Definitely not an old person's Cadillac. Too much power for the average senior citizen. Of course, I thought regular Cadillacs' had too much power for old people. They certainly have came a long ways since the Fleetwood land yachts of the old days of Cadillac.
While Caddy beated the M5 and, to some extent, the Mercedes E63 with simple technology, its engine may end up being more complex later on due to the performance wars and environmental regulations. So, it's going to have to go through BMW's, Audi's, and MB's ordeals of unreliability to stay competitive.

It sure is more expensive, and a Ferrari is more expensive than that. You get what you pay for basically. I have driven both cars and the drive quality is different as night and day. M5 is much more refined. However I do drive a Maserati myself.
I would never compare the current M5 to the new CTSv because it is 6 years older. The 2004-Current M5 dominates the 2005-2008 CTSv line. The 2009 CTSv will compete with the next M5.

At this price level, if someone can afford a 80 K CTSv, they should be able to afford a 100K M5. If not they shouldn't be buying these cars.

Weather you guys want to except it or not the CTS-V is the fastest "sport Luxury Sedan" on the market in the $60,000 to $70,000 price range. You guys can try to bash the car all you want but facts are facts. Are the BMW M5 and Mercedes Benz E63 AMG great Sport luxury sedans? Absolutely but they can't beat the CTS-V for the money and to be honest its only a "perception" that makes people think that their somehow better then a Cadillac.
The CTSv that hit the 7:59 mark was the pre-production model with no amenities. It was 400 lbs. lighter than the car you get at the dealer. They also ran the car with race tires, illegal on U.S. roads.
Panamera is Top Dog so far. The 2004 M5 is the same 2010 M5 today, next F10 M5 will be out in 2011-12 to continue its reign.
Mind telling us where you got that info from? That sounds like some made up crap! John Heinricy was the guy that was piloting the CTS-V when he ran that record time around the Nuremburg ring. According to him the car was stock aside from the fact that it had a antiroll cage installed in it.

While Caddy beated the M5 and, to some extent, the Mercedes E63 with simple technology, its engine may end up being more complex later on due to the performance wars and environmental regulations. 2011gt500 weighs less has same power is a 2 door and built with 4 cams and a supercharger and still gets its ass spanked by a 4 door caddy. makes me wonder how bad a 2012 z28 will beat one and o the 2011 cts-v coupe runs 12.0 at like 119 mph get some ford and the 2010 camaro ss runs 12.8 at 111 mph and the 5.slow is just talked up how come its faster than a shelby ???

half the people here probably have never driven or owned a 50k+ base price car. Sure the new cts-v is a faster car than the m5, but thats not the whole driving experience. I'd rather have more meaning to my car than just having performance. BMW motorsports has more history than a cadillc v -series. BMW just has a better driving experience than cadillac in my opinion. Caddilac does not say fast or fun to me as BMW does. -every man is entitled to his own opinion-

It sure is more expensive, and a Ferrari is more expensive than that. You get what you pay for basically. I have driven both cars and the drive quality is different as night and day. M5 is much more refined. However I do drive a Maserati myself.
I would never compare the current M5 to the new CTSv because it is 6 years older. The 2004-Current M5 dominates the 2005-2008 CTSv line. The 2009 CTSv will compete with the next M5.
Yes it is more expensive, but it it also better.

At this price level, if someone can afford a 80 K CTSv, they should be able to afford a 100K M5. If not they shouldn't be buying these cars.
The 2004 M5 is the same M5 out today.
The 2009 CTSv will compete with the next M5.

Weather you guys want to except it or not the CTS-V is the fastest "sport Luxury Sedan" on the market in the $60,000 to $70,000 price range. You guys can try to bash the car all you want but facts are facts. Are the BMW M5 and Mercedes Benz E63 AMG great Sport luxury sedans? Absolutely but they can't beat the CTS-V for the money and to be honest its only a "perception" that makes people think that their somehow better then a Cadillac.

The CTSv that hit the 7:59 mark was the pre-production model with no amenities. It was 400 lbs. lighter than the car you get at the dealer. They also ran the car with race tires, illegal on U.S. roads.
Panamera is Top Dog so far. The 2004 M5 is the same 2010 M5 today, next F10 M5 will be out in 2011-12 to continue its reign.
