I ride my bike to work 4 out of 5 days. The other day I take public transportation. I had a car, but it is so much cheaper without one! I leave for work early, because I do sweat especially in the summer (my ride to work is all uphill), and it then gives me time to change and cool down before work starts. Usually I will wear a t-shirt and jeans in cooler weather, yoga pants and a racer back tank in the summer. I shower when I get home.
I don't think it is national bike week in the UK, also the only driving i will do this week is to London, i cant really bike that lol. But its defo something to consider for when university starts up again :)
When I lived in Boston I rode my bike to work. It was just a bit much when it started to snow. In the morning hours it's so cool that you really don't break a sweat then again my commute on bike was just twenty minutes from the South-End to the Mass General. I loved it except when this woman in this cab decided to open her door in the middle of traffic and forced me to slam into the passenger door. Too bad I wasn't going fast enough to make the door fall off. lol
I'd love to bike to work if it weren't a 40-minute crosstown commute (by freeway). I think I'll start small by biking to the nearest train/bus station and going by public transport. I mean, how do you bike any more than fifteen minutes or so in a skirt and heels? Or, assuming you change when you get there, with a garment bag?
What I do is just change when I get there. It seems like a hassle but it's actually all right. Or you could maybe do some flats and wear shorts under your skirts. I do that to commute to my college but sadly my bike is out of order so I take the bus at the moment.
They totally have bike racks at your school! I know they did at mine - if they don't, why not ask the school to put one in? Tell your class president or teacher
good idea. actually theres probably one at the park next to my school, but i know those mean old 12th grade kids like to steal parts even if its chained up.
plus, walking is healthier.
but yeah the bike parking thing is cool. ive never heard of that before.
whatever we do to reduce greenhouse gases, it's only a matter of time until the earth has become exhausted of all natural sources of energy and becomes irreversibly polluted, much like the melted ice in the arctic now. It's just delaying the inevitable. Just sayin'.
I ride my bike to work everyday, except when it´s icy outside..

Yeah, we have bike racks too, but people steal parts.
I walk to school, but biking would be so much faster.
rightovertherainbow 2 years ago
i know right?
and who is so selfish enough to steal parts?
but its only like a ten minute walk for me, its no big deal.

that sucks man,
people can be so lazy. like they dont even want to get a job to make money so they can have stuff, they need to steal just like the loser they are.

In flatland cities with courteous drivers, perfect weather and no muggers, cycling is a GREAT option.
