@SESXIE38 sadly, they can, because its not on public property, its still metro property. . . so the officers can at the least request that no ones face be shown or any identifiable information. not trying to start an argument, just saying.
@StoshTech Nope, that sidewalk belongs to arlington county and not WMATA and second WMATA is funded by tax money, its all public which is why its also called public transportation. Its all fair game to photograph thats why the officer lost and i won!!!
@novapj dont forget they are funded by revenue too, and they are not federally regulated, they are just threatened that if they dont abide by federal saftey regulations that their funding will be cut so they will rely on just revenue. You were filming private property, i think the cop just didnt give a shit, neither do i, im just posting this because i know some idiot is gonna go try to film an arrest inside a store or something and wonder why he had to turn off his camera.
@StoshTech no not exactly...i was standing on a public sidewalk so theres no debate about where i was or what i was filming, being in public space or filming something from a public space is all good. i do agree on a store being different but only if you were inside the store, you can be on the sidewalk outfront and film a store all day. but still even if this was down the escalaters on the platform waiting for a train its still all good to film and thats public funded space itself.
@novapj Wrong...How did the officer "lose" lol... You are wrong about the jurisdiction...it belongs to WMATA. Didnt get the footage you were hoping or I guess. lol
LOL dude these cops are desperate for some action! i swear i was at noodles and company at ballston and there was this drunk mexican sleeping on the bench, and 5 cop cars come rushing in and taclke him! wtfffffff!?? LMAO
