Good bye Guruji, well make you live forever through your Teaching, which was a gift for us, in the West. Thank you Pattabhi. Big Soul !
Your Spirit & your Teaching will continue to inspire our practice, our spirit, our life. Thank you dear Guruji for being such an inspiration to us. Always in my heart Guruji !Peaceful passing in your next life
As someone who has only begun his journey with yoga, I am "envious" of those who have been touched and shaped by Guruji. But there is no place for envy in yoga. Through our practise can we express our gratitude for what he's given to all of us.

Yajur Veda 40:9 says,"They are in darkness and are steeped in ignorance and sunk in the greatest depths of misery who worship the uncreated, eternal prakrti-the material cause of the world-in place of the All-pervading God, but those who worship visible things born of the prakrti, such as the earth, trees, humans bodies in place of God are enveloped in still greater darkness are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time"
It's a good point that you brought up, but Ashtanga has to be explained somehow, right? The whole system of Ashtanga is more than just the asanas. It includes breathing and meditating as well. Besides, Pattabhi Jois is over 90 years old, and he doesn't do the asanas like he used to. He did his practice for decades, so you would think he could use the rest. But he still practices pranayama breathing.
Do you realize who Pattabhi Jois is? He studied with Krishnamacharya (please check out that clip) who revitalized the Hatha yoga tradition in the early 1900's. Pattabhi Jois studied under him and created the Ashtanga series (please correct me if I am wrong). If YOU do yoga...it is because of men like Pattabhi Jois!!!
Yes, Krishnamacharya and Jois developed the Ashtanga series from the old texts. They did a lot of adapting. Krishnamacharya, along with Jois and Krishnamacharya's brother-in -law B.K.S. Iyengar, have been influential on modern day hatha yoga.
Gabrinkas, it is an interesting point you make. If you knew this Yogi you would know that he actually speaks very little as a rule. He is also over 90 years old.
in India, when there is an untimely death, sometimes those close to the person will sacrifice something important to them in honor of the person that passed. when Gurujis eldest son died, gurugi gave up his asana (posture) practice.
I understand that the whole thing is too intimate and of a high level like the son in the scriptures (sravan) who carried his old parents or the wife in Mahabharata who closed her eyes with cloth because her husband was blind. Not so easy to understand but I know something of a higher level.
you don't recognice a master when you hear one. respect, peace, love... if you don´t like keep your mouth closed. did you practice ashtanga??? you have to give thanks to this guy the bigest modern master
I love this clip! Thank you for posting!!!

Is this gentlemen related to the poisoned Krishna leader, whose name I cannot recall, but it's something like Patuphtpa? (Sorry!)
He looks like a younger version and his voice is similar too!

Yoga is universal. Do your practise and all is coming.
My teacher said to me: " Do things that feel good, don´t do
anything that you feel bad" that was a very good advice. Only you self know what is good or bad to you.
Best wishes yogi Kurunam

We mixed yoga and religion ( truth and love ) to make a better
world cause this world is " perseestä ". You can just go on with
your practise maybe one day you´ll get the selfknowledge.
I am so sorry that my english is not so very good!
You can do some theory with Patanjali.

"95% practice and 5% theory" - he said.
100% theory and 0% practice - that what he shows!
He is fat, he is just sitting and talking and talking!
How can i trust him?
Look at "Astanga yoga demo": 100%moveing - 0%talking!

P Jois gave up his physical practice as a form of sacrifice after his eldest son died.
as to the "fat" you should see Iyangar who in his late 80's and with a belly, can do amazing physical asanas.
plus its an interview, so smarten up.
