Good video, but I think you've missed an important factor in these examples. For all the volleys that demonstrate carving across the body, they are all close to the body without the proper prep to turn sideways. On all those where you demonstrate a more driving motion, Mark had time to turn sideways and drive through those. Don't you think it's the combination of the low volley and the more open stance that dictates the carving motion? He had not choice but to take it out front w/open stance
@Angler180DC Yes you are sort of correct the lower the volley the more carving but too many of my students have the tendency to block or punch all their volleys. I definitely recommend to have ( a little) slice in most volleys especially when your are driving the ball, ultimately spin controls the ball and the slice is the spin of choice when volleying (well beside the swinging topspin volleys of course!!) Thanks for watching and your comments. C.
Taking a close look at the FH volley comparison. The low volley is more inside his body so he has to "wipe" across. The high ball is more to his side so he can go through more. Would a low FH volley away from his body still be outside in? I wouldn't think so but I could be wrong.
Need exercise tips for tennis ?
