If you observe carefully, pay attention to the heavy breathing when she tried to catch her breath. You don't see that when Teresa Teng and Tsai Chin performs.....almost flawless!!!

I think each singers have their own characteristics. I like Tsai Chin, Teresa Tang and Choi. But if someone name a particular song, I may prefer one of them. I think each singer has their own style. I do not think all singers get 100 marks for all the songs they sing. Everyone has a particular voice, though they are all very good singers.
She sings with more emotions than Ms. Deng, a different period of styles. I preferred this modern style than Ms. Deng. However, nobody can surpassed her legacy...
Tsai shin JUan is very beautiful now and actually is much prettier then when she came on the Taiwan music scene. And she has a very distinctive and sweet voice. She doesnt really need to be compared to Teresa or anyone else. But she IS just about the only one who can actually sing a Teresa signature song and come out doing a great job.
Of course legends can not be dethroned easily.
Even Teresa when she sang a sigature song of Tsai Chin could not dethrone her.

When Teng passed away, CNN, New York Times and other media here reported her death and praised her as "the most popular singer in the world" on her fan bases all over the world. She was rated above Presley, Jackson, Jones and others. It was an honor to see her so highly acclaimed and to know that she came from Taiwan. Ask yourself this question: Has Tsai reached there yet?
Tsai was never THAT popular...there are plenty of singers including Teresa Teng who were way more popular than Tsai. Plus she's over 40 now, semi-retired, probably won't gain any more popularity. I'm not sure what your point is.

Several years ago, upon Teng's news of passing away, I believe both CNN and USA TODAY surveys showed that fan-base wise, Teng was the most popular singer in the world surpassing Presley, Jackson and Deon. She had more followers than any other singer in the world and the base has been increasing after ever since. I can not believe that any musician from Asia has been visually close. So, To insist Tsai passing Teng will hurt Tsai's popularity!
Someday when Tsai's career completes, maybe, I say maybe, a more accurate comparison will come between her and Teng. I like Tsai as a singer very much but so far Teng is still the target to get closer to. None has surpassed. The emotional overflow on her tragic death just does not allow anybody to be compared more favorably over Teng at this time. Maybe, years later. Maybe! Be happy and proud for both. They are Taiwan's treasures!
