@zhanehulk: Thanks for the questions! A few answers below... email me at sarah@se.rit.edu and I'll answer the rest: - Programming is writing the actual code that makes software work. Programming is a part of Software Engineering (SE), but SE also includes working with customers, designing the structure, testing and more. - Why choose SE? The job market is good (see 3:58) and the field is flexible. You can work in computer gaming, finance, healthcare or defense, to name just a few!
@wrathofthewei3: Great observation! The average starting salary data cited in this video came from a past survey of RIT's graduating class of Software Engineers, and is representative of salaries from a wide range of geographic locations. You can find updated starting salary information for graduates from RIT’s Software Engineering and other academic programs at rit.edu/co-op/careers
The salary data isn't exactly accurate. It might have been beneficial to cite the source of the information and explain how it was calculated, e.g. which part of the country, because obviously salary varies with cost of living indexes. Also, a date would let people know in the future that the data was a little outdated. Point being, software engineers typically get paid much more than that.
can I ask u some questions?
1: What is the critical difference between software engineering and software programming?
2: How many programming languages are available?
3: What is the best programming language?
4: What is the difference between OS and VM?
5: Is Java a programming language or otherwise?
6: How do u design a software?
7: What is the benefit of software engineering in present and future technology?
8: Why would I choose a career in software engineering?
Please answer immediately.
