quickly for someone who was as severely beaten as he says he was. Yes, (bearing in mind I am not a Canadian citizen and can't press for it by writing to an MP or anything), as long as it's not a whitewash, but a proper investigation into what happened, it is apparent from video evidence that police behaved with undue brutality, which should be exposed and condemned.

That has to be held to far higher standards, and officers misbehaving must be brought to account, even if others may have behaved worse in other countries (which is a pretty mediocre excuse for them) otherwise it's down the slippery slope.
