why 64 bit

it only has 3gb ram

i though 64 bit is for 4gb+ support of ram

Vista 64bit is 2gb+ support of RAM.

I have 4gb of RAM and Vista is running fine. :D

Actually 32 bit operating systems address 3.5 GB of RAM total. This includes the ram on your graphics card to. So say your graphics card is 1GB you could theoretically be left as little as 2.5 GB.

All of the Drivers SHOULD be signed. There should be no reason why not. Only really old and bad hardware wont support it.

BTW 64bit isnt just for 4gb ram. The increase memory structure can help in speed and processing.

they should have a option to turn it off in control panel or something simular

Any Proper Hardware should have signed drivers. If the company fails to provide them it means they dont care about the customer. Yes its expensive to get 64bit drivers (about 1500 dollars a year) just to get MS to sign the drivers but it proves the hardware company looks after their customers and has their best interests.

MOST comsumers really dont care/know what signed drivers are

and it hurts open source community.

Like virtualbox. You cant run vista 64bit inside virtualbox with the vbox drivers because it isnt signed.

I think its more of a money-making thing

vista on my computer takes up around 1.5 gb after boot.

If you open firefox, which seems like it has a mem leak+opera which takes 300mb ram if you use it enough

Thatäs weird, because vista on my laptop which has 2gb uses about 600-700mb, and is enought for all the basic stuff. It's not really enough for gaming etc but still.

Well, the difference isn't that big, since Vista 32-bit can only address a maximum of around 3.5GB of RAM.
