I don't get the point of this trap though, ghasts don't drop anything special and you can just deactivate the portal when you leave if you're really that paranoid about them spawning. Unless you just liked the challenge, in which case i'd say there are better ways of doing it

@SuperRyan122 Not really, the chances are incredibly incredibly unlikely. No one's ever seen this happen, Notch has only said that it could. There's more chance of losing your world in a hard drive crash, or accidentally dying to something really stupid.

(which is why this ghast trap is never going to be worth much, incidentally, but it's a cool idea anyway)

oh man i just came back from the nether that place is messed up maybe it was just my luck but i spawned on a small place where i could barely move without taking a huge drop and the ghasts were terrifying way more alot more than what ive feard and to make things even worse i didnt come out of the same portal i used to enter a new portal spawned outside and i had to trace my way back to my house (luckuly my house was near by and it was huge)

@Maper555 all mobs spawn. if they dont then they would not be in minecraft. And ghasts will go away if you kill them or set difficulty to "Peaceful". Ghasts are rumored to spawn near portals outside of The Nether.
