I tinhk my game its not right.. wen I shoot the centaurus when he is in adrenaline, he don't do the same as ur centaurus.. when u shoot when he is in adrenaline, he stop 1 ou 2 seconds.. mine does't stop that second.. so I can the the shield from him.. its me who does't do right, or its possible the game have some "bug"..

Then the Centaur will be stunned, giving you time to use your grapple hook to pull the shield from its grip.
@okladibla I actually already beat the game, I just had a hard time mastering adrenaline dodge. Up until the centaurs i never even used it.
A lot of people are saying how easy adrenaline dodge is, yeah its easy once you finally figure it out. But until then its a royal pain in the ass. My best advice to someone struggling with it is to press the left toggle in the direction you want to go slightly before the crouch button. My problem was I was pressing the crouch too soon.
@jac6995 Yeah, I heard of people doing that and they said it took a long time, so I was determined to learn how to use the adrenaline dodge. It went so much faster :D

I've just done it! OK, You shoot them, then they throw the laser. Look away. Then shoot them until they rage and one will come for you. You'll see the L + circle. STOP SHOOTING, ONLY AIM and then press circle (PS3) When the red circle makes a sound and you see it in the centre (pointing at the boss's head) SHOOT ONCE. Then, get the grapple and remove his shield. Use this shield againts them when they throw the laser again. They'll turn into stone. Shoot them. I hope it helps!

Throughout the game it's always helpful to check out Lara's journal for hints. During the fight she mentions the centaurs have a ring on their shield and finally it clicks in my head that I can grapple it. Once you get the shields off, she mentions the shield can provide cover. Not long after I was able to pwn them. ALSO note that earlier on when they try turning you into stone- LOOK AWAY. Think of Medusa, avoid eye contact and you won't be turned to stone.
You can beat one centaurs by going to the water and going back to the switch and stay there until one centaurs live finishes and then go back and kill the second...i can't kill the second and i have tryied many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many times,days, months and i still not winning...what i am gonn do??? ://////
Yeah the T-rex you just need to run into a spot and just hide there. Forgotten where but the spot where you hide it can't attack you. Giving you chance to strike.
There is is a glitch whit T-REX, so you can defeat him without mastering the adrenalin dodge, here it's not the case,CENTAURS can't turn you to stone if you squat, even when they ''shoot' directly at you and you are not moving,i figured that much, but i still can't master the adrenalin dodge, mybe i'll just quit.
This is driving me insane! I get to the point at which the centaur is stunned and at which I am supposed to grapple the shield (presumably the usual Q then E on the PC) but the grapple never connects with the shield for me to pull it away! Is this a glitch, or am I doing something wrong?

hey guys what helped me is to go to settings options and sound lower the music all the way higher the sfx and the voice so you can hear everythign better and the music wont frustrate you. try that and see if it helps <3
Or when the Centaurs turned into stone you can use your Caliber pistols to shoot them and it will drain their health meter very FAST! Just letting other people to know how to kill them quickly... =)
Yeah i can rage dodge all i want on the xbox 360 but no matter what position i am in or where I am or what I do, the fucking targets never zero in on a headshot, they keep on their chests. It pisses me off and I don't want to play it cuse i been at this for 3 hours.
And what's with the stupid boob shot with the slightly tinted nipples on the first petrification? game developers don't get much action, do they?

Well, the other ones are good to me. I love 'em all. But, yeah, I think it would be better if there wasn't a rage meter.
These things were very disappointing to look at and fight after encountering the scary mutated monstrosities of the original game. I'll never forget that moment in the first game when one of the statues burst with a massive bang to reveal a large, hideous creature which then proceeded to lob an endless stream of fireballs at you. It was completely unexpected and pretty frightening as well.
@DartzMarik press left right, left - right, many times as fast as you can, until you set yourself free. if you listen the voice in the video you can hear when she/he sais that. :)

@booklover7900 steam is a old network where you can play games online, like counter strike for example, left4dead etc and it`s nice cause the forbbiden the cheats. but some of them use cfg... that sucks. anyway...
@booklover7900 if you try to go back to the switch and wait there until one dies, and the one alive will run out of fire, when you go back to the centaurus, you cant kill him because he petrefies u and then you cant move. why dont you just try my way? is very easy.... you play on steam?

But I found out that there's a way not to get petrified: when they try to begin to move to the left and right just like you would if you were already petrified
FRIENDS OF LARA CROFT- EASIEST WAY TO BEAT CENTAURS
You don't have to take two shields away from the centaurs,only one. Get rid of one shield then get them enraged where you see the green beam. Take that single shield and use it against them. Quickly get very close to one of them and shoot away with your pistols. Do the same with the other. The one holding the other shield will die just as easily as the one minus it. In point of fact I killed the one with the shield first!
I was stuck on this for 2 years, just left it hang and opened it to get passed with no luck. I passed it the other day though. On PC it's important to reconfigure your keys, I had to put Crouch on my right mouse button so I could hold it while I went for the stun to the centaur head. So just nail them till they attack, then move out of the way sideways and crouch then when the targets lock together on the head shoot, stun them, use Q for rapple, hold it down and hit E for use to pull shield
This is hard if u cn't do adrenaline dodge so before u fight the cantaurs make sure your target lock is on advanced toggle not manual. to do this go to options and make the changes because you can't do adrenaline dodge if your target lock is on manual
Very Hard on PC. I had to change crouch to right mouse button to nail this. I'm done but this was tough. Best thing is to piss off the Centaur by shooting it and when it charges at you do the Crouch+Move left or right maneuver and when the circles come together nail it in the head. Its stunned if you did it right, then hold Q for rappel, then hit E to real the shield in. Bingo, Nail the Centaur again, when he blasts you with the freeze ray, hold the shield and freeze him, then blast him. Yo!

Now i'm in egypt and some traps are still irritating grrrr lol On top of that i did a mistake i pressed dowload instead of save so i ve to redo some stuff -_-
@ripoux1er This game is great, but the Centaur was a bit to rough for me, it's all about the keys, easy on gamepad but tough on keys. I'm in Egypt now too, ONWARD!

I prefer tomb raider legend even if its too easy and angel of darkness. pity coz the game is beautifull.
My technique to beat the centaurs when they were watchin at you with the green glance i wasnt stoppin to launch the hook then i wasnt stoned and after turnin around the centaurs not to be hit while he was jumping.
I'm playing that game ... I didnt kill the centaurs yet its really hard ... But the whole game is hard ...I'm really disappointed by the game itself... We dont have to use our brain a lot ...the difficulty is somewhere else it means that we can't stop fallin from stones or such ...really hard with the joystick dual shock... sometimes u ve to restart a scene 100 times ...here is the only hard part of the game ...

I noticed that if you go BACK UNDER the water and stay there for a few minutes,one of the "centaurs" dies...I dont know what happens to it,but it disappears,leaving only one. and his thing on his hand just lays there,but you cant grab it.
I never wanted to smash the controller at all. I admit I was frustrated, but never got out of control. I do have one gripe: The programmers never made a way for us to know this just by playing. Without YouTube, I don't think this was possible! There simply isn't a clear way of figuring this out by just simply playing the game.
You can avoid being turned to stone entirely, all you have to do is keep jumping towards them and fliping and stuff and its impossible for them to get you, or you run underneath them when they rear up......and your safe and stoneless
I play in pc, and I kill them to use 1 large and 4 small medipack. I hate them cause they are in my way. But they are so stupid. I only get one shield from them and I can kill the 2 centaurs with that shield.
finally i kill the horse..if u wait the target when it red makes a different noise then shoot it ..it get stunned and take out the shield like how she said exactly
I have a lot of trouble stunning the bastards and when I do I can't take their shields no matter what I do or how I position myself in regards to the damn centaur.

@anomaly768 You bet I did! Immediately after reading your post, I ran to the back room and tried it. I beat the crap out of them on the first try! Why oh why, did I not know about the L1 targeting-system-matrix-style-kickass move before!? Our fault, my girlfriend and I. We simply didn't know. One might ask, "how the hell did he beat the T-Rex then?" I can't answer that because I just don't know.
@Chrisredfield1 It doesn't mention the left trigger on page fifteen of the booklet you get with the game, but it does mention it at the top of page fourteen; so people aren't realizing you have to combine the information about 'combat controls' with 'combat movement controls' with 'advanced combat controls'. I think this is the reason some people are missing out the left trigger and having trouble getting the technique to work. Locking on is the key. You must have fluked the T-Rex! ;)
Luckily this game only cost me £4.99 because I'm giving up on it. The character is far too difficult to control so the best place for this game is in the bin.

just shoot one centaur to turn on their life bar then swim down to the underwater lever room then just wait for the centaur to die then repeat for the other centaur.its a long long process but it works.
god knows what theyre up to up there but it saves you from doing it.

I have played this over and over and over again! I am on the Wii platform and I am able to do everything right up to grabbing the shield with the grapple.. but it seems as if no matter what I do, I cannot grapple it!! I am about to literally just give up. Is it a glitch on the Wii version or what?
this part is way too hard in comparison with the overall difficulty of the game...i did it but would have never figured out myself. thxxx a lot 4 help. oh and sometimes the hook just doesn't pull the shield...buggy

It's very very easy to beat, all you have to do to keep the left trigger pressed when it's charging at you. Then press the b button to dodge, by that time the lock on circles should appear.
I've stop playing this game. I'm stuck in this section and no matter how many times I try I am just not fast enough to get the job done. I am not an expert player and now it seems I've wasted my money on this game because I can't finish it. I wish they would make a level for people who just want to have fun with a game and not spend hours or days just trying to move on. I did well up to this point but this game is over for me. Sorry to say.
Don't give up! There is a bug which will help you: right after the cutscene with Pierre, dive back into the water a swim into the cavern with the lever, get on land and wait. Eventually its health will go down and die. Swim back to the surface and do the same for the other one :) Have fun

The game is easy for veterans of Tomb Raider. Its better this way, its an anniversary edition, meant to bring back memories. The original TR1 (puzzles) was way harder than this one. I remember like it was yesterday. It would have been really boring for us who played all the tomb raiders (starting with TR1 like 14 years ago) if it would have been easier.

@j0y1203 Omg, this whole time I've been struggling to kill these damn things, adrenaline dodge not working, and I find out it's cause of me having manual combat mode on. Thanks for saying that, after I switched to advanced toggle killing them was pretty easy :)

It was hard for me in the beginning, while fighting T-Rex, but once I killed him I found it pretty easy.

Well, the other ones are good to me. I love 'em all. But, yeah, I think it would be better if there wasn't a rage meter.

These things were very disappointing to look at and fight after encountering the scary mutated monstrosities of the original game. I'll never forget that moment in the first game when one of the statues burst with a massive bang to reveal a large, hideous creature which then proceeded to lob an endless stream of fireballs at you. It was completely unexpected and pretty frightening as well.

in order to kill the centaurus you have to shot them until they rage, then run backwards looking at them, when they run to you, you have to wait until you see the arrows for dodge, when you see the arrows,and only when you see them you dodge (movement+shift),then you will see two circles geting around his hed; when the two circles are on his hed, you shot (alsowill be a sound when the time is right to shot his head)this way, you cant miss.
NOTE: COMBAT MODE HAS TO BE ON ADVANCED TOGGLE!

After performing the headshot the centaurus lands directly on Lara and if it doesn't, til I grapple the shield the other centaurus knocks me out :/

FRIENDS OF LARA CROFT- EASIEST WAY TO BEAT CENTAURS
You don't have to take two shields away from the centaurs,only one. Get rid of one shield then get them enraged where you see the green beam. Take that single shield and use it against them. Quickly get very close to one of them and shoot away with your pistols. Do the same with the other. The one holding the other shield will die just as easily as the one minus it. In point of fact I killed the one with the shield first!

I was stuck on this for 2 years, just left it hang and opened it to get passed with no luck. I passed it the other day though. On PC it's important to reconfigure your keys, I had to put Crouch on my right mouse button so I could hold it while I went for the stun to the centaur head. So just nail them till they attack, then move out of the way sideways and crouch then when the targets lock together on the head shoot, stun them, use Q for rapple, hold it down and hit E for use to pull shield

This is hard if u cn't do adrenaline dodge so before u fight the cantaurs make sure your target lock is on advanced toggle not manual. to do this go to options and make the changes because you can't do adrenaline dodge if your target lock is on manual

Very Hard on PC. I had to change crouch to right mouse button to nail this. I'm done but this was tough. Best thing is to piss off the Centaur by shooting it and when it charges at you do the Crouch+Move left or right maneuver and when the circles come together nail it in the head. Its stunned if you did it right, then hold Q for rappel, then hit E to real the shield in. Bingo, Nail the Centaur again, when he blasts you with the freeze ray, hold the shield and freeze him, then blast him. Yo!

I prefer tomb raider legend even if its too easy and angel of darkness. pity coz the game is beautifull.
My technique to beat the centaurs when they were watchin at you with the green glance i wasnt stoppin to launch the hook then i wasnt stoned and after turnin around the centaurs not to be hit while he was jumping.

I'm playing that game ... I didnt kill the centaurs yet its really hard ... But the whole game is hard ...I'm really disappointed by the game itself... We dont have to use our brain a lot ...the difficulty is somewhere else it means that we can't stop fallin from stones or such ...really hard with the joystick dual shock... sometimes u ve to restart a scene 100 times ...here is the only hard part of the game ...
I don't see where is the fun ... not even a single enigma...!!!

I noticed that if you go BACK UNDER the water and stay there for a few minutes,one of the "centaurs" dies...I dont know what happens to it,but it disappears,leaving only one. and his thing on his hand just lays there,but you cant grab it.

I never wanted to smash the controller at all. I admit I was frustrated, but never got out of control. I do have one gripe: The programmers never made a way for us to know this just by playing. Without YouTube, I don't think this was possible! There simply isn't a clear way of figuring this out by just simply playing the game.

You can avoid being turned to stone entirely, all you have to do is keep jumping towards them and fliping and stuff and its impossible for them to get you, or you run underneath them when they rear up......and your safe and stoneless

I play in pc, and I kill them to use 1 large and 4 small medipack. I hate them cause they are in my way. But they are so stupid. I only get one shield from them and I can kill the 2 centaurs with that shield.

In the settings use advanced toggle! It's easier when doing dodges. Pull off their shields with your grapples and then shoot them some more. They'll stop doing their dodges now, so you can run behind one of their shields [interact] and they turn to stone! And you shoot them. :'D

Remember! To perform the adrenaline dodge you first have to 'lock your weapon' on to your opponent by holding down the 'left trigger button'. After filling the 'rage gage' face the Centaurs and 'lock on'; when the screen goes blurry, move the left toggle button in the direction you want to go and press the 'B' button simultaneously, when the targets meet and flash red 'shoot'! Then the Centaur will be stunned, giving you time to use your grapple hook to pull the shield from it's grip.

Why oh why, did I not know about the L1 targeting-system-matrix-style-kickass move before!? Our fault, my girlfriend and I. We simply didn't know. One might ask, "how the hell did he beat the T-Rex then?" I can't answer that because I just don't know.

@Chrisredfield1 It doesn't mention the left trigger on page fifteen of the booklet you get with the game, but it does mention it at the top of page fourteen; so people aren't realizing you have to combine the information about 'combat controls' with 'combat movement controls' with 'advanced combat controls'. I think this is the reason some people are missing out the left trigger and having trouble getting the technique to work. Locking on is the key. You must have fluked the T-Rex! ;)

just shoot one centaur to turn on their life bar then swim down to the underwater lever room then just wait for the centaur to die then repeat for the other centaur.its a long long process but it works.
god knows what theyre up to up there but it saves you from doing it.

I've stop playing this game. I'm stuck in this section and no matter how many times I try I am just not fast enough to get the job done. I am not an expert player and now it seems I've wasted my money on this game because I can't finish it. I wish they would make a level for people who just want to have fun with a game and not spend hours or days just trying to move on. I did well up to this point but this game is over for me. Don't give up! There is a bug which will help you: right after the cutscene with Pierre, dive back into the water a swim into the cavern with the lever, get on land and wait. Eventually its health will go down and die. Swim back to the surface and do the same for the other one :) Have fun

The game is easy for veterans of Tomb Raider. Its better this way, its an anniversary edition, meant to bring back memories. The original TR1 (puzzles) was way harder than this one. I remember like it was yesterday. It would have been really boring for us who played all the tomb raiders (starting with TR1 like 14 years ago) if it would have been easier.
