where did you bought your wire in my electronical store the most i could have was 55meters at once so it means lots of solderings to do between two coils
motorcek z tlaciarne premna postacuje, len celo by to este nejaku regulaciu. napr. pedal na nohu...to by bol luxus ;) btw... jj typujes dobre, bude to SG s tyma kondmy co si mi dal, len momentalne este zhanam dake lepsie moty, a konecne cem vyskusat rotacne iskrisko..
Ahh- also, whay material is the coil form made of ? I've heard that PVC isn't good as it affects the Q factor (negatively) of the coil. But it's relatively cheap.
I'm taking a microwave oven txfmr apart for re-winding and will save the HV wire.
It'll be interesting to see how many feet there is. Takes forever to get all the laminations off though.
Yes its PVC everyone using it, and yes its epoxy for sealing and insulation.
it's not that bad when something fails during winding process i just stop the motor and catch wire and fix any error and than continute, but i acctualy enjoyed working with this quite thick wire 0,4mm i had no problems during winding and it takes me only about 15min to wound it.
btw.. good luck with that re-winding MOT i newer try it but it must me really hard work ;)..
Cool. interesting you wind your wire the from the back side and I wind mine from the front and you epoxied yours from he front and i do mine pouring on the top haha.
When I made my winding video i was really hungry and not thinking straight and couldn't find some stuff.
Do you ever get breakout in th area where you have the wire going through the pipe at the top?
actually i never get brakeout there, its a really good way how to start/end wire winding, all my coils are made this way.. those spacings are soo small that they can be neglected i think ;)
ive gottn some breakout on the sharp 90 corners before. Thats why I just super glue the wire with some tap so its all on the outside flat. Making holes is a lot easier though. I hate gluing it.
what was the point of putting the glaze on?

Now try it with #34 wire!

Whats the torque and RPM of the winder motor and RPM of the coil former (the PVC pipe) ? Thanks!

Where do the ends of the wires attach? Does one of them attach to the toroid? The other doesn't connect to the primary, right?
BuiltandTested 9 months ago
@BuiltandTested The wire at the top of the secondary goes to the toroid and the bottom wire goes to earth ground.

@plasmatron6 can i use polyester or polyurethane glue ?
sprogdiklis 11 months ago
@sprogdiklis dunno, but you can buy wood/metal glaze in every DIY shop..

VERY COOL way to wind a coil !!!!
I wind much smaller air core coils for radio work, THIS IS MASTERFUL !!!
I calculate the coil to be about 55 millihenries. A MONSTER !
Also a huge amount of magnet wire.
Calculate about 2020 feet of wire !
Expensive. no room for errors.
If something falls apart during the winding process, you'll have a useless mess of tangled wire.
I guess that was epoxy used to seal the finished coil ? That's what I use
