I put a Will Power in my P-bass, which started as a Squier before I modded it (only the body is stock now)...From the moment I played it first thing I did was reach for the volume on my amp...to turn it DOWN!!!
Still to this day, next to my active basses and my main bass (Yamaha TRB6II), it has the LOUDEST biggest output of them all!
And it's ALL the pickup...DiMarzio pups are ace... now can u pls make more models...like perhaps a Musicman style? :)
I can really relate to what Billy is saying. I bought a 79 p-bass fitted with white DiMarzio's. The output is incredible, almost 3db more than my regular fenders on the vu meter. They dont color the sound that much, but they let all the nuances of the playing throught and they cut throught the mix, in a nice way. I will have all my basses p/u replaced with DiMarzio. let the amp do the coloring.
I'm looking for a replacement pick up for my 2008 Fender Am Standard P-Bass. I find that the bottom is not focused or tight enough and the mid range is slightly muddy and unimpressive. What would you recommend for? I'm leaning towards organic and vintage sounding with better range, not hi fi or one with lots of top. Thanks!
You can't beat Dimarzios' they are well priced, excellently made, no matter what you want they have something to match, even if it comes in a different package to what you might expect,
If you want them to sound dark, no problem, bright, no problem, sad happy, they are so easy to make them do what you want,
I actually play an Attitude, and the Dimarzios' are amazing all my basses have them, all three, the only bass that doesn't is a P bass with a model P and a Bartolini MM humbucker in the neck!
Fender and Gibson guitars have a different bridge string spacings 2 1/4" to 2 1/8" aprox. This is why the pole pieces don't always line up with the strings and this makes the string volumes uneven. DiMarzio invented F spacing so you can order the correct spacing for your guitar.
"fender spaced" as opposed to gibson spacing. in the 50's gibson and fender were the 2 biggest companies so dimarzio separated the 2 different bridge spacings and F-spacing refers to floating bridges and most fender-style bridges.
"Oops" I think i just destroyed another universe by screwing up. Oh well. I guess al I can do is keep playing.

what does F-Spaced mean (in regards with the pickups)?
