I'm super-scared of meteor impacts, but somehow, the way that the Japanese go about presenting this, with such DRAAAMATIIIC music, makes me feel...somehow less afraid.
The one thing about the probability that may comfort; it's really like a galactic shooting gallery. But rreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy big. Odds are much much much better of winning every time at a crooked Carnie's shooting game than this actually happening. And, as others have mentioned; something that big would be easier to see coming. Like terrorists; the big groups are obvious, but the lone wolves that act alone are damned hard to find before they hit.
I'm pretty sure we can predict if a meteor of that size was coming, which would give us at least 50 years to prepare. Therefore we can get the hell out of here before it hits. Or because of its sheer size it can be deflected away from us by Jupiter or even orbit the sun. So don't worry people. lol
bit meteordan daha gerçek ve yakın bir sorunumuz var. küresel ısınma (global heating, warm-up big denger) hepsinden yakın bir gerçek tüm dünyanın bunun için önlem alması gerekli

From NHK, Japanese public broadcasting channel. Title: Earth, 46 Billion years of history. That red larva looking on center of impacts: Vaporized rock, soon covers the whole atmosphere. about 4000℃, vaporizes the ocean and ice from Himalaya. 4000℃ clouds reach to Amazon, a day after the impact, tree reaches an ignition point.
SOmething like that. I love this video tho, not sure the Earth would still maintain its orbit and slope, but maybe that's not the point for this.

This looks neat but its WAY off. If a meteor that size impacts Earth, I doubt it'll keep its spherical shape, maybe a deformed sphere but not one perfect. Also if the Earth did manage to remain intact after the impact, the blast and unearthed crust, lava and debri would spread through out the Earth's surface. I find it funny that a giant bowl of lava would form and then spill out to cover the earth.
I found this on some website long time ago. Can't remember what is the name of website. And I like this vid very much so when i register with Youtube, i was upload this one first :D

This is why the earth has an atmosphere that doesn't accomodate meteors.

2:40 - 3:05 It looked like a giant pie. A GIANT PIE OF DEATH.
Seriously though, I doubt we'd ever let this happen.

if a meteor that big approaches the earth at that speed i don't think theres much we can actually do lol.

lol you make it sound like we would have a choice, unfortunately i don't think we have the technology to destroy a small moon yet.

After the impact Im sure slabs of the crust would go flying into space never to be seen again. This thing was WAY too anime inspired.
