  • @DrTopfen I agree with you. :)

  • Better than the AVGN

  • Ugh, console people. Consoles are for dumbasses. Not saying you're a dumbass, but I'm talking about those AVGN fanboys who rant and rave about consoles.

  • Not bad I am liking it so far

  • 300 likes 30 dislikes. i wasnt gonna ruin it anyway

  • How is he ripping off AVGN? Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

  • "A boy and his dog" is an excellent movie, don't be misled by the strange title.

  • I loved the CD-I . I simply bought it for Dragon's Lair I, II, and Space Ace and those were awesome. I also enjoyed Zelda series. Most games were kind of lame, but it provided me with hours of fun :)

  • Never going to watch A Boy and His Dog? Epic fail!

  • YOur haircut sucks yank faggot

  • @DylanTheVillyn So did I!

  • I watched all of these twice...it was AWESOME!

  • Nice review

  • nah, perfect console if youre stoned :D

  • @LudaChris06 Unoffical being the operative word.... It is also possible that the moniker goes all the way back to when Sony was making the cd add on for the SNES... That failed relationship basically paved the way for Sony to remake the gaming world to their liking, and the Playstation came to be. In the end Gamester81 does a nice review of the real PSX, Honestly, if I could get one I would have it if for no other reason than it looks cool.

  • Dude, the 400 series lookes much more like a Turbo Duo. The PSX is a PS1/PS2/DVR. I mean honestly, did you do any research? One supposes the explcitave use in place of intelligent commentation is the replacement. At this point everyone should know it sucked, mostly just because there wasnt a 'DVD-i'. If y9ou dont have anything intelligent to say, then wick it down to a min or less.

  • @MrVolksbeetle Believe it or not "PSX" was an unofficial for the original Playstation. I've seen it like that in some old magazines.

  • The CD-I was an amazing peice of machinery, i used to have hours of fun playing it lol, ok I will admit it was rediculously big but still not all the games where that bad to be honest I got more entertainment from the CD-i than the Xbox 360

  • CD-i was too ahead of its time. Trying to do everything at once!

  • a boy and his dog was an awesome movie, you should watch it. its fucking crazy.

  • Great documentary. I was very curious about the earlier systems trying to make their so-called leap into the next generation. I remember buying the 3DO in that era and was disappointed overall but later invested in the PSX and was def. confident in home consoles again ... So yes the CD-I really was atrocious and I would have ripped it even more! And video review was done in a very informative albeit very entertaining and funny way ... Yay for Youtube POOP!

  • Great documentary. I was very curious about the earlier systems trying to make their so-called leap into the next generation. I remember buying the 3DO in that era and was disappointed overall but later invested in the PSX and was def. confident in home consoles again ... So yes the CD-I really was garbage and your video review was done in a very informative albeit very entertaining and funny way ... Yay for Youtube POOP!

  • fuck you, i have the CDI and i LOVE IT!

  • i dont really think it sucks my friend in north carolina (and this was when i was 6) had one and we played it he never complained it was totally amazing but i really want to play again.

  • i want a cd

  • 1:44

Wow, this guy really likes Mariah Carey...

  • 2:50 It's like a Saint Bernard fucking a Chihuahua......LMAO!!!!!!!!!

  • worst console ever xD

  • @NudilloS83 nah, thats the apple pippin

  • These are so stupid it's funny!

  • doesnt the psx have a sliding tray?

  • @stoltobot It has a pop up lid, like the Slim PS2, the Gamecube, the Saturn, and the Dreamcast.

  • the reason they had cd consoles is so they can have better sound. they didnt get much with graphics

  • @ladawg81 and memory!

  • wtf? 2:14 psx came out in 2000s and only in japan. it had an xmb type of menu and was a dvr that could play ps1 games. psx is not ps1 two different systems

  • 4:23 roflmao! compton

  • Nice ripoff of the Angry Video Game Nerd.

  • @APenisWithLegs Nice troll

  • Hey man, did you scratch the fuck out of The 7th Guest when you put it in that cd-i?

  • I guess you got no comment on the CD-I VS Wii in size, huh?

  • I actually remember the infomercial

  • Good review. You should watch A Boy and His Dog. It is a really good dystopian sci fi movie.

  • You're a fucking idiot if you don't know about A Boy And His Dog

  • i bet your white undershirt has pit stains in them... because you're a fat fuck.

  • I love this review. I love even more than the AVGN's review, and that doesn't happen too often.

  • Your actually doing a good review, don't really know why there are some hate comments on this video, i thought it was pretty good :)

  • A Boy And His Dog is an amazing film btw, watch it if you still haven't.

  • PHILLIPS MADE MY CLEANER

  • Education isn't bad, but this is a video game console not a computer. These will work better on computer, not video games unless thier puzzle games or something.

  • anyone know where i can download "The Apprentice" the only good platformer for the system?

  • Your IQ must be aroud 90 if you really bought a philips video game system that cost 1000 dollars.

  • @romanovdb Who says I bought it? ;)

  • I was the only kid in Ponca City Oklahoma with a CD-i 900 in 1993.

  • @ZmajSnoshaj How'd you like it at the time?

  • @LudaChris06

At the time it "seemed" like a nice platform but other than Burn Cycle there were very few titles worth a damn, as this review proves. Controller sucked @ss and load times were horrible but that was to be expected for a first-generation disc-based design.

  • @ZmajSnoshaj Oh that sucks. Did you have the trackball for the kid games for it? Or just regular gaming controllers?

  • @LudaChris06

Just the gaming controllers, although I think it would have been wise to make shooters and even RPGs with the trackball, they could have made some kind of removable overlay stickers for each game, anything would have been better than those Rubbermaid controllers... it really is the little system that could have been.

Much like the Intellivison, which had a crapload of really addictive titles but cheesy hardware and lack of dedicated programmers.

  • @ZmajSnoshaj Well personally the trackball never sounded like a good idea to me. But yeah this system could done better. Do you still have it?

  • @LudaChris06

Oh no, I pawned it and all the games I had for it for $150 (which was alot in 95') and bought a Roland MPU-401 MIDI controller for my already obsolete Packard Bell 386SX 25MHz computer (4Mb of RAM!)... I thought I bought a bag of weed too.. can't remember.

  • 2:52 i listened than it hit me with an image at 2:56 and i cracked lol that was good

  • where did you get all these gaming consols im not saying its bad or anything

  • This was a very informative look at the Cdi- I learned something and it was entertaining to watch. Very well done!

  • Nice review dude.

  • Video CDs are popular in Southeast Asia because of the strong resistance to humidity. Very necessary.

  • This thing looks terrible, nice review though.

  • OH MY GOD I had that trackball!

I played Wand of Gamelon with it, it was shit.

It wasn't horrible for stuff like lemmings, though.

  • @Charonchan You actually had a CD-i?? What was it like for you? Do you still have it?

  • @LudaChris06 I was really young. I had some educational games, they were okay I guess. Sesame street and stuff. But the Zelda game was HORRIBLE. Especially with that dumb trackball. I remember Ocarina coming out and wondering what the big deal was...

It's in storage somewhere... It was okay for a young kid, I guess, but I soon graduated to a game boy and then an n64.

  • @Charonchan You should bust it out some time and make a video.

  • 3.02 *.* bellooooooo!!!!! i was 7 years old and I liked it very much!!! thanx for remember me it... sorry for bad english XD

  • Dude, don't do what everyone else does and reference avgn. let your review stand on their own. Other then that, good review.

  • @TheSchoolWorld With the way some AVGN fanboys are, it's better to play it safe.

  • @communistrecords, not it's not, because you're just advertising for the other guy. If you're going to make your own review, make it yours, don't spend it talking about someone else's reviews. thee3nd, in the future, I would recommend doing separate videos if you want to respond to another one. Don't bring your own review down to that level. It's obvious you're influenced by AVGN, that's why you took off the comments for the second part of this review because people noticed the similarities.

  • haha nice I just recently got my hands on a CD-i and hope to do a full on review myself of the entire system. I probably have a good 10 or so games, I made a quick video showing the small collection.

  • lol i didnt know fucking huge this thing was

  • A boy and his dog is a fuckin awesome flick, its what mad max 2 was based on.

  • This is a gift from god! If this piece of crap was never created, then YouTube poops would cease to exist!

  • Why you waste your time n money on this crap? Just move on man.

  • The Phillips CDi sucks, I had to buy three just to get one that works. Or maybe its just ebay that sucks. This cost my over four hundred dollars between the three systems.

  • worst.... console... EVER

  • I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • CD-i is great! ...For YouTube Poops lol

  • my buddy had one of these.

we had faces of evil, burns cycle, seventh guest... a few other crappers. but the one we played with the most, comptons interactive encyclopedia

  • you should watch 'a boy and his dog', it's not what you probably think it is :)

  • Great job. I look forward to watching all your videos!

  • 700USD seems like a lot for that piece of junk :S

  • I love the CD i my option

  • "Flintstones Jetsons Timewarp" looks like a complete ripoff of the movie "The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones".

  • listen to these haters man.. lol dont fuckin like it make your own goddamn video!! simple as that.. fuck we need more videos like these.. keeps me entertained.. so keep up the good work man

  • its so obvious your reading off a script...

  • yeah so?

  • just usually people try to look at the camera.

  • On camera, I'm not actually reading from anything, I have it memorized. Off camera, I read from a computer screen.

  • wierd, looks like your reading. try facing the camera more...

  • @ infantryhawk

You're complaining about how someone makes an informative video about a system for you? GET A LIFE!!!

  • i was not complaining. i was merely saying that fact was obvious

@YOURSELF: your being a huge dumbass fanboy? get a life!

besides, this guy dosn't even understand CD-I became a game system on accident...

  • Oh, please explain how the CD-I became a system on "accident".

  • Phillipd originaly devoloped and sold the CD-I as an educational machine.

They still had the contract for nintendo characters when the deal when nintendo fell through, so they decided to publish a few side games for thier educationel device.

when they saw that nothing other then the games sold, they abondoned the educationel idea, trying to turn it into a game system. phillips didn't have the expirience or time, and the cd-i became what many consider a disaster.

  • your response to infantryhawk is funny!

  • @thee3nd i can understand what he's hinting. it was mainly educational n kids games. n they realized to dive into more of the true gamers world. whatever that other dude who made that remark is stting behind his computer and in fact watched the whole video. go figure.

enjoy your videos are another outlet of opinion n facts. keep it up. i got back into gaming to earn extra cash n know what to look for when "picking".

  • @thee3nd don't Respond to him. your video sounds professionally done.

  • @thee3nd Well I'd like to thankyou for making a script.. it shows dedication and that you planned what you were going say

  • @thee3nd Because it's not a camera phone it's a dvd.

  • Where there any games made for them by chance?

  • the graps look 1978

  • Oh crap. I never realized the CD-I had well known brands making software for it. How did that do that for such an awful console?

  • it wasnt really mario and zelda. They got the right for the characters and hired some lowly developer.

  • Not that. I mean the Jetsons and the Flinstones are well known characters. How did they get them into that mess of a machine?

  • Really nice videos, love them thanks for giving is all the details of the cd-i. And yeah CDI SUCKS

  • u must bve rich

  • i lol'd on how shocked you were at 2:35 if i were to see this thing at a yard sale i would mistake it for an early microsoft slim PC

  • i love the bit

"its EVEN bigger than a ps3"

  • it's good to see reviews of older consoles, but those titles are some of the worst! keep in mind this came out before the psx, saturn, and even 3do. it helped pave the way for movies on 5'' discs with it's white book standard (vcd). it was also neat for kodak photo-cds and philips made an amazing sounding cd player w/ cd+g compatibility (at least with the 910 model)

  • LOTS OF SPAGHETI

    MY BOY

    YOU MUST DIE

    NO

  • That pen is still a asshole.

Awesome breakdown on the history of the CDi. You do great work.

  • Philips should just stick to making Lighbulbs LOL!

  • Mah Boi,this console is what ALL true warriors strive for!

  • Pull back the anger and tone the language down a bit and you'll seem more original.

  • He doesn't seem very angry to me. It just seems like he lacks charisma on camera.

  • Comment (on the next video):

No START button!? Come on, even Microsoft WINDOWS has one!

  • you should please finish this..its better than the avgns :-)

  • i kinda wana know the reason behind the size of the 900 series. plz dunt delete, jus want a reply

  • When you have a system that is trying to be the end all be all system of home entertainment, yeah it's going to be big.

  • so.......its trying to be more advanced than its competitors at its time?

  • great review^^ i liked this one... i will look at to others as well^^ :D

  • they should have made interactive porn or this, it would make it worth buying

  • You're complaing about the size of a console made over 10 years before next gen systems?

  • See comments above, I'm not going through this again.

  • Well yeah, but the other systems weren't video/multimedia players either. That much hardware had to be tacked on. Look how big the Sega got when it slapped on that CD player.

  • So what, the point of that scene was to illustrate the size of 900 series, not bitch about it.

  • Well, I guess that's a good enough "You're right, I'm wrong."

  • You thought I was bitching about the size when I wasn't so yeah.

  • You might as well just try to save face by not commenting now.

  • Shut up, you're a dumbass and a waste of time.

  • You're crazy!! lol

  • Do you think the 900 series is the biggest console in the world?

  • LOL - "it's like a saint bernard fucking a chuhuaua"

that totally hit me from out of nowhere and made me laugh

that part about "the crayon factory" also made me laugh, seeing as how i make art with both pens and crayons.

  • Cool I will check out the other videos.

  • hehe FF VI title intro. <3

  • is this the first zelda game in the zelda history? xDD

  • 7-part series?

    a bit off-putting

  • in all of cdis yo can play the games???

  • Not to nitpick, or anything, but it's Time Life, not Lifetime. :-P

Great overview, man! VERY in formative. I had no idea about this stuff. You should do more documentaries! :)

  • "Not to nitpick, or anything, but it's Time Life, not Lifetime"

    I know, I misspoke.

  • It's cool, I do that all the time.

Burt seriousely, you are good at these docs giving a history of systems. You should do something involving gaming in general, I'm sure it would be very interesting.

  • these vids are so funny!

  • i still have and use my cd-i 450 i do have a 220 too but that no longer works.. and i agree with the post below me back in the day it was pretty awsome watching movies on disc beore dvds existed and not those huge laxer disks either!

  • I had a CD-I back In the day Ahhh 95' I think It was when I got my Goliath of a CD-I 900...One Of my fondest memories was watching Films On Laser Disc when everyone else was still watching Video Tapes...It was kinda like having a DVD player years before DVD players existed!!!

  • thee3nd, i like your videos. they are informative, well made, and funny, though you ought to film more of your reactions. I think that's what's the best thing about all the game reviewers, their reactions to the stupidity of the game, or the absurd difficulty. I'm not asking you to generate some combinations of curse words or anything, your commentary is good as is, we just need to see that look on your face. it makes good youtube.

  • guys guys wait a second ok This system is big i know but wait Release 1991 we are in 2009 over 18 years ,i mean new technology is for example if we compare the old ipod with the new one touch ,of course But In my opinion This system have better graphic than Regular Nintendo Nes.

  • Another person who decided to ignore the fact that most other systems at the time of the cd-i were smaller than the CD-i, PS3, and Xbox 360 and failed to realize that the comparisons in the videos were for illustration purposes ONLY. Great, just great.

  • It doesn't look so bad. I'm spectualating here but it seems like nintendo backed philips instead of sony for some reason. Fail.

  • Nintendo screwed sony over with Phillips worst decision in history Nintendo

  • avgn has a cdi review now

  • lol i COMPLETELY agree

  • i laughed my ass off when i read the "self improvement" part

  • you'll need it after you play zelda cdi

  • Watch A Boy and His Dog. It's an interesting sci-fi movie with some strange and messed up humor.

  • But you fail to remark on the ultimate selling point of this movie.. "Don Johnson" ...Miami Vice and Nash Bridges, nuff said.

  • Whoever paid $700 for that got fucked!

  • yea this system coulda gone far, shitty ideas killed it...

  • Meh, yeah, the CD-I was an utter mess. I actually owned one, but after playing the LOZ games, I sold it, and the pieces of crap to a poor, poor soul for around $100

  • * yawn *

  • OMFG!! you are fat!! how much cake have you been eating?!!!

  • YAWN!!!!

  • it's a secret

  • A boy and his dog is AWESOME! You Should watch it!

  • At least most bad game consoles had at least 2-3 games that made it worth SOMETHING. The Cd-I doesn't though. Cryin' shame :(

  • That pen is still a real asshole :) Your reviews and rants are great.

  • also, have you watched a boy and his dog yet? if not, will u ever?

  • I love thew Philips cd-i

  • shut up it's his style, if you don't like that part, just skip it and stop complaining about it

  • get used to it! thats why its called a review

  • The CD-I 450 holds the record of "Largest Game Platform," besting out even the Atari 5200, as reviewed by the AVGN. Also, the "Unholy Triforce," as many of us may know, is legendary for being the choice fodder of a massive, fan-base made series known as Youtube Poop!

  • The 450 model is about as big as the PSX. The 900 series is the big one.

  • My mistake. I beg your pardon.

  • Philips CD-I
