mate, i think you should read up on your stuff before you comment, that is a wild colouration of an Axolotl, the most common " pet " colour of Axolotl is the albino, white form that is seen more commonly.
They don't tolerate any chemicals. Please ONLY fresh cold water, nothing more. Only water. Their immune system will collapse with chemicals (sooner or later)
Temperature should be under 20°C all the time. (temporary up to 22°C, but maximum for one day) Otherwise they get stressed AND ill very soon
Sorry for my english, but its really really important. ;)
Thanks for the advices! In never wash my axi's tank with any cemicals but in my country I have to put cemicals and wait some time (same as for fishes) in her tank, because if I miss this part she will die because of Cl and other stuff in the water (I know someone use rainwater, but I'm not sure it's allways OK, and we don't have a garden...). I rather don't drink it so I won't put my axi in it on a direct way. She is in a shady corner in my room, so her water is about room temperature.
What happened? Was she healthy? Did you clean her aquarium with disinfectant? If yes you have to wash out well next time... And you have to put some type of water handler chemical to her water to rid unwanted things from the water. And she is sensitive to pH so that could be a problem too... And she doesn't need any heater room temperature is perfect (19-22).
Well their population in the wild is basically unknown. Due to mexicos dwindling habitat for these guys due to pollution and the lakes turning into smaller estuaries and being drained. Some are thought to still exsist in canals systems etc.

Hi!
Please don't use chemicals against for example Cl. You can leave the new water in a little tank over night. Then the Cl-Gas can escape.
Please please NO chemicals. You don't need it and the Axolotl will die. Only fresh water. Trust me...
No rain water please. It's very soft (no water-hardness). The Lotls need hard water for the mucosal.

Ok. I'll change her water soon and I will try it maybe combined with a little fountain for the better effect. Thx for your help

They are criticaly endangered in the wild, but they are quite easy to breed in captivity, so it's legal t own them...
Your Axolotl looks pretty well, how old is he? :)
Celer518 3 years ago
He is with me since december, so about 4 months i think.
