When the guy hits his hand on the desk and yells at 5:38ish its because he's angry... but isn't anger an emotion? This movie is so self-contradicting it's unbelievable.
The underground...full of homosexuals, murderers, rapists, child molesters, and all those we fight to protect...welcome, Preston, you're one of us now....
@d3vilkin You just beat me too that comment :) One could argue that slamming ones fist in the table and screaming is a sign of...well yes the feeling of anger.
@Patent101 Many societies are riddled with hypocrisy. Just look at how well Communist leaders live while their fellow citizens fester in abject poverty.
Or how we're taken into a war in the name of defending democracy, even when the majority of the public is opposed to said war.
@Patent101 That's not the only one. If you notice at the scene where they discover the dog in the trunk the officers show fear. Fear is also an emotion.
@yeahoblivionmaster the psychological description of anger is that it is an emotional signal. Reflexes are mainly spinal and would contribute to such things as flinching. Frustration comes from the inability to tolerate something and anger comes from frustration.
@tasneefm I'd like to disagree with you. Frustration and anger are two different human expressions. Anger has its own way towards a likely response, as do frustration. Anger can be dealt with but is easily capable of returning. Frustration on the other hand has nothing to do with anger mainly because frustration is self inflicted.
@tasneefm i believe in my own personal opinion is that the drug theyre suppose 2 take is in fact not perfect otherwise mishaps such as the fear of the pup being discovered and that man yelling at the main character would not have happend so in truth the society is not perfect so they pretty much have failed at fullfiling the task they r given
OKAY so im quite confused by this scene..or maybe im just dumb. lol. help would be greatly appreciated :) why is he so pissed off at that guy (he's a teacher, i presume)? and who is that guy who says 'we've been watching you'. christian says 'you again'. when has he appeared before? okay, so he's found the resistance. but why did he have to throw the teacher against the shelves? the students would be back soon and surely a hole in the wall leading to the resistance would raise suspicion.
maybe he is playing his anger, cuz if he would be watched by other clerics, they wouldn't find something strange. OR he is in his transforming phase between no-feelings and feelings.
and to the person he was in the audience in the beginning
@stuff339 well you dont really belive the "rulling" guys would use their drug, do you? Of course they control the masses "to end the wars" while they can still enjoy music, art, food, sex etc Seems logical to me
@KalikaInLeather i realise these things now. if you notice i posted that comment over a year ago so yeah. i was watching it at around 3 in the morning because i couldnt sleep so its understandable why i didnt see the obvious.
@stuff339 dont worry I wasnt saying that to you in particular, nor in an "arrogant" way; there were many comments about his "angry feelings", and I just shared my thought on the subject :)
@naruto1uzamaki9000 In Equilibrium 'sense offenders' are people who do not take their Prozium supplements and as a result their emotions are no longer suppressed. They typically start using 'emotional content' which is basically any material that can arouse an emotion, things like art, literature, entertainment etc.
Instead of all this instrumental stuff for the soundtrack they should have had Rebecca Black sing the soundtrack, that would turn up the intensity.
