Brilliant performance to get so much manic energy and emotion into the portrayal of a mutant squiddy thing.

The more I see of the Davies era the more I appreciate how amazing he is at creating characters that the audience can invest in emotionally.

I mean for gods sake Caan is a squiddy thing and was still really rooting for him when I watched this episode!

@Dalektopia ...I know but some how that was an anomaly, that is why Davros was so full of himself, if you listen to his speech he states that his Dalek succeeded where Emperors and Time Lords failed, or something like that....the price for breaching the time lock was Caan's sanity and the gift of prophecy...regardless, I hope Caan makes a return, what a great character, and of course Davros is totally awesome...but I am just not thrilled with Moffet's direction, RTD was a treasure...

Actually, I think Caan was sane the whole time, and was just faking to fool Davros and the Supreme Dalek. I say this, because of how he talks quite matter-of-factly after DoctorDonna awakens. If he had hands, he'd fold them queitly and contemplatively, a la Gendo Ikari.

Davros is a Kaled, a humanoid alien race originating from Skaro. The Daleks are mutants of that race. The Kaleds and the Thals entered into a civil war, ending with the gradual mutation of the Kaleds. Davros sped up the process in his experiments and thus the Daleks were born.

Agreed, but I think the biggest thing about Dalek Caan is the fact that he just proved that the Time War isn't absolute. It's not as completely time locked as the Doctor believed. Maybe the end of the series will be the bringing back of Gallifrey. If Daleks can do it, then The Doctor should be able to! Heh..
